  1. Hi Guys,

My husband and I were wondering what all is involved with the biometrics test for the I-751 process. Is this a full blown physical like the first time around (complete with blood work, drug test, shots, etc) when he came into the country, or is this strictly just fingerprints and photos (which is what I've read but I want to know for sure!). My husband is deathly afraid of needles and is already freaking out about a potential physical! Any feedback would be great! Thanks

  2. Hi everyone, I was wondering what documents we needed in order to bring my husband's (who just got his green card in the mail) truck from Canada to the States. We were told we just need a letter of compliance from the manufacturer (which we have) and current/up to date registration. Is there anything else we need and is there any advice you can give us that will make our trek across the border easier? Thanks gang!!!

  3. For those of you who have used your AP travel document, has anyone ever had any problems crossing back into the US? My husband and I are getting ready to head back to Canada and we're a little apprehensive about the process. Does anyone have any insight and experience you can share with me? Thank you:)

  4. Hi guys, I've got two inquiries today:

Firstly, I couldn't help but notice on other people's timelines that those who have had their biometrics around the beginning of March have already received approval for thier EAD's. My husband's biometric was February 18th and he still hasn't received his EAD. Did we miss a step where we had to send something in and that's why he hasn't gotten approval yet? Or are they just unfortunately lagging on our case. Likewise, is there a number we can call to find an update of his case?

Secondly, we did receive his I-512L, Authorization for Parole of an Alien into the US. This is the document we need so he can take a quick trip back up to Canada, then come back down to the US, correct? I read it and reread it several times, and it looks kosher but you can never be too safe with all the different immigration laws!

I really appreciate your answers and help!! Thank you!!!

  5. Hi Guys,

My husband just had his medical examination 2 weeks ago in Vancouver for his K-1 visa, and obviously he passed it because we are now married and applying for his AOS. In regards to the I-693, the directions state that as long as the overseas medical was performed within the last year, that he is exempt from performing another medical but that he must still show proof that he completed the vaccination requirements (straight off the uscis website).

Firstly, is the "proof" referring to the DS 3025?

Secondly AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, does this mean that we don't need to have a civil surgeon sign off on the I-693, because every doc I called wanted to re-perform the examination and charge us full price, which is asinine because the directions clearly state he doesn't have to have another exam! If this is not the case and don't have to have a doc sign off for us, do we even include the I-693, or do we just send in our "proof" of his immunizations?

This is a HUGE help because I can't get answers anywhere else and we really don't want to get yet another medical exam and pay yet another fee if we don't have to. Thanks so much you guys!

  6. Hi guys, I've just got two questions.

Firstly, do I have to add proof of my husband's and my relationship into our I-485 package that we send off to Chicago, or do I bring that to the interview? What's our best bet there?

Secondly, what is the benifit of getting my husband a social security number? Is it something that's dire and we need to get it for him, or can we get away with not having it? What are your experiences? Thanks gang:)

  7. Hi guys,

Just a couple questions. My fiance and I got married yesterday (yay) and I am now filling out our I-485 form. Already I'm running into a couple problems. Firstly, I've looked everywhere on his passport, and I can't seem to find an I-94 number. Is this applicable to Canadians crossing the border, or am I just massively blind? Secondly, he doesn't have a US social security number. Am I missing something here? Was he issued it or do we have to apply for one before we fill out the I-485? Any help would be fantastic. Thank you!

  8. Hi all,

So here we are at the final stage! My fiance's interview is Thursday in Vancouver and at this point in time, I'm starting to review all our paper work...over and over and over again! Does anyone know if I have to give copies of my tax returns for my affidavit of support? Out of everything I've read, either here or on the directions page for the I-134, it sounds like you only need tax returns if you are self-employed - which I'm not. However I can't help but feel paranoid that I left something out! We have all our other paper work including my verification of employment, bank records and statements. If you can help me that would be totally swell! Thanks gang:)

  9. Hi guys,

We just got our letter in the mail with our interview date for next Thursday (finally!!!). We're booking the flight for Vancouver and we were wondering how quickly after the interview do we get the K1 visa (if approved of course). I've read in a couple different areas that people go into their interview, and then go down to the Vancouver Consulate 2 days later to pick up their visa. Is this true? If so, what are the chances of having our interview on Thursday and getting the visa by Saturday? Can anyone help me out and give me a timeframe of your experiences? Thanks!

  10. Hi guys,

Some quick questions because I couldn't find anyanswers on other posts. So we are getting ready to make the appointment for our medical, but we're a little confused on the vaccinations that we have to have beforehand. Looking at the website that Woking Medical (the panel physician office in Vancouver) gives online (http://wokingmedical.com/Vaccinations.html) everything is broken up into age groups. Does anyone know if ALL of these vaccinations are applicable, or if it's just the particular age group that is applicable to my fiance? For example, his medical records state that he has never had his series of Hep B shots, which is obviously done in baby/childhood, but his age group (27-49) doesn't require it. So is he getting these shots, along with some others that were supposed to be done in his childhood. Or are we just getting the couple of vaccinations for his age? This would be a huge help because he's afraid of needles and we don't want to over vaccinate/overpay if we don't need to. THANKS!!

  11. hey gang,

i went down to get my police certificate today in edmonton, and they gave it to me with no problems. the guy assured me the certificate would meet all requirements for the fiancee visa interview, and according to my instructional paper the consulate sent over, it looks like this police cert is the exact report i need. the onLy problem is they never fingerprinted me. do i need fingerprints? i've never been convicted of anything, no criminal background, and i think they only want fingerprints if you have been convicted. but could someone just verify that for me because i don't want to walk into my interview with the wrong thing and be SOL. thank you!

  12. Hi guys,

Our I-129F petition just went through the National Visa Center and is on its way to Vancouver. After the interview, roughly how long does it take until you have your K1 visa in hand, and how does it get to you? Does it come in the mail or can you go down to the Consulate and pick it up? The reason I ask is because from everything that I've read online, it looks like the visa is issued anywhere between the day of the interview to a couple days after. And based on this info, the plan I've brewed in my head is flying from Edmonton (where I live) to Vancouver, doing the interview, getting the visa while in Vancouver (if we're approved), and just driving down to California, which is the final destination. Is this a realistic plan or does the visa arrive by mail to my address in Edmonton? Your advice can really help me figure out my plans and my plane tickets! Thanks so much:)

  13. Hi everyone,

My fiance (who lives in Canada) is getting read to quit his job for personal reasons. We've already sent our I-129F in and are waiting for the NOA2. He has money saved up and doesn't want another job until he moves down here after we receive the K-1 visa. Does he have to have a job to get approved for a K1 visa, or can he be unemployed? Would it hurt our chances of getting approved if he were unemployed? I would think that it doesn't matter, and they (government officials) would care only if I could support him financially or not. Can anyone help me out? Also, what does it take to get his truck down here? We plan on driving down once approved for the visa, and I think there are car smogging laws, etc that we have to abide by? If I could get a website or something that'd be great. Thanks!
