  1. My wife and I had a visit to a US Civil Surgeon today to correct an incomplete vacinnation record and to get any injections that she was lacking.

My wife was unaware that anything was wrong while in the Philippines. She tried to give the medical tech in the Philippines her shot records and they just said "no need" and marked everything as "Not age appropriate" if they didn't give her the vacine.

No surprise that USCIS does not like this. According to the civil surgeon, one vacine was marked "complete" when a 3rd dose was required and she only had 2, and another one was marked "incomplete" when it showed St. Luke's giving her the one and only dose.

This prompted the US Civil Surgeon to pour over her shot records that were written by her Philippines doctor, which looked like notes on prescription paper and stated only that she had vacinnations (but no dates of when these were given). The Civil Surgeon was like "#######?" and told us he would not state that she had the vaccine without knowing the date it was given.

To make a long story short, the mess was eventually straightened out and the corrected vacination report has been resubmitted (The I-693 or whatever it was). Just a note to everyone when filing for AOS, to check the vacination report. Make sure it's says it's complete. And for those of you who think that if your husband or wife passes the medical in their country, it doesn't necessarily mean that they had all their vacinations. If they didn't receive everything, the report is going to be incomplete and you'll need to see a civil surgeon to complete it.

  2. It will likely be cheaper to get the vaccinations completed before visiting the CS. If you can't go through your regular doctor, check at the health department.

I went ahead and scheduled a regular doctor appointment for the remaining vacinnes and found a civil surgeon to transfer the vaccines over to the I-6 whatever it was.... You definately have to shop around for the best price on civil surgeons. One wanted to charge me $215, another one closer to my work is charging $42.50 for the same thing. And what's up with the $215, cash only, no credit cards or checks? Seems shady to me. Should I report it?

  3. Thank you to all who replied. I did get the RFE letter today. The Vaccination record is incomplete and was not signed. The Vaccination Worksheet does in fact state "incomplete" on it.

I will have my wife go to a civil surgeon next week to transcribe the vaccinations on the proper form and to receive whatever is lacking.

I don't know if this will be the only RFE letter I receive, but I hope they included everything on it.

  4. Did you remember to write on the back of the photos? The instructions say "name and alien number printed lightly on back in pencil or felt pen"

I don't know if this is why I received the RFE yet, but I think I forgot this. I did everything else that was mentioned. I don't think I'm the only one who forgot to do this, so hopefully if they can't write the name themselves, they'd be nice enough to mail them back with the RFE notice. I could always hope, right?

  5. certainly, ur missing the I-693,certified by a USCIS designated civil surgeon if u havent completed yet ur vaccination record. Try to include 2007,2006 Tax returs

I double check with my wife, and she say that we did actually submit the DS 3025 vacinnation record with the AOS, which the AOS instructions say is acceptable with a K-1 visa. I'll wait until we receive the letter and I'll keep everyone informed on what was required. Thanks!

  6. I am confused as to why our AOS is in "Requiring Initial Evidence". I should be patient and wait the 15 days for the letter to arrive, but I am not the patient type. I was wondering if the readers here could help me and try to figure out what I missed.

I filled out the AOS on January 8th, 2010 and did not have my 2009 taxes yet. I submitted my most recent return of 2008 and had an employment letter stating what my 2009 salary was. Here is what I submitted to USCIS.

I-485 Application to Register Residence or Adjust Status

(envelope has payment of $1010 and 2 passport-style photos 2x2)

-- Birth Certificate and Supporting Documents (for corrected spelling)

-- Copy of passport page with nonimmigrant K-1 visa

-- Vaccination report from St. Luke's

    -- G-325A, Biographic Information Sheet

-- I-864 Affidavit of Support (based of K-1 visa)

-- Employment letter stating 2009 salary

-- Most recent Federal Tax Return (2008)

    -- I-797 Petition approval notice

-- Official copy of Marriage Licence

    -- I-94 Departure Record

    I-765 Application for Employment Authorization

    (envelope has 2 passport-style photos 2x2)

    -- I-94 front side

    -- I-94 back side

    -- Passport K-1 visa

I didn't do the advance parole document because I didn't think it was needed. For these other two forms though, does it look like I missed anything?

  7. I had a general question about the international airport in San Francisco. My girlfriend is arriving under a K-1 visa, and I will be meeting her there for the next leg of our journey to Oklahoma.

I am uncertain about the information I received. I will be waiting in the area for Philippines Airlines. Does she have only one way out of customs before she sees me? I was uncertain whether she could take another exit and we totally miss each other.

  8. I had a question about the visa processing time after turning in missing documents.

My fiance had her interview without the overseas Police Clearance (due to shipping error). She had her interview on a Thursday and turned her missing document in the following Monday. I called on Friday afternoon, and for 4 days, it has been under review.

Her case is not complicated with land, children or previous marriages from either of us. Does 'under review' mean that it's being processed? What is the normal time for a visa to be processed after turning in missing documents?

yes after the interview she gave the whitepaper because im incomplete...then when i went there nov.23 to pass my documents she told me cash on delivery...we want to know only how many days we can receive my visa for that case,,,we are worried now because our wedding is this coming dec 28..he called already in usembassy in manila he told that its still reviewing the consule again..but not yet processing.. then they told 5-10 days or 6 weeks..im worried if become 6 weeks...

  10. I wasn't sure which forum to post this, but here goes....

My fiance is arriving soon to through San Francisco under a K-1 visa. I would like to meet her there to decrease her stress in a busy airport. When I looked at several sources at the airport, it gave me the impression that there are actually two exits out of customs. Is this true? I was hoping there would be just one.

Also, I was looking for and didn't get any clear answers on documentation needed. I know she'll need her visa, passport, and other documents that she will get on the plane, but my sources didn't list anything else. Are there any other documents, such as copies of anything or support documents that she needs for customs?

  11. I was going to give the name of the courier, but I forgot the name which is probably best, so they can't accuse me of talking bad against the company. But I will say it's a sister company of DHL.

Some of this was our fault, going into the interview without a foreign police clearance that was taking way too long to process. However, once my girlfriend arrived in Manila, she was told that the remaining document for our interview just arrived in Cebu. "GREAT!" we both said, and thought we would be able to ship the document next dar air and was told by the shipping company that we would receive it by 12:00pm the next day. We were hoping that her cousin could pick up the document at the hotel and run it over to the embassy as soon as possible.

07:00am - Girlfriend starting the interview process, turning in papers, etc.

10:00am - Interview status: PASSED UPON RECEIVING POLICE CLEARANCE

10:30am - Where is the Police Clearance? Why is the tracking number invalid when it's showing up on the website? Can we talk to anyone who knows what they're doing?

11:00am - Girlfriend upset and griped out the DHL office at the mall. She's now going to the main DHL office.

11:15am - I talk to someone in shipping and they say the document is out for delivery already and I asked them to call my girlfriend to arrange for delivery. They said they will call immediately after I hang up.

11:16am - I told my girlfriend through text message to go back to hotel and that shipping will contact them.

12:10pm - Girlfriend says that nobody contacted her. I called shipping back and they said the package already out for delivery again and that they will call her at 1:00pm to arrange pickup because they are at lunch now.

2:00pm - Girlfriend says that nobody contacted her. She calls courier herself and they said they already attempted delivery twice and will be awhile for them to make it back (What? They said they tried not too long ago, which is false because the girlfriend was sitting in hotel lobby since 11:16am

3:00pm - Called the courier, they said someone will be there soon, that the driver is trying to deliver the document right now to her.

4:00pm - Girlfriend getting tired of waiting at hotel lobby for the package.

4:20pm - I plead one last time with Courier and ask them where the package is. They ask for me to hold for 30 minutes (yes, that's what they said "Can you hold for 30 minutes?" ummm....sure, it's only 60 cents a minute for long distance with Skype and I've already spent about $20 USA on phone calls today, so why not???)....i somehow get disconnected after 20 minute hold

4:45pm - Girlfriend receives document. However, the USA embassy only allows missing documents to be submitted between the times of 1:00pm to 2:30pm, Monday through Thursday. Called the embassy and they won't make any exceptions to the rule, even if the courier was slow. Tomorrow is Friday, so I'll have to fly her back on Monday to hand-deliver the documents to the embassy (no more mailing for us).

So even though we should have been happy that she will be coming to the USA and the visa is accepted, the frustrations with the courier service put a bad taste in our mouths due to the broken promises and lies that we were told. I know this could have been prevented by leaving the document in Cebu, but we were hoping our happy day had a different outcome with the courier.

  12. It's important but, from what I've seen - worst case scenario, if it doesn't arrive in time for the interview, the consulate may very likely ask to see the document when it comes in and base their final decision on that.

Another question I forgot to post above....If the document is already processed and stuck in the mail, could the consular or another worker at the embassy call the Police Agency in Singapore and ask them what the results were? We have the phone number and the persons name who processed the application.

  13. I was wondering how important the Foreign Country Police Clearance is in an interview (We've been trying for almost 5 weeks to obtain a Police Clearance from Singapore when it should have taken 2-3 and now it's interview time). The Police Clearance is in the mail, but it's tied up in Manila for another week, possibly 2.

The visit to Singapore happened 6-7 years ago. My question is, how important is this document during the interview? Will they deny her visa? Even though we will surrender the document to them when we receive it, will they delay visa processing? Will they make her attend another interview on a different day?

Even though my fiance and I were both confident at first about the interview, not having the Police Clearance in time is a little worrying to me.

  14. I wasn't sure if I needed her social security card or not to marry (will find this out next Monday when I go to the courthouse to make sure I have everything in order...I thought i was fine as long as we had her birth certificate, certiicate of no marriage and passport)

I thought under normal circumstances (K1 visa), I could only apply for a social security number for her after she gets her employment authorization (which is done at the same time as the adjustment of status, which can only be done after marriage). If that's not the case, they need to update their instructions (I've been victim of instructions not being up to date several times during the visa process, haha)

Is it possible to get her social security ahead of time? If so, where do I go?

  15. I wasn't sure where to post this, and I couldn't find any helpful information on the internet.

My fiance and I have agreed to have a civil wedding in Oklahoma. The marriage date will be somewhere inbetween December 28 and the 31st. My question is.....is the marriage valid from the day the judge performs the ceremony? (The reason why I got confused is that I read that it takes several weeks in some cases to receive the document). Another reason why I'm concerned if it's valid immiediately is that I'd like to claim the marriage on my 2009 taxes (might as well, right?)

  16. My Fiance is in the situation where she will need to have a Police Clearance from another country because she's lived there over 6 months.

That is no problem; we have the application submitted and just awaiting for the processing to be completed and mailed, but due to the available dates of the interview, we scheduled an earlier interview date of November 19th. If the Police Clearance arrives as expected, she'll receive the document within a few days to spare of the interview cancelation/reshedule date.

In case the document does not arrive on time, is it necessary to reschedule the interview? Is it possible to have the interview and just not process the visa until the document arrives at the embassy? What would you do in my situation if the document doesn't arrive on time?

  17. I'm confused on the instructions on the application fees for St. Luke's.

The instructions state that the fee is $213.35 USA in peso only. Do we convert the money at the bank and keep the receipt of the money and the exchange rate at the time we converted it? Or do we not need to worry about it, and the cashier at St. Luke's will say "the fee is 10,500" and we pay whatever they specify?

  18. What should I do? NOA2 to NVC hasn't happened yet, the NOA2 date was October 1st. I see all these timelines where it take 2-3 days to arrive, but NVC doesn't have our documents yet. I've called several times and all they tell me is that it could take up to 90 days to arrive. However, VisaJourney.com states that documents with a NOA2 date of October 15th are being worked on right now. It's very frurtrating when the average time is 4-5 days and I am now in day 21 with no arrival.

Operators are getting mad at me and they just keep telling me to wait up to 3 months for them to receive it. I want some action, especially when it appears that it's lost somewhere. What should I do?

  19. We've been having a frustrating time waiting for NVC to receive my NOA2 from Vermont. I've seen many timelines where it takes 2 days to a week. It's been 17 days for us and NVC still doesn't have it yet. I've called NVC and they said it could take up to 90 days to receive, but I noticed 2 timelines where the NOA2 from Vermont was sent after mine and NVC already received it and processed it. Wonder what's going on, it's frustrating.

  20. Touches (when last updated date changes) may or may not have any meaning (to you/us) - you are still in line with the predicted timeline (November) so for now just relax.

It's hard to relax now. The petition was approved. :D Vermont is on the ball now, I received a notice on July 28th that they received it and on October 1st, they're mailing me an approved letter.
