  1. The tax return is the 1040 (or similar form) but it is not valid for immigration purposes without the corresponding W2 forms that are needed to file taxes. You need to submit copies of both. If the W2s are not available then a tax transcript is your next option. As Malrothien said, you can get them for free by calling the IRS.

    Diana

So do we send the original W2 and 1040 to NVC? or a photocopy is fine? From my understanding, you can only request a copy of 1040 and not an actual W2 from IRS.

  2. How are you guys so calm and patient about this? I feel like I die a little everyday when I see no progress on our NOA2. I'm really hoping this week is our week. Come on CSC, it's time to start churning.

Yeah, I stressed out a whole lot the past 4 weeks and I decided I can't be doing this to myself because its affecting my productivity at work. I have to accept the fact that this journey will be a marathon and not a race, so there's really no shortcut here, bottom line is we all have to wait, hopefully sooner than later though.

just try to find things to keep your mind off this process

Yeah, need to kick back the old habit of taking my camera out in the open and start taking snapshots of interesting andd colorful objects :D

thats how my mindset was before and when i got approved, i panicked!:blush: because i was expecting to get a word from USCIS early november. now i am scrambling getting my docs together.

Yeah? lol. Well, I still have to make sure im on top of things, because we all know we can't slack when it comes to this matter :D

  3. Please don't post false information. A "touch" DOES NOT!!!!!!!! mean that an adjucator has review your file. It simply means SOMEONE has touched it, be it to be moved to a file room, to be moved to another desk, etc.

Sorry. Thats the same information ive got from the many posters on this site. Glad, I was corrected because thats what I thought all along.

  4. It has a lot to do with timing. Maybe you filed during an off-week and it got approved quickly. Or maybe your file fell to the floor and got kicked under the desk and is recovered after four months when somebody comes in to sweep. Mostly has to do with luck. Or maybe they are sleeping on the job. Hard to tell.

That is like one of my biggest fear. I work in a similar setting where people sends proof of their identity (SSN cards, D's passports etc) but oftentimes we have people in our department who does'nt do their jobs very well which impedes proper processing.

Another time Ive heard of instances where employyes simply is not on top of things because A. they're going through a difficult situation in life as well or b. they dont value their job.

Saddly depending on the country most cases are taking a lot longer due to extended processing and background checks that have to be done.

    I agree

:rofl::rofl:so thats what happened to my file

I hope that does'nt happen to anyone LOL.

  5. This question is for my grandmother who is 73 years of age. She's a permanent resident whose been here in the US for 4 yrs. She has some medical conditions and would like to get her spouse (My Step Grandfather) in US, ASAP.

Would you suggest sending the I-130 now while she's only a green card holder? Or should she wait for eligibility to apply for a US Ctizenship (which is another year), wait for due process, then file her petition?

Any suggestions, ideas and.or help would be appreciated.

  6. I also just sent the basics and 3 affidavits, one from SO's friend at the wedding, one from a hired witness at the wedding and one from my mom who watched my children while I went to Africa to get married. As you can see from my timeline, our process went very quick. I don't believe in heavy loading (I know others disagree). I don't because I used to work in a government office and I can tell you from experience the large files are left for a day when the person feels like dealing with it. The smaller and well organized files are processed first.

Thanks. WhidbeyGirl. Just the kind of stuff I want to hear! lol...to be fair with myself, I think I did send the necessary dccuments. I wish i have one more affidavit but other than that, I sent Bank/Loan/Credit Card letters proving we where joint account holders and a marriage certificate.

I just feel like LOL'ing right now because had I know we could loaded our package just a little bit more.

  7. In a sense, this thread for some of us is moot. But I juest need a peace of mind in this time of stress and anxiety.

Whn you guys submitted your I-130, did you send wedding pictures or pictures of you and your spouse in general along with some letters, e-mails/chat logs etc? lol

Im knocking myself in the head now after readin a whole lot of threads in this site. I wish I stacked up heavily when submitting our application. All I sent is wahst requested (Marriage certificate, financial documents and 1 sworn affidavit from my aunt lol)

I thought the Marriage Certificate along with some bank transcripts would be enough. Damn it!@!!!!

  8. As the title states, i have been finlge under a single status on my tax returns for the past 2 yrs. This did'nt even cross my mind until recently. When i filed my returns back then, I was told that there's really no point filing under married because my wife is not even a resident here nor does she work here.

I did change the status to "married" a week ago by filing a W4 with my HR. Is this going to be a huge issue and may eventually affect my petition for my spouse?

    Pls advice

  9. hey guys :star: don't be discouraged CSC has taken a break from the CR1/IR1's for over a week now they are processing K1's from what i've seen, i was told that the priority does change sometimes especially if they get backed up  i'm going on about 41 days since my last touch and 43 since my NOA1 so keep the faith i'm right here with you guys :dance::dance: BTW when they do pick back we'll see APPROVALS left & right!:dance:

thx for the update. i know its a long journey and eventhough its a case by case basis, i believe some of us are expecting a fast turnaround after seeing quick approvals from other september filers :D

yes its very tempting  but USCIS does not seem to have a order that they go by they basically process them randomly so it could be anyone  hang in there guys they will pick up again soon  BTW don't worry about the "touches" most of the APPROVALS i've seen did not get one before APPROVAL ;) a matter of fact some got NOA2 by mail and the website still shows "initial review"

you're just a burt of knowledge ms. sheka. thanks for all that, now i know not to put too much weight on that "touch" update

  11. According to my math - your $45-$47k annual income would be enough to qualify for a household size of 8 (less if Hawaii or Alaska). So unless your household is larger than that, you should be fine.

By household, im assuming people who are dependent on me right? If that's the case it would be just my wife. I do live with my family (Mom, Grandma) of course but they all have their respecting jobs and support their own.

  12. I dont know where to find a guideline or chart of some sort. Im in the process of petitioning for my spouse. I dont have a lot of assets, besides a roughly $3-4k savings in the bank, but I have been employed for the same company for 5 years, making $45-47k annually for the past 3 years, do you think I would qualify based on those merits? or is another sponsor necessary?
