  1. Oh yeah,Indeed, I am luckier then;-), I thought they charged me too much as some Vj info they only paid 20-50USD for transcribed.

    Have a great day! :-)

Hi! Im from the Philippines too and I had my medical at St Lukes as well last January 2010. Fortunately, I didn't go to the Civil Surgeon to transcribe I just use the DS-3025 from St Lukes and they approved me without any problem. I was at first hesitant to just send it but we decided to personally go to USCIS office for information (INFOPASS) and they told us that DS-3025 is sufficient as long as it's within one year. God bless...

  2. Thanks Nich-Nick

So how safe would it be to assume that if all the vaccinations have something written(or checked) in front of them, then I am good to go?

I think I am okay and don't need to cough up more money for medical but I am also trying to weigh it against a RFE...

We had the same question when we filed my AOS and we were advised to just send the DS-3025 and not the I-693. We were lucky that they accepted it without giving RFE and without spending money for the civil surgeon.

  3. I just sent the DS-3025. If I get a RFE then I get a RFE. I don't see the point in spending money unless I really have to. If I get a RFE then I will go to a CS.

I just sent the DS-3025, so far there's no RFE and I have my biometrics sched on the 20th. It really depends on what is more important to you. Getting the AoS as fast as possible, or saving some money. If you can afford to wait a few more weeks if you get an RFE, then try it first without the new medical

  4. Hello VJyers!!

I am scheduled for medical exam tomorrow for my AOS. I just want to know what to expect. Is the process the same as that in the Phils.?

    Thanks for the help!

    Hi!

Im just wondering why you have to go through the medical exam again for AOS...All you have to do is submit the copy of your DS-3025 (the copy of vaccination record that they gave you at st luke's) or I-693. As for me, I didn't go to the civil surgeon or have medical exam here in the US, we just sent the copy of DS-3025 and I didn't receive an RFE. In some cases I heared people received an RFE and some are not. It really depends on what is more important to you. Getting the AoS as fast as possible, or saving some money for another medical.

The I-693 instructions state that you are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485 is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. Regardless of if you are exempt from a medical exam, you are still required to complete certain portions of the I-693 and have a Civil Surgeon certify the form (and seal it in an evelope). If you do not have a copy of your DS-3025 you will need to provide sufficient evidence of your vaccination history to the Civil Surgeon (talk to the civil surgeon's office to discuss what vaccination records they accept as proof).

Good luck on your AOS journey!

  5. Hi everyone,

We just want to know if i can go to any USCIS application support center for my biometrics once I receive my appointment letter bcoz I am going to travel to CT for a 3 weeks vacation and I am residing in AZ. Is the appointment notice from USCIS with a specific place where I will have my fingerprints and/or photos taken or can I do that in CT USCIS ASC branch? Thanks for all the help :)

  6. If you would fill out your Timeline and status of what you are applying for people could help you better. Those ( ) ( ) ( ) will be different for various people filing the form, depending on how they got to the US and on what basis they are filing. You are probably in the category found on page 4 of the Instructions under #7 if you are applying for work authorization along with an AOS application. There are also example forms filled out if you look in the lighter blue menu bar of this page and click "Example Forms".

On the travel document you can say "none scheduled." It's always a good idea to file for AP because it's free and things happen that you least expect.

    $1010 is correct

    Photocopies of documents are fine.

1 tax return is sufficient, but 3 is good too. I would send a different kind of financial proof too like a letter from employer or couple months worth of pay stubs (photocopies).

Read the Guides found on a tab on the top menu. You'll get a lot of information. Find any link that applies to you and read, read, read.

Wow that's awesome that they accept photocopy of marriage certificate...we sent photocopies of other docs except for marriage cert bcoz the guidelines says "A certified copy of your marriage certificate"...If I've known that I would keep our certified copy of marriage cert..

  7. I have a couple of questions on filing the AOS for my fiancee. On the I765, question 16 I dont understand, its got ( ) ( ) ( ) and says to go to part 2 for instructions but I dont see a part 2. I think it might only pertain to someone with a degree or certification but I want to know what to put there or if I can just leave it blank. Second question is on the I131, it ask about travel plans etc., I was going to fill this out in case she had to return to the Philippines for any reason but she has no travel plans at this time, should I just write "none" or should I just ignore this form if my fiancee dosent plan on traveling outside the USA? 3rd question is do I send exactly $1010 for with my I485 submission or is their any other fees? 4th question is I saw where it says to send a certified copy of your marriage certificate, can I just send a photocopy of the original or what kind of certification do I need. The last question I have is with myI-864 submission, should I send more than just my last 3 years tax returns, any other advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    David

    Hi David,

    1) As a K-1 holder filing for Adjustment of Status (AOS) you are eligible to file for an EAD at the same time. Your EAD packet can be filing along with your AOS packet and mailed together. You will file as category ©(9), "adjustment applicant"...Just put ©(9) on that I-765 part.

    2) For I-131, we just followed the example form http://www.visajourney.com/examples/INS-Form-I-131.pdf...though it's really your decision whether or not you want to send it, I would suggest to send it coz you don't have to pay extra for this in any case she needs to travel outside US.

    3) You're right, the exact amount is $1010 and no other fees

    4) We sent the certified copy and not the photocopy

    5) I think last 3 years of tax return is enough

Good luck on your AOS journey!

  8. Hey Im in AZ too, where abouts are you, we are in lake havasu city. With regard to flying, we are going to chicago in a few weeks and i called the uscis to ask the same thing. They said that as long as you married within the 90 days then you are not here illegally, so just take your passport and/or driving license and have a good time.

Nice! we are in Gilbert :) Thanks.

  9. hi, i have more questions

i work in washington and i stay in aparment with my co-workers.

is it ok if i tell USCIS that my fiancee intend to live at my parents place in california?

when my fiancee arrives in US my fiancee will be relocate with me in washington when we get married.

is it ok that my fiancee's g-325a is printed and my g-325a and i-129f is hand writing?

That would be ok, I don't see any problem about that arraangement as well as the forms being printed or handwritten. good luck!

  10. Thank you very much for your input. Let me clarify question #3. I know it needs to be brought to the embassy but are they going to ask for each individual document at different times or just turn in everything during the interview. I ask only because I've been reading some other topics on this forum saying that I have to mail things in.

For question #2 I do have my W-2 form and I my fiance currently has it. I just don't have the Form 1040.

First, you will have to go the counter to submit your forms 2 DS-156 [with 2x2 picture on both forms paste it], 2 DS-157 [1 with bank validation, they dont need the receipt anymore], 1 DS-156k and email appointment letter). Once youre given a number the next step is initial interview where you have to submit the ff: Birth certificate, NBI clearance, CENOMAR, i-134 and W-2 (I don't remember giving form 1040), pictures, and emails and you will be advise to prepare your original proofs of engagement just in case consul will look for it. The interview is really quick like 5-10 mins and the questions are mostly about your fiance. Good luck!

  11. Hi All. Just wanted to check in with an update.

We entered the country just fine at NY JFK port of entry on Monday April 5 at 2pm.

Today we went down to social security, armed with everything listed in the visajourney SSN guide and all the info I've gathered through reading people's experiences. The woman at social security (Newburgh, NY) seemed very diligent and knew what she was talking about. She said she did not see my fiance in the SAVE system and said that I should attempt again at the end of next week (April 15-16). She said it was possible for me to fill out an SSN application today, but advised against it. I declined and said that I would try back at a later date.

She also said once the SSN office sees her in the SAVE database and we submit the SSN application that it goes to Dept. Homeland Security and they must approve the application prior to the SSN office being able to issue the SSN. She said DHS has the application about 2-3 days, sends it back to the SSN offie, then the SSN office issues a SSN.

Another thing she mentioned is that every time an inquiry is made for an SSN in this type of situation (a person awaiting recognition in the SAVE database) ,there is a record of the inquiry kept in the system. She said sometimes, when multiple inquiries are made a person will be input to the SAVE system faster. I'm not sure I believe this, but whatever. Anyone ever hear of this?

Basically, I'm not sure how other people have gone down to the SSN office the day after POE and gotten an SSN number. Its a bit frustrating that the system is not consistent, but I guess I'll just deal with it.

The plan is still to go down to town hall this saturday and apply for a marriage certificate. I shouldn't have a problem according the town clerk that I spoke with. The wedding is May 1st.

Hi, i would suggest for you to go to social security at least 2 weeks of US entry, that's the wait time for her entry to be save in their database/system. All you have to bring is the I-94 (usually attached in her passport), passport and birth certificate if any. Congratulations on your wedding!

  12. please any one else has had medical at st lukes with just the NVC case number? i need u guys help really bad. thanks.

hi! your fiancee will be fine going there without that letter. I had my medical at st lukes last january 22, 2010 and I didn't bring that letter too...they asked me about the letter and I told them that I leave it at home and there's no further question as long as you know your case number.

  13. Hi everyone! I had my interview on monday feb 1st and I got K1 visa approved I just want to know how many days does it takes for me to receive it. We are planning to book my flight on feb 15th even without the visa on hand. Do you think I can have my visa before that day? We really have to book a flight so I can attach a copy of my plane ticket to my resignation letter because my company is requiring me to at least give them my flight confirmation since I wasn't able to inform them 30 days before my resignation date. Thanks everyone and God bless.

  14. I am filing for a K-1 VISA and my fiancee may be losing his job of 7 years. We are at the NOA 2 stage so we are wondering if our I 134 gets denied, can we resubmit with a co-sponsor? He has assets (including his house, and savings that should be sufficient, but his job is downsizing and he may lose his job between now and the time of my interview at the embassy. We would like to avoid using a co-sponsor, but we also dont want to run into problems if we submit the I 134 and it does not get approved. Does anybody know what happens if your I 134 is declined?
