  1. Haven't posted in this thread in a while but I'm happy to say that we just had out interview at the embassy today and we were approved!

No blue slip and they kept her passport telling s they would mail it to us within a week! I think we are the first VSC October K1 filers to get to this point. It was an insanely fast 93 days from petition sent to interview approval at the Embassy in Seoul, Korea.

Interview was very short and the only questions asked were:

    How did you meet?

When did you decide to get married?

When will you go to the US?

and Where will you stay in the US?.

The whole process took us an hour and a half from the moment we walked in the embassy. We are so happy now and we wish everyone good luck in their visas as well! :star:

  2. In my instructions for packet 3 it says:

If deemed to be available, as a minimum you must obtain a police certificate from your country of nationality and your country of current residence if your presence there occurred after age 16 and was 6 months or more. Police certificates are required from other countries for all stays of 12 months or more after age 16.

Does my fiancee have to get a police cert. from canada if she lived there for 10 months after the age of 16. but is not currently living there now?

Yes, since she was there for longer than 6 months, and she was 16 or older. Here is a link to another thread that gives lots of information about getting police certificates for people from outside Canada.

Hope this helps. If not, you might try posting this in the Canada forum.

seems like getting this little piece of paper is going to be a hassle. In any case would you suggest that we still schedule an interview even if we don't get the certificate in time? I only ask because I am going to Korea next week and we have everything except for this Canadian police certificate. It would be the only chance that i would have to go to the interview with my fiancee so i want to make it look like we are a committed couple. Even though we probably will get place on AP until we get the Canadian police certificate, if anything we can avoid the increasing fees from $131 to $340 that will happen next year right?

  4. We just got our NOA2 not too long ago and now i wanna get prepared for the next steps. I am a full time college student that will be graduating in May. My father will sponsor us, they do accept a sponsor at the Korean Embassy right? My question is, I know both my father and I have to do the i134, but what exactly would I provide in my i134 if i haven't worked in the past 2 years. Do I have to provide any proof of enrollment or anything from my school? What can I use to show my income if I don't have any?

  5. Wow, just got a text from the VSC saying my application is approved. No way did I think it would get approved that fast especially since it seems like it takes 3 months to get the NOA2. I thought at first it was a mistake, but seeing other people's timelines now it appears I am not alone. I didn't even start preparing for the next step since I thought I had more time and was going to begin in November. Guess I know what I will be doing this weekend.

    Woot!

Wow congrats man, you must have luck on your side! whats the next step now after you get approved?

  6. Nice! looks like we're on the same boat they cashed my check today as well! Hopefully we can get the hard copy soon because I cant read the case number on the back of the check at all the image is not too great.

I was barely able to read the number on my check and I had to turn my head sideways to read it since my bank wouldn't let me download or rotate the image. But registering didn't tell me anything new except that it was accepted and is now in "Initial Review" - nothing explicit about NOA1.

Any other October filers or soon to be October filers out there? We can't possibly only have two.

I'm sure there are a few more coming. Also got my NOA1 Hard copy yesterday with a Notice date of 10/07/2009 on it. Registered with the uscis and signed up for case updates, I wonder if it will be useful.

  7. Thanks for all the input everyone I finally figured it out. I guess I miss understood the question on the 129F where it ask about how we met within the past 2 years. I thought this meant exactly how many times I've seen her or visited her within the 2 years, when in actually from what you guys are saying it just means how we first met.

So I made a 2 sentence answer to fit in the box and left my romance novel as kind of something to explain our ongoing relationship haha.

As far as evidence goes I included copies of itineraries and boarding passes. Also i used my passport as my proof of citizenship and it has my visa immigration stamps from Korea in there as well that should work right? And the School enrollment cert. from Korea includes attendance dates so it should be fine.

I mailed it to the VSC yesterday with the whole sha-bang in the packet. There goes 455 dollars  haha but we are happy that we have begun our visa journey! good luck to all the rest of you October filers!

  8. Hey guys, I've just finished getting my petition together and ready to mail it tomorrow. I was just wondering is a page and a half single spaced overkill for the 129F supplement? Also are 14 pictures too much to include in the packet?

I've just been following the K-1 Guides on the site and I swear Ive checked every form at least a thousand times but can I just use some airplane tickets from when I went to Korea, and a Certificate of enrollment from the school in Korea that was attending this past summer to learn Korean as proof of having met?

Finally is it really necessary to include proof of an ongoing relationship if its not one of the requirements for the 129F? does uscis even check for that?

  9. To simplify things, can the wedding date be postponed? Then you could file the I-129f for the K-1 as soon as everything is in order. While the I-129 is being processed, you can work out the sponsorship issue. I believe that the co-sponsor provides only detailed financial information along with limited personal data, which they verify, but the fact that he recently remarried is of no concern to the South Korean consulate and there is no likelihood they will know about that. At any rate, your father's marriage is legal, his wife is legal, and so that's that.

The wedding is already set, but it doesn't actually have to be a "real" wedding at least for K1 Visa purposes. It would just act as a ceremony for her family to see. The real wedding and marriage license would be in the US.

Also if my girlfriend has a a passport but would like to apply for a new electronic passport to be able to visit me in the us during the application process would i have to wait until she receives her new passport and passport number to apply for the 1-129F or is that information not relevant to the process until the interview?

  10. Hello everyone my name is Joey. I'll try to keep this short but don't really know where to begin. My girlfriend in a South Korean citizen and currently resides there. We first met in Canada of '07 when at the time she was studying English. We applied for a US visitors visa for her at the US consulate in Toronto in '08. It was approved for a length of 1 year. She came to America to visit me and my family for 3 months and then went back to Korea. I visited her in Korea for a month in December of 08 and again from May to August of 09 to study Korean.

Recently we have been considering ways we can get married and for her to come to America but just are not sure of the route to take. We are planning to get married in Jan. 2010 but are not sure if we should start to apply for a K1 Visa now and call the wedding in January an "engagement ceremony" and not file for a marriage certificate in Korea. Or to actually get married file for a marriage certificate in Korea and start the K3 or CR1 process.

Here is where things gets complicated. I am currently a senior in college without an income. So I know I need a Co-Sponsor. I was thinking of having my grandfather sponsor us but recently he was laid off and now will apply for retirement in up coming months. And I am not sure if I want my Father to co-sponsor us because recently HE just got remarried to a Lao national who was an illegal alien for about 5+ years in the US. I don't know how they did it but now she is legal and just got her green card (conditional) less than one year from when they were married. I'm worried if my dad sponsors us, especially if me and my girlfriend will live at his house after we get married, the government will think something is up with my family where the father and the son are both marring aliens only one year apart from each other.

Sorry to be rambling on for so long but I did not know where else to post this since I'm fairly new to this site and my situation is somewhat complex. But I am hoping that people here can understand and hopefully help us with our whole visa journey!
