    I think there is different restrictions for PIO and OCI.

    I got OCI, I was told that I can free to travel anytime to India... (no 2 months entry restrictions)

    "No 2 months entry restriction" for OCI forced me to get OCI instead of PIO..

    This is Deep2009, I have responded to your post on VJ... I have helped last January 2012 a member of VJ to respond to NOID. He later got approval and went to her second interview in embassy and they are living happily in Bakerfield, CA.

    Even though, they may say that you don't need the NOC from Embassy but when they see you (an american), they can change their mind. Then, you end up getting it from Embassy after your marriage date (not recommended at all).... it is better to have with date before your marriage date.. It helps in immigration process in a big way.

    You have to get NOC - no objection Certificate - It is kind of a certificate for US citizens from Embassy who want to marry a Indian citizen.

    Some of the marriage registrars are asking for it while registering the marriage, it will help you through immigration (appro cost $ 50.00).... You can make appt online with Embassy of US in India day after you reach India. Please email for anyt...

    I think for State of MP, this is the procedure as mentioned in the TOPIC but wait for other people responses.

    BUT passport issue is top on the list.

    For your Q - Senator office inquiry is "congressional inquiry" note on your case.

    It does not matter at the Embassy level that you are US citizen or not.... But it helps because Senator's office must have told that the "amankular" is their voter ward (constituent) and they are looking for her interest.
