  1. This is weird. Our I-129F was also touched on 11 Sept. Our AOS was transferred on 8 Jun but no touches since 21 July. I am going to call USCIS on Monday since our 4 months date is Saturday. Have you called to check on the status of your AOS? If so, what did they say?

Yes. I've called. They told me to wait at least 180 days after case transfer before making any inquiries. 180 days is the USCIS' estimated processing time. If you get a different answer, please let me know.

  2. So about 2 weeks after our case has been received, USCIS

transferred this case I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location for processing

I'm confused since my local office should be the one in Baltimore. What does this mean? What to expect now?

Also, when I tracked my EAD application, I received the following:

On April 12, 2010, the post office returned the notice we last sent you on this case I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION as undeliverable. This may have serious effects on processing this case. Please call 1-800-375-5283 to update your mailing address for this notice to be re-sent.

I don't know what could have caused the mail to be undeliverable. We received NOA1 just fine and I just checked the address on my I-765 application, the address was correct.

  3. My driving learner's permit is expiring soon. I am wondering if there is any way for me to renew it before receiving the actual green card? I figured, since I am a married K1 visa holder and have filed my I-485, my status is valid and I should be able to renew the learner's permit. Is I-797C (NOA1) good enough?

    Thank you all in advance!

    P.S.

My state (Maryland) requires everyone, regardless of age, to hold a learner's permit for at least 9 months before getting a provisional license. This is why I need to renew the learner's permit instead of just getting a driver's license.

  4. It turned out my MMR and TD(tetanus-diphtheria) are still valid and I don't need varicella vaccine since I've had the disease when I was 6. Paid $130 and received an envelope from the local civil surgeon. Thank you, Darnell. I'll update my timeline after I've sent my I-485 package.

hey - FLS !!! have you been 'shotted' yet?

  5. Yes, 30k so far. I am planning to include his w-2 this year, direct deposit and pay raise letter. Would these be sufficient or should we include more documents?

8-months should be plenty - am confused about the $30k-thing though. Do you mean $30k so far? If so, that's not a problem - they will annualise his income (multiply his weekly/bi-weekly/monthly income by the number of those in a year) to come up with a yearly income.

  6. Thank you so much for the quick reply. As I said, we graduated in 2009 so he's been in his current position for 8 months. His income this year will be around 30k.

What is important is that your/his current income is above the minimum - not what is on previous income tax returns. To prove current income, you'll need pay-stubs or some other way, depending on how you're paid. $70k/year is more than enough to not need a co-sponsor. How long has he been in the position he's in now?
