Haven't been here in a while. I was wondering if anyone of you has come across this problem, and what the solution may be.

I have a few CDN stocks and since I'm here in the US now, scotia bank won't keep them for me anymore. Do you kow if there is a brokerage that will keep my CDN stocks as CDN stocks and not convert them to their american equivalent? I have asked questrader, td ameritrade, scottrade, scotia already. They can be canadian or american.

Please help!!

Mr. friendly postman delivered the visa today to the doorstep! Interview was Feb 1st. and delivered on Feb 4th. Who said Canada Post doesnt know what their doing lol. Delivered on 3rd business day. I can definitely live with that. POE tomm! So excited.

Hi all! Got back from Montreal last night and now finally have a chance to sit down and post our review after all the celebrations have died down. We got our "welcome to the United States" speech! Overall the toughest part was waiting in that below freezing weather for 1 hour before they opened the doors but when your inside the building, its a cool summer breeze. By the way Americana, you were not the only VJ poster there that day!

The whole process is very similar to what LGG and Americana have already stated. Got there around 6:40ish, which made us the first in line (beating another couple by a mere 5 seconds) and the doors opened around 7:45am. The interview was no more than 10 minutes. The officer basically had all our papers that we submitted and we never had to even open up our folder. The bulk of the interview time was spent on the officer examining and re-examining our docs, especially domicile. The basic questions were asked like how did you guys meet, where you met, when you met, how your families know each other, what we both do for a living. A whole 1 year process done in 10 minutes!

We asked the officer if we could get the visa same or next day but he would hear none of it and kept stating "it has to be mailed out". By the experiences of other VJers, it looks like the approximate wait time is 3-4 business days after interview.

I've heard of other people not getting a hard copy, and even more people receiving the hard copy three or more weeks after the emailed interview confirmation.

And yes...if they accept emailed letters from EP folks, I have no idea why they wouldn't accept an emailed letter from a non EP person.

We are non EP people. We received our email for the interview couple weeks ago but havent gotten anything in the mail. Are we going to get anything in the mail or is the email all we need to take to the interview as confirmation?

Any idea how long it takes to get the actual visa after the interview? Is it possible to get it on the same day? Has anyone previously asked for their visa to be processed the same day? Did it work?

Well, one never knows with those guys, really... but I have found from my ardent watching, that they usually schedule a batch and if a few days have gone by, it generally means that they are done though, they do say that they schedule into the second week of the month which we aren't at yet so... .

I figure the next batch'll be for February dates. Would be happy to have my theories proven wrong, though.

No one else posted about CR1 interview for Jan....Do we assume Montreal is done scheduling already?

I REALLY hope they schedule some more interviews for Jan.

I'm planning to visit my husband in the US for the first time since my visa processing, but I'm kinda nervous of getting rejected at the border. So I wanted to ask everyone what the best way to go about it is.

Should I fly or drive? What do you usually tell the officer at the the border? Should you just say you are visiting family or that you are waiting for a visa interview and that you are visiting your husband?

Finally, what documents should I take with me, if I don't have a job, to prove my ties here.

I had decided to wait it out till my visa apporoval, but now that we don't have a december interview, its really forced us to reconsider. Especially with the holidays coming up and our first anniversary.

Any help??!!

I have my medical tomorrow, so I'm at home right now.

My dad is taking me and I have to get up at like 4am, ugh.

I hated that, was up at 3am to drive to TO with my family. Worst was they had to goto my mom's consulate (german) to start the stuff for her passport (the old consulate burnt down so they had none of her documentation anymore so it was like starting from scratch. I didnt realize they had already gone though and my medical was over really quickly, was about around 9ish, then I was left standing outside for an hour unable to get ahold of anyone because of course, no cellphones in the consulate. UGH! hopefully yours goes really quickly too.

CanAm - they can come inside with you but you don't go back to the waiting room until you are done in the TO one. Once they take you to start the paperwork most of your waiting is done either in the little hallway on the chairs or in a room waiting for the dr. Your dad can wait inside for you though, but be warned the parking there SUCKS!

I went to the TO office too for the medical. Mine didn't take very long once they got started. I took the GO train to union, so I was by myself. GO or subway may be an option if you don't wanna bother with the parking and have people waiting on you.

we sent our packet 3 to montreal Sept 4, and we're still waiting for our interview as well. Hopefully like you said montreal is being generous with interviews and we get ours in december....errrr...fingers crossed. But ours is K3 not K1. Seems like there aren't a lot of people out there who applied for k3 either.

Many have stopped the k3 route as timewise it runs pretty close with the CR-1 and the CR-1 is a "better" visa than the k3 and costs less!! The k3 was suppose to be a faster visa to reunite couples, but it has slowed down!! Actually we went the K3 and cr-1 route and our CR-1 was completed well in advance of the k3. i had actually moved to the USA before the K3 was approved--got the NOA stating that it had,lol Ya thanks, not required,lol

No way. It took that long eh? I wish my lawyer had advised me better. argh.

As I was already a wreck and she saw that suggestion was pushing me over the edge, she complied and stuck it in my arm.

No bruise, but my arm feels like I was lifting 50lb weights all day.

I am waiting for my interview to be scheduled for the 130 in montreal. I called the NVC today and they said all the slots for November are full now and that we didn't make it. And i have had no news regarding the 129 since i sent them the cheklist a month ago. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!

I just sent out my packet three to the montreal embassy with my checklist, DS156 form, DS160 form and receipt and DS230 form. I wanted to know if there was aDS 156 fee as well that I was supposed to pay. It didn't say anything about a fees in the form?
