  1. Now, I moved out and shacked up with my coworker, it was an office an affair. :bonk: Can we live together if I am not formally divorced yet? How will that affect my GC and ability to remove conditions from residency? Is Adultery cause for being deported?

My husband is not aware of the fact i have been with my co worker for over a year. He travels to Iraq often for DOS. But what happens now? Can he remove the support from my application? He has filed for seperation and I signed. :crying:

Lesson learned, dont leave half naked pics of boyfriend and yourself on your family computer. Same goes for intimate emails and naughty text messages. God I hate online access to the phone bills. He figured it out all the way from IRaq by looking at his phone bill.

What can he do to my immigration status at this point? Please help? Yikes? Should I try returning to my husband? Its an uncontested divorce, so it should be finalized soon. But again, what happens to my status? :help:

Sorry, you should have thought about that before breaking your husband's heart and putting yourself in this mess.

    Go figure.

How was I supposed to know he was going to be looking at the cell bill all the way at his base in Iraq? He found all the late night phone calls and text messages. He returned home and wanted to forgive me but he I only told him it was just friendship. I had no idea it was going to get that far with the coworker. No idea. I did receive a letter few weeks ago stating that my removing conditions for residence was declined if I can't provide info that it was not ?fraudulent? marriage. Is it considered fraudulent if i am moved out to coworkers townhome? The letter is confusing, I submitted my conditions to remove stipulations on residence in April. I think? But now this letter says that I would have to prove it was not a fraudulent marriage by 15th Nov. by providing bank statements, utility bills and joint tnancy contracts. I closed the only joint account about a month ago. no utility bills we lived in his family's home. What do i do? OOOOOOOOh god this is so confusing.

  3. I was browsing through the Virginia DMV requirements for proof of residency and found that they will accept an un-expired Conditional Green Card, and will accept an expired Permanent Green Card. They make a distinction between these two versions of Residency card. I guess the theory is that Conditional GC holders may be deported. :)

I was worried that we might have trouble identifying my wife when we apply for a US passport for our toddler son, but it turns out for a passport they will accept my wife's Thailand passport as her identification. I thought maybe they would require an unexpired Green Card, which she no longer has while waiting for her first 10-year card. But I suppose there are instances where an alien spouse gives birth to a child while visiting on a tourist or student visa, etc.

So what I would generally recommend to everyone is to try to get a driver's license while the 2-year Conditional Green Card is still valid. Ideally, you get this done while the card is still valid and you have the one-year I-797 extension notice. Or, if you already have a license using a 2-year card, you go to DMV and get it extended for one more year when you get the I-797 and while your Conditional card is still unexpired.

If you wait until your Conditional card is already expired, some state DMVs may not accept it as proof of valid residency.

That's exactly what happened to me. Exipred 2yr GC and D/L, and DMV refused to renew my D/L without proof of residence. All I had to do is make an appointment online with Infopass. Go to my local immigration office and get my international passport stamped for a 1-yr-extension. DMV approved stamp and renewd my D/L.

  4. Hello all,

I need all the help I can get from you. I'm in deep trouble :help:

My 2yr green card expired the same day as my driver's license Feb21, 08. I went to get my D/L renewed at the DMV on Feb22 but they needed proof of residency since both my green card and D/L expired. I explained to them at the DMV that I already filed for removal of conditions on Dec 16, 07 and that I received the biometrics appointment letter and did the biometrics. They told me I need to show them the approval letter. I still haven't received that! I understand it takes 5-6 months for the removal of conditions to be processed (formI-751), how am I supposed to drive in the meantime? Please help! What do I do? Any suggestions?! I'm usually good and on time at submitting my applications, but ever since my husband went to Iraq, I have not been the same. I also live and take care of his mentally retarded brother, and I'm just loosing my mind over this D/L renewal issue. I haven't heard from my husband in a week and I'm already going nuts! I don't know what I'm going to do. Please let me hear your suggestions, or if anyone knows someone in my shoes, please direct me to a solution to this mess. :crying:

did you take your Extension letter with you? you should have the INS extension letter already since you even took your bio. All they need to see is the extension letter. If they do not accept it at the DMV, then schedule an info pass, go to the INS and get a stamp into your passport-they will stamp it I-551. That will be accepted by the DMV. Then take your extension letter, your ID, perhaps your leasing agreement, your passport with the I-551 stamp, and your expired drivers license.

That hopefully works for you. I went 4 days before my drivers license and green card expired, and didnt have my passport with the INS stamp. just took the extension letter with me, but I understand that yours expired. good luck!

mimiye, thank you so much for your reply. I don't have an extension letter, only the biometrics appointment letter. I just scheduled an appointment through infopass to see what I can get from my local office. I was told by a representative from the USCIS customer service center (1-800-767-1833) to go to my local office and ask for a temporary evidence of residence. Once they give me that, I can then show it to the DMV! Hopefully that should take care of it.
