  1. Hi,

We have been living in Varanasi (UP) for the last few years, but my husband's permanent address is in Faridabad (Haryana) near Delhi. We are immigrating to the US (via DCF from Delhi).

I know that we will need the PCC form (which is the Form No. 2 from the Regional Passport Office) from Delhi. On that form it asks for present address, permanent address, and other addresses that you have lived at for more than 6 months.

My question is... Will the Delhi Regional Passport Office only issue the PCC (Form 2) AFTER I show them a local police clearance from Varanasi? We went there today (the RPO) and the guy at the enquiry window said that if we have two different addresses on the Form 2, then we will have to get another Form 2 PCC from Lucknow because it wouldn't be possible from Varanasi... that seems really dumb to me and the guy was a jerk anyway and lied about the forms not being available... so... I am wondering...

How do I get a Police Clearance from Varanasi? Which office to I go to? What form do I use (or do I write a letter)? I found a sample one for the state of Haryana here http://haryanapolice.nic.in/download_forms...CATION_FORM.pdf. No info online about VNS or UP.

Also, since the permanent address is in Faridabad, Haryana... will we have to get a separate police check from there, or will the Regional Passport Office one cover that?

    Thanks!

  2. My husband and I are doing DCF from New Delhi. My husband is the immigrant and I am the sponsor. Our petition was accepted, we have the packet 3. My question is about the Affidavit of Support.

We've already concluded that I most likely will not have enough income to sponsor him. I have been living in India the last 4+ years and have very little income. I have tax returns from 2009 (it's getting done now) and 2008, but I didn't file in 2007. I have some assets, but will probably come up short. My parents, who are in the US and US citizens, have agreed to be joint sponsors... one of them will fill out the form, showing both of their incomes. They have enough to qualify. My question is....

Where do they send the I-864 form? Do they send them to me in India and we take them to the interview along with the evidence? Or, do they have to be submitted before hand or in the US?

I'm waiting to send the 'applicant readiness' form until we have the paperwork together. We are getting police clearance certificates (if anyone has advice on doing this in India that would also be appreciated).

I will submit an I-864 form, along with the past 2 years tax returns, bank statements (how many??), driver's license, etc. Is that enough from me? I won't qualify anyway, so are the proofs really necessary?

My mom/stepfather will submit an I-864 form... along with the past 3 years of tax returns, bank statements, etc. Do they need other proof of domicile? What proofs should they send with the form and do they need to be originals or photocopies?

    Thanks!

  3. Thanks for your prompt responses!

I have read on other forums where people with FRO registration were allowed to file from Delhi (they made no mention of the visa though). I have utility receipts and affidavits that show that I've lived in India for at least the last 2 years... but I've been here for 4. My last entry was in January.

Do I need to include a cover letter with the I-130?

  4. Hi, We are just embarking on this journey! Please help us and set us at ease!

I am a US Citizen married (wife) to an Indian (husband). We both currently live in India. We were married in November of 2007. We plan to submit the I-130 next week in Delhi.

    Questions:

Will my FRO registration paper, utility receipts, and affidavits be enough to show that I am living in India. I am on a tourist visa, but have registered at the FRO and can stay in India until 2014. I don't want to be sent to the US to file this.

After we submit the I-130, what will be our next step?

When should I have the I-864 forms ready to submit? If I know that I cannot meet the requirement, how soon do I need the forms from the joint sponsor? Can I get the forms online now, or do they send them to me?

How will I be notified? Is it in writing to the address on the I-130 form, or by phone? I'm nervous that I may not receive a vital piece of mail at my current address. Many people talk about communicate via email... but I see no place for an email address on any of the forms.

When I submit the I-130 form, what other documents to I have to present at the same time? (ie... the G-325a, Marriage certificate?, photos, etc...) I have read the instructions for the form, but I'm looking for advice from others.. I don't want to forget something. Do wedding photos get submitted with the I-130, or are they for the interview?

When should he get the medical done?

Also... after we get to the US, what will we have to do after arriving (to get a work permit) and how soon would we be able to return to India (and how long can we stay abroad)?

If we move back to India(after a year or so), does my husband loose his work permit? If so, does the whole process start over?
