  1. been having alot of drama in my life the last few weeks so I have been a little distant from the computer

I have some questions... I believe that I have asked them before... so I will apologize in advance if I aggervate anyone..

My questions are.. Now that we have the interview date, we called the Embassy and they said that they would mail my Hubby a package... what is going to be in this package? Has anyone recieved a package from the Embassy yet?

Also.. I am confused.. in the NVC stage I paid an $400 IV fee that I thought was for the visa, but, the embassy told my Hubby that he would have to pay another $400 for the visa at the time of the interview... is this correct?

As far as the VFS is concerned.. I thought I read some where that someone contacted them and they told them what to send them... I am soooo confused on this... what and why would I send them anything? I emailed them, and I got a nasty email back that said to contact the Embassy..

I feel like I am sooo behind.. I havent had the mental strength to deal with anything lately, the only thing that has been acomplished is Hubby has had the medical... Plane tickets and hotel reservations made.. Put in a notice to work for time off.. and that is about it... I still have to organize all of our evidence to take to the interview.

They probably didn't receive your actual package yet, you are CR1 applicant, and they give you information based on K1. Why do you even have to call Embassy for? You do not need to call them.. Just attend the interview with your evidence.

  2. heyyyyyyyyyyy

let me innnnnnnnnn let me innnnnnnnnnnnn

i got my interview date todayyyyy!!!!!!

i have killed NVC people till i get the date :)))) i called almost everydayyyy :))

my interview is on 12 of May at Ankara, Turkey :D you may know that we have no US embassy or consulate in Iran :D

    :D

I don't want to sound ugly but I have Turkish citizenship and you are from Iran and you get priority before me? I got a case complete in December 17 2009, you got a case complete in January 12, 2010 and I got a May 26th, 2010 interview date and you get May 12th, 2010? And I'm a US Veteran. I never understand how these people are scheduling the interviews! I'm happy for you but it makes me sick as a veteran and they make me go through this

  3. When my fiancée last entered the (tourist Visa) US in November she was stopped and questioned by immigration. It was her third visit here in a year. She had previously stayed her for between a week and two months. The immigration agent saw things that gave him the impression she was thinking of getting married on the trip. He saw her engagement ring, pictures from her engagement party when we got engaged ect. By sheer luck the agent let her go through but marked her I-94 with no AOS on the front and on the back only approved her for a 60 day stay and marked it no maos, no cos, eos. He told her not to get married on this trip. She stayed for the 60 days and when she was due to leave she didn’t go home. We thought that she would not be allowed to come back in and we panicked. After three and a half months we decided to just get married at the last minute. That was two weeks ago. We then saw an immigration attorney who said we may not have that big a problem. He said that because she was here over 90 days before we decided to get married it shows that she did not come here with the intent to get married (we did not plan to get married on this visit even though we were engaged) and as long as she does not overstay more than 180 days she is not in jeopardy of loosing her ability to AOS. He also said that the no AOS, COS, ect does not really mean anything because they should not have let her in if they thought she was committing visa fraud. Since they granted her entrance we are OK. Also that they can not tell someone that they can not get married. He said that it was just luck that they let her in. We are planning to file a AOS and all the accompanying paperwork. Does this seem plausible? Can we file for an adjustment of status as she entered the country as my fiancée but merely to visit, overstayed because she panicked that we would not be able to see each other again for a long time, and then just decided to spontaneously get married? I hope this is a realistic plan. Any ideas or suggestions are really welcome. We have been together almost 2 years and have visited each other 7 or 8 times so there is TONS of evidence of a real relationship.

Yes bro, go ahead and file that, DO NOT STAY a part, waiting is so pointless and hurts really bad. Be with her in the country and you can always overcome all the problems together! If i had a chance i would do it

  4. I agree I dislike this whole process as well. Here's some info I found about VJ members going through Ankara for the interview:

Members Name Consulate Received Interview Time Time Between Received and Interview

I found all these members at the Embassy Review Section:

    http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=Turkey&page=1&dfilter=5

The average time between the Consulate getting the packet until the interview is 3 months... But all the current time lines don't look promissing... anywhere from 3 months to 1 year. Let's hope it doesn't take a year.

Many of those people are either K1 or K3. We need to look at CR1 or IR1 people. I know Jenn, Artmin etc etc all K1. It wont take more than 5 months for sure. Dont worry. It takes so long because half of immigrants are from Iran and we are sharing the consulate with them. I wish they would use the Istanbul Embassy instead.

  5. I am waiting for my case to be completed at the NVC. But, afterwards my interview is schedualed to be in Ankara. If I hear anything from them I will let you know.

    Hey there,

So far i found 3 people that are in the same boat like us. One person got a case complete in September 2nd 2009 scheduled for an interview in January 19th 2010. Another individual got a case complete in October 6 2009 and scheduled for an interview February 10th 2010. And razzyrailed (another member here in vj) got a case complete in November 2nd and scheduled for an interview date in March 22nd 2010. I didn't get an April Interview but according to these 3 people it looks like after case complete it takes 4 months to get an interview date! When you compare this to other consulates around the world, Ankara is the worst then Canada is following Ankara. If you know anyone with a case complete and a scheduled interview date let me know so we can try to guess some more! I dislike this process very much and hope it goes smoothly for you.

  6. Anyone waiting for a visa interview scheduling in Ankara Embassy? Our Case is completed in December 17, and we are still waiting for an interview date. According to NVC we are not scheduled for April and not guaranteed for May either. It is really disheartening and don't know what to do. I contacted U.S Congresswoman Slaughters office In Niagara Falls and told that they can't do nothing because they do not have jurisdiction over homeland security. I dont know it is true or not but It is just making me sick each day. Please let me know if you are waiting or has recently got an interview date from Ankara.

PS: Do not ask me to post this in Turkish blog, many people there, case completed over a year ago.

    Thanks!

  7. Hello all!

Finally I got time on the computer to update about our interview!!

    Ok, to start out!!!

We got to the embassy about 7:45 this morning and stood outside with all the people for the interviews.

Once we went through the metal detector and out the door, people were all ready sitting outside waiting for their number to be called. We went inside and got our number in line, then back outside again to wait.

We only waited for about 15 minutes before they called us in to one of the windows inside. There an Arabic woman had all of our papers that had been sent in, Thank God all of the paperwork and documents made it there. I was worried that our packet hadn't made it there in time from the NVC.

Right from the beginning, the woman asked me was I married before, I told her yes. She asked for the Original divorce document from my first marriage. (I am so glad I read on VJ about them wanting it because NO WHERE did the NVC request this form!!) The woman took the document and looked through it all. She handed me back the extra photocopies that I sent in to the NVC and kept the original documents together. I told her that I had finished my taxes for 2009 and she took them and put them with the rest of the forms.

We were told to go back outside and wait. (The waiting area inside was full.) So back out again. This time we waited for about 30 mins then called again to another window where they took my husbands fingerprints and told to go the DHL counter and pay for the return envelope needed.

Then we were told to sit inside. We stayed sitting inside probably the longest time of actual waiting. They kept announcing over the loud speaker that all the people who needed a visitor visa or student visa to come to the window because they were stopping accepting applications for the day.

Finallly we got called back to the original window where we were speaking to an Arabic woman and there was an older Arabic man there with our application.

The questions started, AND he was basically interviewing me!!!

    Where was I from?

    How did we meet?

What website did we meet on?

    How long ago?

    When did I get divorced?

Did I give them my original divorce papers?

    When did we get married?

How many time have I came to Egypt?

When was the first time I came to Egypt?

    Where did I work?

Where will we live when he comes to the USA?

While he was asking these questions he was going through all of our paperwork. Not saying a word to my SO. :innocent:

Once he got to my letter of employment, he was looking at it, almost checking off all the things listed on there, like how long I have worked there, my salary, how was my standing with my employers.

The CO then held up my husband's IV application and asked me if I helped him fill this out. I told him of course and smiled.

He then told me that he was going to talk to my husband and for me not to talk. I told him OK.

He then asked my husband if he understood what the IV application said and my husband pointed at me and said, she did it!!! ( Got to love him! :star: )

The CO then asked him in Arabic if he understood what the application said and my husband couldn't understand him!!! ( I think he was so nervous!)

On the third time he asked my husband laughed and said yes he understood. The CO then handed him the IV form and told him to sign the last page. Quietly I told him in English and my husband laughed and said "I know".

While he was signing his name (it takes him awhile still :innocent:) the CO gave back his original birth certificate, military certificate, marriage contract, my divorce papers

and any original papers I had sent to them.

When my husband gave back his IV application, the CO said to us "Mabrooks! Congratulations and Welcome to the USA! You will get your visa in a couple of weeks!

I said What? Really? The CO said all the papers were in order and all was good. You were prepared. I asked the CO, What you didn't want to see any photos? The CO laughed and said No, because I know you brought all of them with you. Yes, I brought 2 photo albums

We were out of the embassy by 11:45 so it really wasn't that long!!!

I told my husband that this is good because they kept his passport and insha'allah he will get the visa in a couple of weeks, BUT I read that this is common for them to tell people and not be surprised if it does take long than a "couple" of weeks.

SO give me your views and comments!!!

All in all it was a good interview!!!!!

    Congrats!

  8. Not so! Like canadian_wife our interview was also scheduled the last week of the month!

Interview dates are consulate dependent. In our particular case the Montreal consulate is fairy busy. We waited 3 months following NVC completion to our interview date. Some recent filers have waited as long as 4 - 5 months. If your consulate is not a particularly busy one you may get a date for the following month but nothing is guaranteed. Good luck.

You are correct. We have been waiting since December 17. And couldnt get an interview for March either. According to Congress Woman we will have it by April.

  9. Hey, is Ukraine really backed up? Why can't you get an interview for April/May?

My wife is from Ukraine, and stays with my family in Ankara, Turkey, and that's the place where marriage took a place. Ankara Embassy is backlogged with bunch of Iranians because they do not have US EMBASSY in Iran. On November 4,1979, Thousands of Iranian demonstrators filed past the U.S. embassy in Tehran, a smaller group of radical students broke through the embassy. That's the reason we have to wait. I think they should open extra EMBASSY for these people. It is not enough for two countries one embassy. Sometimes they go UAE but still many prefers Turkey since they are more relax in Ankara then UAE. I contacted the Congress Woman but she is so slow too...

I wish i can get the March interview but i'm sure i wont get that either, hopefully April one.

  10. hey MQ! Andrea!! I got approved!!! wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!! :)

i already posted my interview experience. click on here to read (if you like) :)

    My Interview Experience

Congrats!! We got a case complete in same day and i'm still waiting for an interview.. It looks like it is going to be somewhere in August, I called the congress woman but they are not very helpful. I hope you get to see your husband soon! :)

  11. Just my luck! On 21 JAN I was told I will deploy at the end of February. The next day I received an email letting me know that my K1 was approved and NOA2 was in the mail. I talked to USCIS and they told me to call the state department to see if they could hold the K1 for a year until I return to the states. I tried to call the visa agency of the state department and I am unable to talk to a person during the hours they state on the phone.

Has anyone else been able to hold the visa at the state department for a period of time?

Does anyone know a number so I can talk to an actual person? I have not had any luck with a few on the website.

Am I going to have to file again when I return because one year is too long to hold a visa? If so, I think it might be better to go get married on mid-tour and file for a k3.

This is great news, why do you need to hold it? Let the process go ahead and start and finish. Are you going to be deployed for a year? you can do the paperwork from where ever you are without problem.

  12. CR-1

Hey ppl My name is Sid. i got married in jan 29,2008 and file I-130 march 2008 and after that my unlucky journy started. evan i am U.S.Citizen they took over1 year to approved my case at USCIS. on may 2009 nvc send me case no. and after that i finish all step without any mistake. but as it again delay processing time. on jan 14, 2010 the NVC has completed case. but they did not issuse interview date for my wife in feb 2010. so here i am trying to find out are there any ppl like me who face same problem? i have another question that how long will it take now for NVC to give my wife interview date for her visa.

My case has been completed Dec 17, 2009 and still waiting for an interview. They are saying that they can't tell me when it will be, maybe 6 months from now? So i get so upset and called my congress woman. She'll get me an interview date soon :)

  13. Hi All,

It seems that we are getting all the "missing touches" now......Today we got a touch again on the 106th day.......Yes, we also went mad when some one's approval was done in 17 days or even Nov filers were getting approvals. We never called USCIS after our case was filed. On utter frustration wife called USCIS on the 105th day and talked to a lady officer. She was informed that security check is pending and officer will send a reminder mail to the concerned...On the same day we got a tocuh -after 105 th day and today another.....Believe us, we pray for everyone who are in the same situation as only ourselves understands the agony of being apart. Everyone else can only sympatheize ....All human emotions went thru all these days....We will continue to be positive and will pray for all........

    Luv & Prayers

    AMY & ABY

I smell NOA2 there. First touch was approval second touch was sent to NVC :-)

  14. Sorry. Even if you were able to get an interview date soon you might still have to wait a while after the interview because Ankara seems to be doling out AP a lot more lately.

My wife is from Ukraine and only 19 years old and they are not usually checked by but who never know. AP's usually happens to males than females.

  15. Hi All,

Yesterday i called NVC and operater gave me the interview date. Also after couple of hours i received the appointment letter via email.
