  1. I have been a Denver Broncos fan since about 1964 so my most memorable even was them winning the Super Bowl in 1997 and then doing it again in 1998. I was really worried they would become the first team in history to go 0-5 in Super Bowl appearances.

Bronco fans can tell you all about the early lean year, the middle lean years and the late lean years. Thank God for Elway and Shanahan!

Sorry Jas, but your Broncos won't make the playoffs this year either. That win on Thanksgiving Day was a fluke. The team from the Braille Institute of San Diego can give a run for their money!

  2. I presume most of us here are into sports, either as a player participant or as a fanatico. And as such, there should be that one particular moment or event that gave us the thrill of all thrills and will forever be etched in our memory.

For example, our buddy from East Texas and his wife would probably never forget that day when the missus caught her first bass. Or, perhaps that day when the Stanford Cardinal roughed up the once mighty USC Trojans, a day that my friend will always remember as he was in the bleachers at the L.A. Coliseum, so was his son who plays the saxophone with the band from Palo Alto.

Mine happened 25 years ago, at Bonita Golf Club outside San Diego. With a 7-iron in my hands, I made a hole-in-one at the 160-yard 9th hole. Wow, what a memorable sensation that was! As if I just kissed my first date when I was fifteen. That was my first ace, to be followed by another one 24 years later at Eagle Glen GC in Corona, Calif.

    How about you?

Señor Ilocano, I don’t want to undermine your golf ability but have you heard the saying that goes “man blames fate for other accidents, but feel personally responsible when he makes a hole-in-one”?

  3. With apologies to my good friend, Kathryn41 of the Mod Squad, let's play the geography chain game. This is a parody to the one being played at the main Off Topic section and the only difference is that we will be using names of Philippine towns or cities.

I'll start by naming a Philippine town and the next poster will continue the chain with a town that starts with the last letter of the last posted town. Here we go:

    Malita, Davao del Sur

    Alicia, Isabela

  4. Hope everyone had a great day! Abbie, uh, hot dogs for breakfast??!!!

what's wrong with hotdogs for breakfast?

NVC received our case on Sept. 29th and we got our NVC number today. However, the AVR says that it takes 6 to 8 weeks for me (beneficiary) to get a letter from NVC. Shucks!

hi senora bonita. congratulations. we got our case number today too but it's in US it's sept 30th :)

    Congratulations to everybody!

  5. Ilocano Folklore

According to one Ilocano origin myth, a giant named Aran built the sky and hung the sun, moon, and stars in it. Under their light, Aran's companion, the giant Angalo, could see the land, which he then molded into mountains and valleys. The giants found the world they had created windswept and desolate. Angalo spat on the earth, and from his spit emerged the first man and woman. He placed them in a bamboo tube that he tossed into the sea. The bamboo washed up on the shore of the Ilocos region, and from this couple came the Ilocano people.

  6. I saw El Cordobes fight in TJ about 43 years ago!~

What were you doing in Tijuana, bud? I imagine you were checking the bars along Avenida de la Revolución, no?

If you got copies of the filed income tax returns, there's no need for the transcripts. good luck!

    Thanks el cordobes

    De nada mjsg 2468.

  7. hehe....I am planning to go back but has anyone looked at the airfare lately!!!! It has gone through the roof I even tried looking out a couple of months and it is more expensive!!!

Christmas won't be a bad time to visit although fares would be higher a bit. But it should be heartwarming to see all the happy faces as they see good old Santa from America with all those gifts to be given! :star:
