  1. Hello all,

I'm not sure if I am posting this in the write location it is an AOS question. My question is this my once fiancee now wife, is here on a K-1 Visa the I-94 expires the second week of June so at what point in the AOS process is she not required to leave the country? I am under the impression that with 3 months to get married once she is married is there an extension since the AOS process can take some time?

*Would we need the AOS NOA1 that give her an extension?

*If the AOS process takes longer than the second week of June (expired I-94) is she at that point required to leave the country again upon receipt of a green card?

    Thanks for the information

  2. Hello all,

I have attempted to search throughout the forum for language barriers regarding the AOS interview. My Colombian fiancee...I mean wife and I have gone through most of the K1 process coming up on the final stretch now...we married the end of March and will be doing going through the AOS process shortly but I have a couple of questions for you all and I hope you can help me with.

    1) My wife and I will be going to Social Security offices to see if we can get one started for her followed by filling out the forms for the AOS at a later date...I know they need her birth certificates translated from Spanish to English but I'm fluent can I "certify" that they are true and accurate to the best of my knowledge or does it have to be some notary that does this or issuing agency which I believe maybe a major problem if this is true. (more time)

    2) When the AOS interview does come up is it a requirement that my wife speaks or understand english? Yes I know Welcome to America now speak English but during this entire K1 process not one document said my fiancee at the time or wife must speak a word of english...even though we are working on that now thanks to Rosetta Stone. And I know when you go to another country like Italia its highly recommended to speak the language or try to be as fluent as possible if you plan on residing there for some time.

Thank you so much for your help

    Have a wonderful day!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Hello all,

I already know the answer to this but to make my fiancee feel a little more at easy she would like me to ask: "If there is an English speaking requirment for K1 approvals?"

I tell her on no document that her and I filled out does it say anything about having to know the English language or that it is a must to be approved/submit applications.

Also not everyone in the world speaks the English language and visas are given all the time so that would be the same case here. When she is here I will assist her in learning the language of course.

So I would like your assistance in telling her since her interview is next month Feb 2010...Would the Colombian Embassy deny her, her visa because she only knows a few English words and doesnt understand it? But it is sooooooooooo sexy and adorable hearing her speak it...like I'm sure she thinks the same when she hears me speaking Spanish.

    Thank you

  4. I thank you all for your assistance and I do believe I have found a way thanks to Christeen and Vanessa&Tony

    The new idea is this:

    1) Purchase a one way ticket to Colombia from orbitz.com

    2) Purchase both of our tickets on the return from COlombia to Washington,DC through COPA Airlines and purchase Washington DC to VA tickets through orbitz.com all of this done ahead of time of course...If all else fails can rent a vehicle for our return trip.

    Thanks again everyone.

  5. Ok I have a question,

My fiancee and I are waiting on her visa interview in Colombia. She has never flown on a plane and I do not want her to go through the major headaches she would have to deal with especially since she doesnt speak any english. My idea is this:

I wanted to know if I would be able to purchase tickets for us both from orbitz.com roundtrip from VA to Colombia and Colombia to VA. I know this is confusing but check this out.

    1) Purchase roundtrip ticket from orbitz.com

    2) GO to Colombia to pick her up and have an empty seat on the plane all to myself. (VA to COlombia)

    3) On our way back her ticket was already purchased so we will be next to each other the whole flight back to the US with K1 in hand (COlombia to VA)

I am trying to do this because if I was to give her the money to purchase a one way ticket there is no guarantee we will be seating next to each other or if a opening is even available (US based stops)

    THank you

  6. Good evening everyone,

I have a question regarding the I-134 and was not able to find it elsewhere on this site, or Google...but is there as minimum needed in the savings/checkings account? Or anyone have experience with this I'm sure not everyone has 5K or more in their accounts but who knows.

    Thank you for your assistance

The I-134 requirements take into account more than just your current checking account balance. You must also submit your tax return information, pay stubs and letter from employer...to verify that you have income coming in on a regular basis. There is no minimum needed, unless you're planning on using your checking/savings to satisfy the financial requirements for sponsorship.

I agree. Your bank/checking statements simply verifies your incoming income. Direct Deposit is a good idea for additional, automatic documentation on the statement--same amount seen deposited every month.

Wow thank you all for the quick response and I kind of figured that was the case but just covering all basics. I knew A-D on the I-134 is pointing out any of the 4 would satisfy as long as it equal to or over 125% over poverty guidelines.

    Thanks again
