  1. See, these are things we don't have a clue about.

When we got married our marriage cert has my maiden name because they said that I get my name changed when I apply for my SS#. But I can't apply for a SS# without and EAD... Right?

I applied for my AOS with my maiden name because my only ID is my passport and I thought that that was the name they wanted to see on the paperwork.

So if I go to get my SS# with my EAD in my maiden name, they won't change it there?

I plan to get my SS# first before getting a drivers liscence, but I do want to take his last name.... What should I do then?

Thank you all for your replies.

  2. So last monday I recieved an email from USCIS saying my EAD has been approved and my card is being made.

I entered the US as a tourist and got married here and then applied for AOS. My tourist visa has been expired for a few months though... My story is long and complicated, please don't think I'm trying to cut corners and get ahead of everyone. We are trying to do this correctly.

    Anyway...

    My question is:

The only valid thing I would have is my passport and the EAD card. Can I apply for a SS#? I need to work asap to help with bills! And here in Las Vegas, working is so regulated! They require 3 diferent goverment issued cards to even get considered at any hotel or restaurant.

Also... Can I change my name now to my married name? How?

I looked at the guides but I'm still not sure I will have the proper documentation to apply for a SS#

Any help will be greatly apretiated!

    Thanks

  3. We got a letter from them saying the following:

In order to process your application further, the petitioner/sponsor on Form I-864, Affidavit of Support must submit all Federal income tax documentation submitted to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for the most recent tax year. *then writen with a red pen* 2008 FORM 1040

Since my husband never got a tax return because he aparently owed taxes so they (IRS) took the tax return, we never went back for his papers, I didn't know exactly what papers are what so I had submited the notice IRS sent back about taking his tax return to pay for owed taxes.

Yesterday after recieving this letter we called the tax place and the said they had the papers there, we went to get them and now we know what the 1040 form is....

Please tell me if this is right:

I am sending the pink notice they sent as instructed and a copy of the Form 1040. Will this be enough? Or do I have to send the W 2s also?

It says on the intructions of the I-864 that we don't have to send the W 2s if submitting the transcript.... What is the transcript?

I was thinking that if it was writen in RED ink that they want the 2008 FORM 1040, then that's all I have to submit. Right? The thing is that we can't find any other documents....

    HELP please!

    Thanks
