  1. Hello,

I am born in the US but my mother is not a US citizen, she is visiting US now and is living with me now but she is planning on going back home in a month.

She want to apply for the green card but we do not know if we should apply from US while she is here to do the adjustment of status or it is better to do it from home(Syria) since she will be leaving US in a month.

If she applies from here and then leave US a month after applying what can happen.

    Please advise.

Thanks a lot for all of your help.

  2. Hello,

I have a conditional GC that will expire in 6 weeks( I got it in April 14th of 2010 ) after I was married to US citizen.

My marriage took place outside US and we got married on 2/15/2009.

I was told that three years after you get married you can apply to become a US citizen so my question is can I g ahead and apply for naturalization or I still have to apply for removal of conditions and then apply for naturalization couple months later.

My green card issue date is 4/14/2010

    My marriage date is 2/15/2009

    Thanks for your help

  4. My only question is how are you going to bring a child into the world to feed and take care of if neither of you are working and are trying to get yourselves on food stamps and wic?

sorry but I do not think that you will care for my child more than me and I will start working in the coming July and my wife is pregnant so she will not work..

  5. hello everybody..

I am an OCD man and I wanna make sure about an important thing, I am married to a US citizen who is pregnant'''Thanks GOD'''' and we are not working so we are depending on our savings and I am applying for AOS some of my friends told me to apply for the food stamps and the WIC but I am afraid that those may affect my AOS application and I might be considered a public charge,, so what do you think????????????

and do you know how much do they give us if we applied for those things(I am living with my wife who is pregnant and we do not have kids yet)

thanks a lot and wish me luck

  6. thanks Guys but as i understood if she did not pay for her medical bill then she can not get the loans but I can am I right and then the only problem will be that I will have to buy the house on my own and that s not a problem unless you think that since we are married the bill will be a debt on both of us so plz correct me if I am wrong and thanks so much for your help

You marry debt in the US. Any debt you incur in your name becomes hers and vice versa. Talk to the hospital, they should have someone who can help you set up payment arrangements, as well as possibly wave a large portion of it (I had a hospital bill for $79k+ and they wrote off all but $15k of it and agreed to my $25 a month payments). Most places will work with you if you don't let it lapse too long and have it sent off to collections--collections can be a nightmare, don't let it go that far!

I was told that if she applied to the medicare then they will cover this bill also cuz they cover the bills that happened three months before the application of the medical assistance if she can prove that she was in need also...

do u think that the application to medical assistance will affect my application to get the green card or will they affect my sponsor

    thanks a lot

  7. so do you think that if she apply for medicare or medicaid that will not affect neither me nor the sponsor since as you know we need that cuz she is not working

and what do you think I have to pay the office that will help me filing the application including the fees and what I have to pay for the civil surgeon

    thanks in advance

She is a US Citizen, she is entitled to claim federal assistance like medicaid. So can your baby, as long as he/she qualifies to be a US Citizen. It will not affect you (except YOU cannot get federal assistance) and nor will it affect your sponsor, who is sponsoring you not your wife.

You shouldn't pay anything for help filing the AOS unless you cannot do it yourself and there is no one who can help you, like a friend or your wife. Considering you cannot afford to pay her medical bills at the moment, paying someone $1000 just to write on a couple of forms is crazy. You can find the guides at the top of this page, where it says guides (under the .com part of visajourney.com)

You need to ring the civil surgeons in your area (do a google search for 'civil surgeon' and your town name or check the USCIS website. Different ones will charge different amounts.

thank you so much for your help

so can you give me a rough idea about the fees to the immigration office for AOS and the EAD and every other thing that I have t pay to the US government

by the way I found out on the internet that the medical assistance will pay for the bills that I had to pay for if the date of that bill is nt more than 3 months before that start date of the medical assistance

so I will go get my wife that medical assistance since you told me that it will not affect me or my sponsor.....

    thanks in advance

Plz if you have any advice I will really appreciate it

  8. It may hurt your spouse's credit score if the bill doesn't get paid by some agency or someone doesn't pay.

thanks so much for your response.

if this hurts my wife's credit score then what are the consequences in the future

It will be harder for you to get credit of any kind-for example a personal or car loan, a credit card, or a mortgage. It may also be harder for you to find an apartment-many places do credit checks when you apply for a lease. Even utility and phone companies check your credit before they will approve you.

This could very well come back to bite you in the future. Starting out your life together with a large amount of debt is not ideal. WORK with the people you owe money to. It is much easier in the long run to do this. It's better to make small payments than none at all-and it may reduce the amount you will end up owing in interest or finance charges.

Think about the things you may want to do in the future, such as buying a house.

thanks Guys but as i understood if she did not pay for her medical bill then she can not get the loans but I can am I right and then the only problem will be that I will have to buy the house on my own and that s not a problem unless you think that since we are married the bill will be a debt on both of us so plz correct me if I am wrong and thanks so much for your help

  9. It won't effect your immigration.

It may hurt your spouse's credit score if the bill doesn't get paid by some agency or someone doesn't pay.

Read the guides here on VJ to learn the process. Was the price quoted inclusive of the fees (AOS $1010) or not? If you and your spouse are not comfortable filling out forms then it may be wise to hire someone.

thanks so much for your response.

if this hurts my wife's credit score then what are the consequences in the future and plz forgive my stupidness since I am new to USA and I do not know a lot about the system here and can you plz tell me where i can find the guid that you told me about

she said that it includes every thing except the civil surgeon visit..so what do you think

thanks a lot :star::thumbs:

Depends how much she uses credit. If she can live without credit, it will affect her little. Many employers are checking credit scores now and it could affect job offers, but that is usually also for pretty low level jobs or cash handling jobs where they are concerned a low credit score = potential theft.

Credit scores can be troubling if you paly the credit game and need credit to live. If you live within your means, they are pretty meaningless. I haven't checked my credit score in years and can't imagine a need to, have no idea what it is, don't care. No one asks when I pay cash or use a debit card. But other people prefer to live on money they haven't earned yet.

Thank you so much for your very important information and you are really a star member    ..

so do you think that if she apply for medicare or medicaid that will not affect neither me nor the sponsor since as you know we need that cuz she is not working

  11. Get a co-sponsor to sign for you. the medical bills won't be considered. Have her apply for medicade as soon as possible....especially if she is not working. You still need a co-sponsor in order to file.

    thank you Rings..

so neither us nor our sponsor will pay the bills and we will not get any bad results from that action and do u think that if she apply for the medicaid I will not get any delays regarding my gren card application

thanks a gain and have a great days

and can you plz guys help me with the other Q regarding the fees and the one who can help me filling the paper work

    thanks in advance

  12. Hello Guys

I am married to a US citizen and now we are expecting our first baby but the problem is that neither me nor my wife is working now and I will apply for the AOS in a few days but my wife has a severe pain that forced us to go to the ER but my wife is uninsured so they told me that they will send the Bill to the house so my question is IF I DID NOT PAY THE BILL WILL THAT AFFECT MY GREEN CARD APPLICATION AND IF MY WIFE APPLIED FOR MEDICARE OR ANY KIND OF PUBLIC ASSISTANCE WILL I HAVE A PROBLEM IN MY APPLICATION.???????????/

AND MY LAST QUESTION IS: IS IT OK IF I USED THE HELP OF PARALEGAL OFFICE WITH THE APPLICATION OR IT IS BETTER TO GO TO A LAWYER AND I WENT TO ONE OF THOSE OFFICES AND THE OWNER TOLD ME THAT EVERY THING FROM A TO Z WILL COST ME 2200$ AND I HAVE TO PAY FOR MY OWN CIVIL SURGEON SO DO YOU THINK THAT THIS IS A FAIR PRICE OR WHAT??????????

THANKS IN ADVANCE AND I WISH YOU BEST OF LUCK

  13. thanks so much guys

    I really appreciate it.

the whole idea is that i will go to live in the states in a few days and I wanna find the best place to live in during the whole process and u know i need to find a place that is cheap safe and easy to apply from and finally I decided to go to Michigan do u think that I made the right choice

    thanks again

  14. Hey Guys,

I wanna ask u a simple question plz

I will apply for adjustment of status and I do not if there is any difference in the speed of the process some one told me that it is a federal issue and there is no difference among the states others told me that it s the fastest in Pennsylvania.

plz if there is no differnce tell me and if there is difference tell me which state is better among:NY,MI,Chicago,Pennsilvania

    thanks in advance

  15. Thanks again and I am sorry if I am nagging too much but I am really confused and frustrated.. :crying: :crying: :crying:

Plz I did not understand the(If your wife, the USC, is coming with you, in October or March, you can eventually be granted a green card and work authorisation on the basis of having a US spouse, but that only works (AOS or visa) if your wife is with you. If she is planning on coming with, you have just as much opportunity to do it the right, leqal way than to do it illegally, and way less risk. So do it the right way!))

can u explain it to me in a simple way cuz my wife is coming with me in October...
