  1. First of all I would like to thank this forum and the wonderful people that answered all my questions.

My wife had her interview today at 11.00. We were there at 10.30 along with our daughter. We were called at 11.30 and our daughter was getting restless. Wife had to keep feeding her jelly beans to keep her under control. The officer was a middle aged guy , very polite and a good sense of humor. When he called us in he apologized for being late and said not everyone's case is as straight forward as yours with a wink. He had a file of all the documents I had sent for I-485. He first asked us to raise our right hand before and swear that we tell the truth. He asked for our drivers licenses and citizenship proofs. My wife's drivers license had an old address. He asked why are living separate. My wife immediately said she did not update the records and started digging the folder which had tons of bills with her name and current address on it. My daughter became busy in playing with stationery on the table while I was making ready for all the documents he may ask. He asked for our copies of daughter's birth certificate, auto insurance policy, credit cards and joint account bank statements. He said that was more than enough though I always thought I was under prepared. He took away the original EAD and Advanced parole. He stamped my wife's passport with permanent resident stamp and said you are free to travel. After 2 yrs and 9 months you are eligible to apply for US citizenship he said and again apologized for the delay.

    Woohoo!

    Good luck to everyone !

  2. I'm a USC and my wife has her GC interview scheduled on Feb 8th.

My wife is planning on a 12-14 month trip abroad after she gets her green card in hand since its been like 5 years since she moved to the States.

    1. Can she apply for a reentry permit right away after the interview assuming they grant her LPR status?

    2. She did her Biometrics 3 months ago. Does she have to get it done again for re-entry permit ?

    3. How long does it take to get the re-entry permit ? Can you collect the re-entry permit abroad ?

    Thanks

  3. quote]

    Try 84 for I-485

    85 for I-131

    86 for I-130

    87 for I-765

Actual receipt number on back of the check ends with 83

87 ==>I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION

    88 ==> I-131

84 ===> Says On November 2, 2009, your fingerprint fee was accepted and we have mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. Your case is being processed at our NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER location

Now for I'm not sure why NBC would process the case as I-130 is already approved and my spouse is just doing adjustment of status.

Maybe I'm seeing someone else's case :innocent:

  4. Desi4ever, some have found that the number on the back of their check is a few digits off their NOA number. Like check number ends in 86, the NOA is 88 or 89.

Thanks. My MSC number ends with 83 and I get nothing.

    When I tried 84

    I get this

  5. We got confused too when we prepared for the I-129F until I read the recent immigration news on visajourney.

    http://www.visajourney.com/news/2009/08/22...is-g-325a-form/

We used the new version of the G-325A then print it 4 times. So 4 copies for the petitioner and other 4 copies for the beneficiary. Hope this enlighten u. :)

    4 copies for Petitioner ? Why ?

The G-325A and G-325 clearly asks for applicant details and signature.

So why would you want to put the USC's 5 yr employment history and residence ?

The applicant would be the non USC spouse filing an adjustment of status. 4 copies of applicant's G325A should suffice in my opinion.

  6. My wife's I-30 has been approved with priority date July 14,2005. I had filed this when I was still a permanent resident.

I'm going to file I-485 for my wife as soon as I become a US citizen ( this Oct 21 )

My wife entered US on a B2 visa and is currently working on H1-B but does not have a H1-B stamp yet on her passport but she just has the H1-B approval with I-94.

    1. When I filed her I-130 as a spouse of permanent resident we wanted consular processing as she was supposed to go back after B2 I-94 expired. But she ended up getting a H1-B and never left the country. She was out-of-status when she had a baby from Nov 07 - Mar 09. She has been working since Mar 09 till present. but now we want to do an adjustment of status since she is already here in the US. I don't know what exactly we filled in her I-130 application about 5 year ago.Now her I-130 is already approved. Do I need to do anything extra to ensure that her application does not processed in the consulate abroad but have it done here ?

    2. Do I need certified copies of my spouse's birth certificate and our marriage certificate ? My spouse does not have the original birth certificate in order to get a certified copy.

    3. My wife's passport has expired and she got a new one this week . Should I send in copies of both new and old passports since old passport has her B2 visa stamp ?

I really appreciate your help. Cannot afford a lawyer.

  7. Dear all,

This is my first post on VJ. My apologies if this topic has already been dealt with.

Both me and my wife are citizens of India.

I'm a LPR ( green card holder employment based ) since Oct 2004 and I got married after I got my green card. My wife had a US visitor visa ( B2 ) before we married and entered USA on B2 in April 2005.

I applied for her I-130 in July 2005.

She then got her H1-B approved in Oct 2005. She has not left the country ever since. She does not have a H1-B stamp yet on her passport.

Her I-94 is valid till October 2011.

She was not working between November 2007 and Mar 2009 as she had to take care of our child. She resumed working from March 2009. Yes , she was out of status between Nov 2007 and Mar 2009.

Her I-130 was approved in Jan 2009 approval notice with a priority date of July 14,2005.

I have applied for my naturalization(n-400 ) and my interview is scheduled on Sep 29, 2009. Assuming everything goes well ,I pass the interview and take the oath, what are the next steps to get my wife her green card ?

I know that I need to upgrade the I-130 by calling USCIS and providing them my proof of citizenship.

    1. When can I file for I-485 ?

    2. We live in Houston, TX. Do we look at the TSC center to get the processing times info for I-485 or ?

    3. When does she get her EAD ?

    4. For my wife's green card interview , does her out-of-status factory affect her green card application ?

    Thanks
