  1. hello there!

firstly i love this site. our visa process was very quick and smooth, but i know it would have been different had it not been for the wealth of information i found here. absolutely brilliant. thanks to the countless people whose posts guided me through our process.

soooooo we are preparing to move very soon to America...visa has been approved and we are ready to do some serious planning.

we are in the middle of getting quotes from moving companies here in Spain....we dont have a lot, but it is our whole house we are more or less moving, so we need to have it done professionally. just wondering if anyone has had experience doing this and can recommend a good moving company based in Spain?

    thanks in advance!

  2. hi there!

we are also starting the process tomorrow...probably see you down the embassy! hehehehe. we have spent the last week getting all our documents together, so i am hoping it will run smoothly.

so far i have not heard from anyone that has done it recently, although older posts show that its not too bad timewise in Madrid, but of course we will see how it goes.

when are you hoping to move to America? where are you planning on settling?

best of luck and hope to hear from you...its nice to be able to compare notes with someone....

    xx

  3. hello!

great to hear back from you. DCF means that you file directly at the embassy, which you can only do if you have been a resident for the last 6 months in the country you file in...so we have been in Madrid together for over 4 years...so no problem there! we file on wednesday...supposedly it is a lot quicker this way because its all done here i believe, but i am still nervous.

where are you from in Spain? where are you living in America? i am from San Francisco, so that is where we will be moving when we get through all this. i can't wait....i have been living abroad for over 10 years (was in London before Madrid) and with a baby now....i just crave being home near my family. fingers crossed it will happen soon!

good luck sending your forms off tomorrow and i hope to hear from you soon! xx

  4. hello!

finally i meet someone! i am american, and my husband is Spanish. we live in Madrid and are just starting the process to get him his visa so we can move back to America. so i think our situations are slightly different as it sounds like you are already in America, no? we will be doing DCF.

would love to hear more about how its all going. i am feeling slightly nervous about it as these things always do, but am confident we should be able to get it sorted.

good luck and hope to hear from you soon.

    xx

  5. thanks for the replies everyone!

i was really starting to panic about the wording on this domicile issue...but now i understand. just need to prove our intention to reside permanently in the States, and i believe we have quite a lot of evidence to prove that. also, we will definitely be using a co-sponsor....i am a stay at home mom these days, but probably not for long once we get back to America!

on a different note, i have been out of the country for over 10 years....does that make any difference with what evidence i need to supply, or with how my case will be handled?

    thanks again! xx

  6. hi there! first time using this, so apologies if i touch upon something that has been dealt with before....i have been madly searching all the threads today!

can someone tell me to what extent you have to prove your US domicile for the affidavit of support? seems a bit contradictory to prove you live abroad for DCF, but at the same time prove you live in the States and are making money. i am a little confused.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

    thanks xx
