  1. MFluer... Lucky you, you can see your status online!!

Ok, I just tried our numbers again and they still don't work. Does your start with MSC? Maybe I'm putting it in wrong?

Xaenyth, I am thinking the same... my case starts with MSC as well. No luck as yet... MFluer, what about yours?? Well, my Biometrics should be on the way as we pretty much are in hand in hand  I just wish I could see what is happening online just so I don't miss the bio-metrics!!

Welcome everyone :) ... and good luck to all of us!! Yay Oct filers :)

Hi Simbafuzz and Xaenyth, I entered the case number which starts with MSC, no dashes... all I did was go to the USCIS website... and then on the left side there's an option "After I file" and under that, "Check case status" and that's where I got the page to enter the letters and numbers...... so weird it's not working for u guys.... :/ Try again and good luck!

I'm thinking my biometrics letter will arrive either Monday or Tuesday of next week.... :)

  2. Hello all,

I already posted on the September board, but since I filed at the end of September, I am technically an October filer so I decided to post here again.

We just sent my AOS package (I-130 , I-485 w/ the works, I-765, I-131) on 9/29 and it was delivered yesterday.

Obviously, no NOA yet. Let the waiting commence wacko.gif

I have checked my bank account about 7000 times since I woke up. I know they probably won't cash the check until at least Monday, but checking my account makes me feel like I'm somehow speeding up the process.

Who would have thought that I'd be so anxious to have my money taken ?

I got my package sent out and delivered at the same time as you! My checks have not been cashed either.... I'm all biting my nails with anxiety LOL... good luck to u!!

  3. Hi guys,

I have a little situation which leads to this question, i don't know if it's silly but i just want some advice on it... Im waiting for some IRS paperwork from my husband so we can send out the AOS forms and I was informed on the website it wouldn't take long to process it, and after that period of time was over we called the IRS and apparently it takes 2 extra weeks to process that darn thing, but i had already printed out the forms and everything and dated them 2 weeks back.... so when I get that paperwork in the mail and send the forms out, should I print them again with a new date or the date from 2 weeks ago shouldn't be a problem.......? :T

    Thanks for the help! :)

  4. I was observing on those four pages for the G325a that on the bottom left hand corner there are different numbers and abbreviations on each page... so I'm assuming that these 4 pages go to different departments and/or are used for different purposed within the USCIS... that's the only thing different that I saw... that's what really made me think that I had to sign each one of them separately and send them all together...... hope this helps.

  5. You worked for 3 years without proper documentation? Please say it isn't so :o

Unfortunately yes Len... I'm one of those cases where a kid comes with their parents to the US and wants to call it home but can't... hopefully it's all about to change for me :)

Let me see if i got this corerctly:

    1. You came here without a visa when you were a kid

    2. Once you became 18 you did not go back to Brasil and began accruing illegal presence.

    3. you married a USC and are trying to adjust status.

If all the 3 above are correct; you are in for hell. You cannot adjust status because you have no status. Contact an immigration attorney asap.

Thanks for the concern Len... but i'm on the right track according to the immigration attorney... I just have to file everything at once... and hope for the best.... I've seen a lot of illegal immigrants obtain residency and they went through the same thing as me... and they now have their GC's... so I'll be ok :)

  6. Hi there!! I was hoping someone could give me some advice on my case. I know you're not supposed to work when people are applying with all kinds of visa, but I've been self-employed as an S-Corp. since 2006 and I've stopped providing my services because I had to move to another city when I got married. Would I still be able to work or do I have to wait for a work permit? My services have been Corp-to-Corp.

I don't want to work if I can't so if anyone knows... please help!

    Thanks for the help!! :)

  7. On the I-864 Instruction it says

"Although USCIS does not charge a fee for this form, the Department of State does charge a fee of $70 when the Affidavit of Support is reviewed domestically."

    1. So the check will be payable to U.S. Department of State" .... is that correct?

    2. We are submitting (1) I-864 from the principal petitioner/sponsor ; (1) I-864 and (1) I864A from joint sponsor. Is the Affidavit of Support fee counted per intending immigrant or per number of I-864 forms submitted? So will that be one or two $70 fees?

No. Read carefully. The "Department of State" charges a $70 fee. You are submitting it to the USCIS which is NOT the Department of State. This form is used for many types of visas. For AOS there is no fee for the I-864

YES! At least that answers it for me.... $70 more in the bank!! :) Thanks!!

  8. On the I-864 Instruction it says

"Although USCIS does not charge a fee for this form, the Department of State does charge a fee of $70 when the Affidavit of Support is reviewed domestically."

    1. So the check will be payable to U.S. Department of State" .... is that correct? :blush:I WAS GONNA CREATE A TOPIC WITH THAT SAME QUESTION! I'M TRYING TO FIND THAT OUT ALSO...

    2. We are submitting (1) I-864 from the principal petitioner/sponsor ; (1) I-864 and (1) I864A from joint sponsor. Is the Affidavit of Support fee counted per intending immigrant or per number of I-864 forms submitted? So will that be one or two $70 fees? I BELIEVE THE USCIS WEBSITE SAYS THAT IT'S $70 FOR THE I-864 AND $0.00 FOR THE I-864A... CHECK IT OUT JUST TO MAKE SURE... :) GOOD LUCK!

  9. Marriage certificate always bear your maiden name and you don't alter anything on the marriage certificate. When people say change your name, basically means adding your husband's last name to your official documents such as SSC, Driver's License, bank stuff etc. To do that, you need to produce your marriage certificate to prove that you are married to the person with the last name that you are trying to change.

I think the "people" misunderstood when you said you want to change your name. As far as I know you can change your FIRST name when you apply for naturalization.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers.

YES!!!! HAHAHA I FINALLY GOT IT!! Maybe it was really just a misuse of words that got me all confused! Good thing I'm still filling out the forms.... hopefully will send them out next week if I don't get confused on anything else :P

Thanks everyone for the help!! :) :) :)

  10. You do not have to change the name on the certificate. It will ALWAYS have your maiden name on your marriage certificate. This is the proof of your name change ( your marriage certificate ) . All you send as the proof is the marriage certificate that is your document allowing you to change your name. You do not have to change the certificate as they will nto do this.

That's the thing though... My name on the certificate did not change at all. I don't have my husband's last name on it. I kept mine. :( There was no name change... that's what i'm trying to explain... this sux!
