  1. Wow, I visited the forum today after a while and, and have been reading good news, Happy For u Mumtazg and Omar.

USmomo, I understand your problem, well, when I had applied for my father’s immigration, I had written down in the forms that he had stayed in Germany, (this was in 1975), and so they asked for his Police certificate from Germany. WE didn’t know where to get that from, this was almost 35 years ago, n father did not even have that passport now which contained his visa for Germany, I still sent my father to get the police certificate form German consulate in Karachi, and they said that they could not do anything and we had to contact BONN, in Germany for the certificate. Any how I wrote a letter to NVC and explained to them, that we tried our best, to obtain the certificate, but were not able to because my father does not have the passport, that contains the visa.

Any how, NVC approved the case and sent it over to Islamabad consulate. My dad got his interview data after a 1 n half month. When they went for the interview, the guy asked him, if he was able to get the German certificate, and my dad told him that he couldn’t, and he had tried a lot.

They put him on AP, which is a must for all males coming from Pakistan. His got his visa after 3 weeks.

My advice would be to send a letter to NVC, Exaggerating and telling them that you tried your best and have been waiting to get it. But the consulate has been very uncooperative. May be NVC will forward your case to Islamabad, in the mean time you might get your Russian certificate, and then can present it at the time e of the interview? Point is, even if you don’t get it, it is something not in your hands. You can tell that to the consular.

    Good Luck

  2. Well guys, my parents are here, they got here friday night, and its been crazy exiting since then. They had no problem wats so ever in the immigration at port, so i guess they give all the hard time only wen you are in your country.

Kami: good to know u got yur passport, start looking for tickets now:)

Omar, even if it doenst say that you anything about yur emplyment on yur social security, you would still have to wait, i was also on a F 1 visa and went through the whole process. but i didnt leave the country though. if yu've already been here then you it wont be too hard for you to find yur way around, just find a cash job to kill time. it shouldnt take more 1-2 months for you to get yur ead any ways.

i am not sure, but i have seen a trend that AP for people with K1 visa's are taking a little longer than CR1. may be i am wrong. but just going through the time lines of different people i have been noticing this trend. Well, it will be over soon. InshaAllah, and belive me, one you get here, you wont even remeber it.

  3. Well,, My parents got the visa in hand today, they are leaving tomorow morning InshaAllah for chicago. Everyything came in kind of on a short notice, but i was expecting it like that and telling my parents to be ready. I havnt seen them in almost 5 years, so its been a long time now. They are finally coming to their kids where they belong. Any how, i will InshaAllah pick them up tomorow, and update on how things went.

Feisal, Omar, Marm, Naz&Omi, Hopeful786 and everybody else, i am praying for you all, InshaAllah it will be over soon, But realy once more, if you guys get a chance read Surat Muzzammil, like i had said in my previous post, it works. it has worked for me on 2 different occasions, like a miracle. :)

  4. what is a que?

A queue is a like a waiting line, when used by DOS people, it means that your visa is approved, and you are in line waiting for it to be printed.

InshaAllah I hope we hear good news this week for all those of us waiting.

zee12: Keep hanging in there, I know it is easier said than done, but InshaAllah it won't be longer!

Omark: DOS does drag and push and shove you around a lot, they say things that sometimes are just general things and it is like they are insensitive to our inquiries. I know that there is only so much information they can give, but sometimes it makes you want to scream when they just monotonously say "its pending, they are working on it, good bye."

As for us, I got a response from a senatorial inquiry I made last week, and DOS responded saying that the London Consulate has completed the Administrative Review for my fiance, but now they have sent his case for mandatory Administrative Processing. I don't know what this means...whether it will be another 4 month wait or a few days wait, who knows...like we all know: it is never over until you get here. :(

MARM, i dont think it means their will be another AP for your fiance. After they told my parents to submit their passports, i had been emailing the conulate to check the status, and i got a response back from them telling me that they have recieved the passports, and even though the vsa is issued, the consular officer does 1 final review before he sends in the final OK for the visa to printed. so i wouldnt worry too much, InshaAllah, it will be over, you can still call DOS yurself and talk to the good operators to get the update. Pray, only prayers seem to help at this point and nothing else.

Omar, i completely get yur frustration, but yur almost there, It will pay off once you get here. :)

  5. i just got a phone call from the ISL embassy asking to submit the passport at AMEX cuz my husband's visa is ready....Alhamdollilah!!!!!!! i still can't believe that its done n over with!! luckily it took us about a month and 15 days!!!!!!!

Fesial - wats the status on urs?

My parents interview was also Aug 21st, same as yur and Feisal's, they got a call from embassy to submit their passports sept 18th, Well, we have been waiting for them to return their passports with the visa since then, but according to DOS, their visa is issued but not printed. Their passports are still sitting in the islamabad consulate. Even after everything is done, we are still waiting. based on my experience, i would give it a month after we submit the passort to actually get the passports back with the visa,

I know, it is very depressing, but the harder part(AP) is done, so atleast that gives u peace of mind. just send the passport ASAP, and pray.

  6. I know Omar, IA, they will call you soon, but it is just unbelivalbe how much they can drag you, i call DOS, just to see if they could tell me why my parents havnt recieved a call from Amex yet, and she told me, becuz the visa is NOT PRINTED yet, it has been issued but not printed, because their is a Que. it is just crazy. i am not sure if it will get there by friday. just hanging in there.

  7. I know we have booked too soon. They will be flying through ETIHAD airlines, and they charge nothing for rescheduling. we checked with them 5 X times before we booked. We knew it was possible that they wont get their passports in time but we were just praying that it would. still have one more day, have also been emailnig embassy, and gota reply from them

    Dear Sir/Madam,

Please wait and applicant will receive passport(s)/visa packet(s) soon via courier

so this looks promising but not sure if it will get their in time. My parents have also been calling Amex every day to see if the passports have already arrived and are not just sitting there.

lets see, keeping my fingers crossed.

  8. Thanks Feisal, I had Applied for my parents Immigration, I believe it is the same category as CR1

Interview date -Aug 21st 2009 (Father was put on AP)

Call from Embassy to submit passport- Sept 18th

    Submit passport Sep 19th

Still waiting to get the passort back.

We were so hasty and already booked the tickets for them for October 4th, and we still havnt recieved the passports :(

  9. Hey guys sorry I have been outta touch for a while.

So the story is we entered Chicago POE on Sept 20th. It was a really smooth breeze. Barely even two mins. They just took the documents given by the embassy and we were through and out. Its been a week now, and still no signs of the green card in the mail so of course the wait has not ended. But life is good.

Best of luck to all of us.

Welcome back L179 i thought you forgot about us.I am glade you are back home and enjoying winds in chitown.I have a question tho,POE do they assign it or you pick on ur own? like in my case i have to go to santa barbara, cali ....but i wanna stop by in NY for couple of days before going to cali...i m wondering if i can do that or not or i just have to arrive at certain POE.

POE can be anwhere. It doesnt matter where you will be going to. Some people who may take PIA but their final destination might be chicago, their entire immigration would be done in NY becuz PIA doesnt fly direclty to Chicago anymore. So, it your point of entry can be anywhere.

  10. hi, i was a silent member for this post for the last month after my interview for CR1 on 28/08/09. i m really impressed by this forum n i really got help from this forum. i appreciate all active members. Also i want 2 share that i have received call from embassy to submit my passport n it is due to almighty God. I recited SURA MUZZAMIL for continuous 3 days, 41 times each day, while reciting no breaks n after 3 days God blessed me. I saw this also on this forum by some member. Thanx forum for sharing n i m sharing my experience 2 in reply....... Good Luck 2 everyone who r still in AP.

Really glad it worked out for you. :) yes i recited this surat as well and got a call the second day, i still did finish it the third day too. but really, It worked like a miracle. all you guys out there who have been stuck a little longer than they should be, try it, InshaAllah Allah will bless you all.

  11. How is everyone doing? I guess still celebrating the Eid holidays

I have good news, (I think). A very nice DOS rep told me today that my fiance has been approved but his visa is pending issuance. They actually transferred his K-1 from the IV unit to the NIV unit (so it can be processed faster there, as the DOS rep told me) and that is why they requested another DS-157. But she was not able to tell me whether they put his new DS-157 into the system yet. InshaAllah they have put it in the system, and it will be a few days or a week or so until it is issued. But I am waiting until he receives it in his hand before I can be happy and celebrate. How is everyone else?

ETA: Oh and yes, I confirmed this information by calling DOS 3x today...can't risk being misinformed by a DOS rep, especially since it has happened to us before.

GREAT NEWS MARM. Really happy for you. :)

  12. My fiance got a reply from the US Embassy in London today, they asked him to email the DS-157 to them as an attachment. Thanks to another VJ member here: Stephen+Elisha, we got the savable version of the DS-157, and emailed it to the embassy today. InshaAllah it should not be long now.

Awesome news Marm, its easier that way and plus DS-157 doesnt require signature.U shud come in this forum often its a lucky forum :)

I do feel welcome here  (and of course it has proven to be lucky, for me as well as everyone who has gotten out of AP so soon and the rest waiting InshaAllah well get out of it soon as well). My fiance would have gone through the US Embassy in Islamabad if he had not been in the UK, but then we would have preferred to go the CR-1 route, something that I would advise everyone...go the CR-1 route, it's the best in all aspects: money, green card, and the wait time is about the same for Pakistanis. I wish the best to everyone else in here too, and I will for sure be posting updates here.

Yes, i agree, this is a luckey thread, almost evrey week some is getting out of AP. My parents got a call to submit their passport :) IA, Everybody will be out of AP soon.

  13. I thought I would ask everyone here...

Has the Islamabad embassy ever requested a new DS-157 during Admin Processing? The reason I am asking is after 4 months and 6 days of AP, the London embassy has asked my fiance for a new DS-157 form...don't know what they did with the one we originally sent before his interview, but I wanted to know if anyone here has been asked for a new DS-157 while in AP?

It seems like they are making progress on yur case, maybe completing the loose ends. Usually some forms expire within 6 months, if it has been 6 months that u have sent the form in, they probably need a new one. just send it and IA that should be it. :)

  14. Thank You Omar, IA, I think yur next:)

Just a little some thing like to share, if u are a believer, some1 told me to read Surat Muzammil 41 times, 3 days in row. Believe me, the second day i read it, i got this news, but i did finish it. the surat is almost 2 pages, so if u have one more person with u, it gets easier to read, and u have to read it in one go. no breaks. u can try it if u want, trust me it worked wonders for me.

    JazakAllah for this information :)

And as far as DOS reps, we have had bad experience with them too, a few of them are good people, but it depends on who you talk to...we went through hell with one just yesterday...she lied to us that my fiance was out of AP and the visa had been issued, and my family and my fiance's family, everyone was overjoyed...just to be thrown back into AP/AR hell again, when the second, third times I called yesterday I was told NO, it is not issued he is still in AP. I even called twice today and was told that it is still in AP..something about the first rep misinforming me...The best way to find out what is going on is email the embassy, and that is what we have done.

That is so depressing, i am so sorry to hear that. Even i have my doubts, that is why i called 3 times, the first 2 times they confirmed it but then the third time the lady said the same thing, that the case was still under AP. But then wen i told her about my first 2 calls, she told me that the consulate is in THE PROCESSof issuing the visa. I am still not sure until i hear from the consulate. i have been emailing them. Have you had a response from them because they never respond back to me. IA we all will make it. its only a question of time. Hang in there :)

  15. Well, i have news,I called DOS yesterday, and the lady i talked to told me that my case was under Final Review, i was like, so that means that it is done with AP, She said, yes, call back monday and we will have more info for you. Well, it sounded like good news to me, but i didnt want to wait till monday and also to make sure that i had gotten the info right i called again in the afternoon, and the some lady SARA, said that the visa has been issued and they should contact my family by monday. i told my parents to keep close to the phone, if in case they called. Any how, i had another question to ask DOS, so i called again today, i know i sound like a weirdo, calling DOS over n over again, well, some Janet picked my call, i asked her to check the case status and she tell me that the case is still AP. I was like how is that possible, because i called yesterday and they told me that thy are issuing the visa. She snaps at me, and says that, if u already know that, why have u called us again, so i told her that because i had another question...

The stupid women went on and on about her policies and the amountof info they can give us. i think it really does depend on who u talk to at DOS becasue i am sure they have alot of info athand which they refrain from telling us, any how, in short, she put me on hold for 5 min and returned to me tell that Islamabad embassy in THE PROCESS of issuing the visa. If i have anyother questions, i should contact islamabad embassy. I am sooo glad that it is almost over, but i wanted to know, if any 1 has any idea, how long they take to contact... should i contact islamabad embassy, or just wait.. any ideas ??

I know that is not over until you are here in the usa, so i am keeping my fingers corssed.

Congratulations zee12! mubarak ho app ko.

Thank You Omar, IA, I think yur next:)

  16. LOL I went through exactly the same experience with exactly the same ladies.. Janet actually almost made me cry and yelled at me that for people like you we dont tell about the visa issuance until the embassy contacts you.. she even had teh guts to say, embassy can stillc hange their mind.. imagine the misery!

Anyways, don't worry about it.. congratulations- visa has been issued! Islamabad will call your parents soon to either submit the passport and if they kept it at the interview then to actually pick it up.. if you really want to contact them, send an email to islamabad embassy- they will reply with a generic one liner letting you know that applicant will be contacted very soon meaning it's over!

No harm in emailing Isb embassy,.. they will get back to you asap!

OMG, that is exactly wat she said to me that they can always change their mind and i was like u mean change their mind after issuing the VISA, and she babbled some garbage polices which went right off my head. i wanted to give her a good one, but then, i was like never mind, let her bark, Any how, they didnot keep my parents passport, any idea how long before they contact them. i know eid is coming so everthing will be closed friday, and then for eid as well. i will deffinitly email them. Thanks HOPE :)
