  1. **** Moving from CR-1 spousal visa to Bringing Family of USC ****

As mentioned, a greencard is for residing in the USA. If you work abroad regularly, you may be in danger of loosing your greencard, but if you spend more time inside the USA than outside in any rolling year, you should be ok.

    Hi,

I agree to Penguin_ie as recently faced this situation.

Got I551 stamped on my passport few months back and traveled to US activate GC(employment based) for couple of days and returned back to home country.

In the meantime, i had project work in Latin America and used US as transit to travel. While travelling back, CBP took me to secondary inspection and asked tons of questions about my current situation. I explained that i intend to move with family in few weeks but they were adamant on taking serious note.

Also, explained that i have to live in US for more than 10 months every year to prove residency. After various requests, he wrote a BIG note in his computer system and said next time you have to enter US with family and have to live else GC will be cancelled.

OMG...just got saved. ( Everyone knows that while employed it takes 2-3 months after resignation to leave company and settle things to move to new Country)

Does anyone know of any serious implications of this warning for future? I intend to live in US and will move in 3 weeks , so can i travel outside US if required after 4-5 months of stay/

    Thanks a lot.
