  1. thank u guys

we were so happy today when she received her letter but then got dissapointed about it!

Lets hope everything will go right, and this will not cause ANY additional delays, i know maybe she will be allowed to do the test, but time after that is what make us worry.

3 days untill 5th anniversary is not proplem to wait, but time after that is

  2. i appologise to open similar topic here but we really need some info on this

my sister got interview date which is 3 days before 5 year anniversary date!

On N400 form it clearly states you are allowed to file form 90 days before annyversary.

So,why in this world immigration people dont look at the dates? This is not free,we are paying for this so there is no excuse!

I heard some people needed to reshedule their appoitments and i hope this will not be case with us!

I wolud like to hear from someone who had simmilar situation

    thx

  3. Hi Ryan1,

Likewise, I had a similar problem too....

I have a birth country, and I have another country of citizenship.

So when I filled out my forms..truthfully, I always put...

Country of birth: other country, Country of nationality/citizenship: Canada

I admit, I hated the fact that my green card and other documents have my birth country on it, as I have no connections to such anymore, and have not been there since I was born. I have lost citizenship to that birth country, and the only citizenship that I have is Canadian and my passport is Canadian.

So for the N-400, I answered it the same way....

But..I also enclosed an extra note/letter, plus proof of my Canadian citizenship, and explained my situation accordingly...

I basically said to them "My country of birth is (insert country name here), But my former country of Citizenship/Nationality is Canada. I would like my naturalization certificate to say "Canada" on it, as "I am Canadian"!. Any other country listed on my naturalization certificate is an error, and if this is the case, I would like a new certificate with "Canada" as my former country of citizenship, at no additional costs..."

Needless to say, my citizenship certificate says "Former country of citizenship: Canada"...which I am happy about...

Lol...So for you, and for anyone else in this situation, it boils down to:

What would you like listed on your naturalization certificate as "former country of citizenship".

In your case, Ryan1, I would just say "Cuba" for country of birth since your wife was born in Cuba, and "Cuba" for country of nationality, since your wife is a national of that country, and travels with that country's passport.

And then provide an extra note/letter explaining your situation about her Russian citizenship, like you did here....

It is better to tell the truth about this than to lie/conseal the fact of another country of citizenship, as that can be used against you if you lie to an immigration officer. So yes, say "Cuba", bring your Cuban passport to the interview, but also bring the Russian passport and explain accordingly about this citizenship.

Hope this helps too. Good luck with the rest of your immigration journey, and soon to be tri-citizen.

    Ant

P.S. You might also have to inquire with Cuba and Russia, as for what happens to those countries' citizenship status when she becomes an American citizen. Some countries allow you to keep dual/triple citizenship, and some don't...So you have to be careful there, especially when travelling....

if the question says "if you are citizen or national of more than one country, write the name of the country that issued last passport" why he should mention russian passport also? He is not lieing, he is only answering the question.

Question does not say "list all of countries you are citizen of".

  4. hmm to me this does not have sense,i hope it will not delay my app, anyone here have same issue?

my friend from phx got his NOA 5 months ago and he is telling me that on his receipt was only PHX adress!

also,on receipt it says i paid 595 $ for single aplication, i dont know what that means, i sent 675$ money order that includes both application and fingerprints!

Anyone know this is all normal?

When u guys say call INS, its almost impossible, should i take infopass and go to talk in person?

  5. my brother sent his N400 to PHX office 22 days ago, they have received it next day, and since then - nothing! Money order has not been cashed out and no NOA leter yet!

Now, they also received my N400 too 8 days ago and still nothing! I understend it takes some time but at least our check/money order should be cashed untill now, am i wrong? (After 22 / 8 days)

When i look processing times here almost everyone got at least their checks cashed out or NOA very quick!

I understand its still too early to panic but what are the our options if we dont get any info in next 1-2 weeks?

Calling 800 number i dont think is a option ,nobody answer there and if they do we will get probably generic answer - to wait!

Is going to INS good idea? do we need info pass for that? thanx

  6. I asked this question before but have not received response, and now i hope its not to late!

I live in AZ and sent my N400 90 days before my 5 years of residency date.

Now when checking out posts on this forum many people got their interview before 90 days!

Now if my interview is scheduled before 02/15/10 then i will not have 5 y of residency at my interview!

Am i right? Can this happen?

  7. guys i have read this post for fun but i can`t but ask you one thing.

I know many, and MANY people in US with 2 or 3 different citizenships and nobody has any problem with that!

I know Italians ,Romanians,Germans,UK...etc... all these people have more passports and nobody EVER had problems!

And simple question - after you get your US citizenship how your old country will know that?

How? Only if you tell them, right?

One my friend have 3 citizenships,Slovenia,UK and US! Got 3 passports and he is using all of them when he travels to different countries. No problems,no questions!

Some people have their properity in their home European countries, and they will go to live there when they retire,so why should they go to their country of birth, tell that they are US citizen now and they dont need their original citizenship revoced! I dont get it?

  8. Thank you very much for answers!

Thanx a god and you i didnt sent it today! I tought i can send any day after 15th of this month!

And for adress issue, well for 4 years and 9 months here in US i had only one adress but 3 months before i will come to US i lived in Europe and changed 3 different places in 3 months (because i wanted to visit all my friends and cousins before depart for US)!

Im affraid if i write all this places i will make some confusion!

And i live here in AZ, anyone know what is average time to finish all this process? We are in middle of november now,can i hope to have it done till next april? 4.5 months?

  9. Hi guys!

Im so excited because today is the day i waited all these years!

To be sure im doing everything right i would like to ask couple of questions!

    1. Im resident since 2.15.2005. Today will be 5 years minus 90 days! Im i correct?

    2. Question on N400 says : where you have lived last 5 years? I lived only at one adress in US! Thats easy! But are those 5 years from TODAY or from 2.15.2010 when my 5 years will actually count? If it is from today then i have to write my address where i lived prior to come to US (3 months) ? That will be a problem!

    3. Where and how to send application? I live in AZ and i see two different adresses : PO box and for express deliveries Sky Harbor adress! Im confused! Can i use fedex? If yes, what adress to use? Or what you recommend ?

    Thank you in advance

  10. Hi all

My mom is debating if should apply for citizenship or not!

fact is- She understand english i would say 40-50%.

She can learn this 100 questions, but will understand only if she reads them!

I mean she can give correct answer but she has hard time to understand a question if someone else read it.

Other then that she can write and read english, but only simple sentences.

Do you guys know if she will have any chance to pass, or will IO officer allow her to read her questions ?

  11. Hi all!

Im new here and just spent all morning reading here!

I found a lot of usefull info.

I have 1 quest for you guys..

First- im citizen of 2 european countries (italy-denmark), and i have 2 passports!

One passport (from denmark) i never used for travel, and that passport was issued 4 months ago here,in US from Danish ambassy.

Now, because i didnt mention my denmark citizenship on my US citizen application (only my italian) should i take it anyway to my interview?

If i take both passports to my interview im afraid it will take more confusion and additional questions!

Is there any question at the interview how many citizenships or passports i have? Can they know i have other passport even if i never used it for travel?

    thanx
