  1. this might be a silly question... i am marrying my fiance soon who is here on a k1 visa

my question is after we file our i485, i131, and i765; and if they are all sent to the chicago lockbox address,

how do i know which office, suboffice, etc. to check for it's processing time?

we are nervous after a few delays and so much expense, i really want to keep an eye on it as much as possible and hope that we don't need any more expensive medical exams eek

    thanks for any help

    Hi :

    Congradulations for the newlywed.

Yes, if you apply all those 3 together, you can send them all to Chicago in one envolop.

Just make sure you label your different applications clearly. Cover letter with a list of your document will be nice.

Once they receive your envolop, they will give you a letter with receipt numbers for each application. You can check processing progress on USCIS website with the receipt numbers.

    Good luck

  2. Dorane,

Your friend can have two petitions at the same time. She can file her I-130 and I-485 at the same time while the H1 petition is pending. Also she can apply for an EAD card so she has a fall back in case something happens to her H1.

    I hope this helps.

oh, Sorry, I am a little confussed here.

My friend is currently applying I140+I485 (through employment), not applying H-1.

So, can she apply I-130+I485 (through marriage) while I-140+I485 is pending? Since these 2 petitions are in different categories?

    Thanks again.

  3. On July 31 I received an email saying a welcome letter was mailed and on August 8 I got another email saying the approval notice was likewise sent.

It is now the 9th and I have'nt received the welcome letter yet. We've changed our address in April, sent the forms (AR-11, I-865) and called the 1-800 #. I got the letter confirming that our addy was changed in the system. However, I am still thinking they sent it to our old addy.

While I am willing to wait for a few days more, I'd like to know in advance what needs to be done in case an infopass appointment next week confirms that the Welcome letter/GC/Approval Notice is returned to USCIS.

Thank you in advance for any advice you can give me.

I think the notice letter would say that you have to wait for 30 days. I don't know whether the infopass or 1-800# would help you if you don't wait for 30 days.

The better way is to write a letter directly to USCIS, not call or infopass.

My work permit was returned to USCIS (although I never changed my address). I called 1-800# to request resend twice but nothing happened. So, I wrote them letter and they resent my work permit right away. FYI

  4. Hi:

My friend summit I- 485 and 140 to adjust status from H-1 to PR at the end of last year and USCIS said they are out of number. So, she probably has to wait for another year or 2.

She just married a citizen last month.

Can she withdraw her current AOS and apply another AOS now?

How fast can the withdraw be processed?

Does she have to leave the country before she apply new AOS?

Or, can she just apply a new one while the H-1 one is pending?

    Thank you very much.

  5. THANK YOU GUYS...YOU GAVE US PEACE OF MIND.....GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU!

    Hi:

I sent the original marriage certificate for my AOS (well, I confess I didn't read through the instruction..).

Then my AOS was approved without interview. Oh, they returned my original copy when AOS was approved.

I don't know I am just lucky or partly because I sent the original certificate.

    Just a piece of information.

  6. No u just go to their web site and send them an email. A case worker will then decide whta to do. Go to google and if u know his name just type it in and then click on search. You'll have his web site right on. If u dont know his name just type House of representative or Senate. In the web site they have a link to the zip code search. Enter the zip code and u'll find your county representative. Good Luck!

    Thank you very much. *^_^*

  7. Hello:

    I am very frustrated here.

My EAD was approved in March and I got a notice from USCIS in Apr. that my address is not deliverable. Weird, I don't move at all.

I requested resend right away and they said I have to wait for 30 days. After 30 days, I still haven't received anything. I called and they said they have no idea what's going on and will resend again. (They admit there is no tracking system in USCIS!!!) I asked can I pick up the document in local office and they said no. The standard procedure is to resend 3 times, if I still don't receive anything after 90 days, then they will "transfer the case to another angent".

What the hell? what's wrong with the knucklehead USCIS?

Is there anything I can do? I heard about people going to their congressman office for help. Can I get help from congressman office, too? Do I need special network to contact a congressman?

    Thanks for the great help.

  8. Hello:

It has been 45 days since I got my first NOA of EAD and AOS application. But I haven't received any fringerprint appointment yet. I totally agree that calling the 800 number is wasting time so I want to go to Infopass to check out.

However, I am in CA now and my application address is in Las Vegas. Can I go to Infopass in CA or I have to go to Las Vegas office for Infopass?

Thanks a lot and Happy Valentine's Day. *^_^*
