In the searching I've done, it seems the income requirement is 125% of the official poverty line, and my father can co-sponsor for me to meet this requirement.

I, however, spent 2006-2007 abroad (where I met my fiancee), and I had no official reported income. I was teaching English and being paid in cash, and my income would have been far below U.S. poverty level (although I was quite comfortable with that income in the country I was living in). None of it was ever deposited in a bank account, and I didn't file any income tax those years.

I read that, even if you have a co-sponsor, the same income documents are still required. Is this true? What if I didn't have a bank account or any income tax returns (unless I go back to 2005)? Anyone know?

    Thanks,

    Hello there Daniel,

I just read your post. I would like to share something I am not sure if this applies to your country. I am from Philippines. I just had my interview last July 30, 2008. I asked about co-sponsor but here in Philippine Consulate they don't accept co-sponsors on K1 Visa. I am not sure if same there in your country.

My fiance's income tax didn't reach the poverty level too cos he just had his job August 2007. So we're asked for proof that he's earning over $14,000 cos that's the amount needed for 2 person, my fiance and I. So we provided his salary history from August of 2007 up to the last salary he had this year which is July 2008. And they accepted it. Do you have any current jobs this year?

Wrong! 99.9% of the time USEM does allow co sponsors for K1s.

I agree! I'ts 100% the USEM does allow co sponsors for K1.

  2. USCIS employe sucks. They approve us in just 61days but the NVC sent back our case to them and we we're RFI.And it took them two months's to find out what's the problem in our aplication. And now,we're approved for the 2nd time(March 8,2010) but its ben 10 days but the NVC don't have our case yet but they gave our manila case number,How can we have a case number if they didn't have our case yet? huh! I hope the goverment can do something about that.. They get payed but seems like they are not doing their job well.. :bonk:

  3. Hi! We got approved last March 8. After 4days my fiance start calling the NVC to ask if they already have our case. They always said, they have not receive it yet.But yesterday,my fiance called again and the person he spoke to said they don't have it yet but they gave us our Manila case number. That confused me.. How can they gave us our case number if they still don't have our case?

  4. But m still confused. We have our 1st NOA2 last OCT 28,2009 and were in RFI.So this is our 2nd NOA2 (March 8,2010).I wonder if the Manila case number they gave us today is from our 1st NOA2.Is it posible? Cause our manila case number starts with MNL 2009 *** ***.As far as I know it should start with MNL 2010 *** ***.But I also know that you can have manila case number when your case is ready to send to US consulate. And our 1st NOA2 was sent back to USCIS,so probably the embasy already have our case. Will find out more tomorrow. For my fiance will call NVC and USCIS.huh!

By the way,I have a friend, who got their NOA2 same date as we did (March 8,2010) Their case left NVC last March 15,2010 and their case is already in the embasy now.
