  1. Hey guys,

I was just wondering if anyone knows what happens to the EAD and AP after the case is transferred to the CSC. After replying to my RFE my case was transferred but im still waiting for the other documents other than my green card and because of the RFE they are overdue (my NOA1 for all is April 22nd). Are they still with the original people to be processed? Anyone who has experienced this...how long did it take to get the EAD? I would love to start working ASAP.

    Thank you,

    x

  2. Congrats guys, enjoy :)

I felt so happy reading your post because our interviews were the same time and I feel like I have been in the US for ages now and my relationship with my husband has improved so much since then. I was excited to see that you guys can now settle together. I live in Philadelphia now so PM me if you ever wanna meet for coffee or whatever!

Take care and have fun :D

  3. I just got an RFE too and I was racking my brains trying to think of what it could be, and it turned out that they needed this years tax transcripts from my co-sponsor but she filed for an extension! BUMMER! We are just trying to get hold of that now. Did you send the most recent tax years transcripts? I ask because it looks like you, like me, were just at the cut-off between tax years. I thought it would be ok to send last years but clearly not! I hope you get whatever it is sorted out quickly. Best of luck :)

  4. It says:

'IRS-issued transcripts of your federal income tax return for the most recent tax year,

    OR

The Federal Income Tax form 1040 and supporting schedules filed with the IRS'

I assumed that either one of these would be impossible to get because the transcripts we dont have yet, and the 1040 and supporting documents one says 'filed with the IRS' and it hasnt been filed yet. I will phone them tomorrow and find out for sure though.

    :)

  5. Please noet that i'm from England and that is sarcasm. I just got an RFE letter for my adjustment of status asking for our co-sponsor's tax transcripts from this year, so ok, no problem there...but I ask her for them and it turns out she has filed for an extension and won't be paying them until August!!! I asked her to pay them ASAP if she could knowing that she would understand and she said she will but it will still take 3-6wks to get transcripts :( I was hoping to be working in 4wks based on my projected date for EAD completion. Im gonna call and try to sort something out tomorrow but negotiating with the government is like trying to negotiate with a duck. Rant over :D

  6. I didnt even have to fill in a W-8Ben. I bank with Wachovia. At the moment my husband and I have a joint account in order to prove our relationship, and we intend to eventually have separate accounts too (im waiting til im allowed a job so il actually have money to put in it)! It shouldnt matter if you switch banks, just as long as you have a joint account if thats the evidence you want to use at your interview.

  7. Hey guys,

So I got married last week and im just getting the last bits of paperwork ready to send my AOS packet off. I was just wondering...There are the 3 main forms to be sent off, I485, I131 and I765. These all require 2 passport photos and a certified copy of the marriage certificate. Are these requirements only written for if you are sending them separately? Or do I really need 6 photos and 3 copies of the cert?

What has everyone else sent who has completed the AOS process?

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Have a great day :D

  8. Hey guys,

I haven't been on here in a while but after a visit to the SSA the other day, I wanted to post to give everyone a story of a good experience as I have read a lot of negative ones and wanted to say 'there is hope!'

Since arriving in the US 3 weeks ago, I have so far got a bank account and applied for my Social Security Number. Both of these experiences were very quick and pleasant. The guy in the bank only needed my passport as proof of who I am, and was extremely nice and set up my account within 15mins, 3 days after arrival in the states.

At the SSA, I had a 20min wait but then went through (you dont even need to fill in the paperwork that VJ says...you just go in and theres 1 form on the side...but fill it in if you are worried anyway). The guy was very nice and made jokes with us and put us as 'priority' for no reason. He said to make sure my name was on the mailbox or the mail guy isnt allowed to leave it there. Then we were out.

So yeah...its not all as bad as some people seem to experience it.

    Just thought id share!

  9. Hey Rachel,

My dad just booked my family's tickets to fly out for the wedding (April 1st) and when he was booking he told me that he was booking with continental (united) because he knew that British Airways were about to announce a strike the next day and that the other airlines prices would majorly increase. The strike started last week I believe and shouldn't last too long (they generally don't do they?). If you wait for BA to be all up and running again, there will be more outbound flights and so more competition for the airlines to give cheap prices again.

I hope this helps. Now I have to get back to my packing...Ted and I go back to the states tomorrow!!!! :D Last time this time. YAY!

  10. Forgive me if I come across patronising, my intentions are 100% to be helpful incase you hadnt thought of this...

Does anyone have family coming over for the wedding or shortly after? I am paying my family 30quid each to take a 2nd suitcase with them with my stuff in. Its way cheaper than shipping if your stuff is light enough. I hope this might help someone :)

(I am paying them as its 32quid for an extra bag on the airlines baggage allowance thing, they are not being bribed haha!)

  11. Omg im so glad I saw this thread. I had booked flights for my fiance and I to travel to scotland on sunday and then found out I need my passport to travel there even though im british. I have been panicking all day and calling the airline and the embassy to try and get my passport back quickly or see if I can use another form of ID incase my visa doesnt arrive before sunda. Then I saw this thread and decided to check the tracking site again and it turns out its being delivered tomorrow!!! IM SO LUCKY!!! :D It was gonna cost 143quid to re-schedule flights :) Yay for the embassy being speedy :D

  12. Hi everyone.

    I got approved today :D

Interview was fine. I was really tired and bored waiting but was out in about 2.5hrs and all went well. They asked about 7 questions and the one I was nervous about ('what does he do for a living?') was absolutely fine even though I had to say hes unemployed. She didnt bat an eyelid...just moved on...

Earl grey girl...were you the one in the blue scarf with dark hair?

    Congrats!

  13. I have started to feel sick with nerves about friday every time I check this thread now...

Congrats to everyone who has been approved recently! Im so happy for you. What an amazing feeling that must be. I hope to be joining you with that feeling on friday. My fiance is travelling over tomorrow for a month which we only decided last week so I wont be on my own for the interview now which helps. Ooooh my stomach, just talking about it. NERVES!

  14. The embassy give dates once a month it seems, at the beginning of each month. You were possibly just too late to get a date in january so keep your fingers crossed for first 2wks in feb. You can call the DOS to find out if you have been logged (number in many other threads-cant remember atm) and they can give you a date a few days before you find out via letter too...

  15. Hellooo!

My fiance and I are considering all options at the moment, weighing out the best way to go about our future together. My fiance (the USC) has been laid off from work since december. We have our interview on the 29th Jan, and are hoping that with his mother as a co-sponsor, all will go well. If it does, and I get my visa, we are not sure where to go from there.

My fiance is concerned that if I travel over on my K1 in february, then we will only have til may to send off for AOS, and he is worried that he wont have found a job he is happy in by then...at least he is considering that possibility.

What are the chances of passing AOS if he is still unemployed if we use his mother to co-sponsor again? If the chances are pretty high, I will go over using the K1, but if its too risky, I was thinking of going over on a tourist visa again for a couple of months to give him time to find a job he is happy in with no pressure.

I would prefer to go over in feb on the K1 and get married on april 1st as planned, but his happiness comes first, so if its risky to apply for AOS while hes unemployed, then I will wait.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Anyone know of anyone from London who hasnt got through AOS? Or of the reasons why anyone from any country hasnt passed that stage?

    Thanks so much guys,

    Take care,

    Nikki
