She finally got the visa at hand!!!
Thank you all for your help and support. This has been a great site and support team. I can't wait to see her.
Should I get her a return ticket or a one-way ticket? Would it matter when she enter here at the US?

I don't know if I should celebrate or not. My fiance had her interview today. She went to the interview 7am and her interview started at 6PM. She was told to come and pick her passport tomorrow because all the staff had already gone home. Is that a good thing? Will she get the visa????
I am on the edge of my seat. I want to celebrate but I feel that I don't want to jinx anything.

Thank you guys. I'll have her have some "extra" cash just in case.
Do you think it would help if I fly to be with her at the interview? or would that be too much and redundant?

Hi,
Thankfully, we received our interview date letter. It is stating that we have to pay $400.00 fees for the immigrant visa and $131 for the K1 visa? The letter is not clear if we should pay both or only the $131. Has anyone gone through this process? Can you let me know.
Thanks,Farid

I just wouldn't sent it until I got the police report if I was you. Make sure everything is COMPLETE in the packet with what they are asking for or they might just send it back. Well, not send it back but you may have a delay in getting an interview scheduled and you don't want that. My fiance did not mail his packet back for like a month (3 days short of a month actually) and we made sure everything they asked for on the list was included. We received the Packet 4 letter just days after we mailed back 3.5 with the interview date on it. Jope this helps & hope they hurry up & get you the police certificate soon!!
Wishes for a smooth visa journey

Thank you for responding!
I think I am going to do what you said. I don't want to risk delaying it further even it is very frustrating. I got a chance to speak to the afghan consulate in dc to see if they can send a letter. He said yes but God knows how long it will take. Hoping for the best.
Happy Eid and Thanksgiving!

I am having trouble getting a police report from Kabul. I NEVER thought that getting a police report would delay the process. apparently i have to get a letter from the embassy in dc asking for the police report to be released. Anyone has any experience on this? please enlighten me.
so my question is how long do i have before I have to send in the packet 3.5 back? Ideally i wanted to send it right away but it took some time to prepare everything else. I am also contemplating sending in the rest without the police report. what do you guys think?
thanks in advance,
Farid

I am wondering if anyone knows how flexible the islamabad embassy is regarding setting a date for interview? I want to be there with my fiance at the interview and depending on when they set the interview it may not happen when i am around. if anyone has any experience in this please let me know how it went. I don't want to re-schedule if it will cause problems.

That is correct - the numbers do not get into the system that is online. However once Manila has sent you the letter - the call center will be able tp track via the MNL number.I know 2 years ago for K-1 visas they did not update the automated system. I called and called and our number never showed. Finally spoke to a real person and they explained do not put these numbers in the system.Be calm, letter from the embassy will come soon.
Good luck
Our experience was as follows:
08/03/2009 NVC Letter advising the I-129F is approved and will be sent to the embassy.
08/22/2009 Manila time Air21 Delivers the WRONG packet to Fiancee in Manila - left unopened
So that was 19 days. We have heard of a number of miss-sends and so I guess if you don't have a letter after 30 days call the call center - not the embassy - and ask regarding the number.
Thank you with this information. I was a little worried before but I feel better now. I will check with the embassy within 30 days to see if they received it or not.
cheers, Farid

I got a letter from state department that my case was received by NVC and is going to be forwarded in one week to the embassy. The letter has a case number listed in it. But when i call the automated number, the case number is missing. Is this normal? Should I be worried?

MumtazG38 : Sorry to hear about your interview experience and AP.Some of the COs are rude with everyone for no reason and it is highly un-professional that he rudly told you to sitdown. You shouldnt take that upon ur heart and just ignore it, i was interviewed by a rude CO as well but i know how to talk to these kinda people so when i started tawkin wid ma firm and deep NY accent he changed his tone ......no need to be rude...lol . Anyways just to let you know i am still under AP and its been more than 90 days now.I called DOS and ISL and according to them my passport is at non-immigrant visa unit no further information is available they just say its pending. But the thing is my case is K-1 and what i noticed cr1/ir1 APs seems to be shorter so hang in there. It will be over before you know it.....Good Luck.
are the interviewers american or Pakistani?

I am psyched! I just received a letter from NVC that my case is forwarded to the consulate in Pakistan. :-)
-
I say get it corrected it and mailed. You would rather wait 1-2 weeks for this to get to you than to wait 3 months if USCIS issues an RFE.
-
My case just got approved and is heading to Islamabad. Any advice on when to contact them for interview??

Haha....I guess you have to be part of the campaign for liberty to understand that line. Nice! Its good to know we are all over the place

Email the DS-3032 as soon as you can, they will send you a response in 3 days or so, you can email them before the AOS Bill is paid. You have to wait for the AOS Bill, so you can get the Invoice ID Number (IIN) to pay the bill online. At this point there are two parallel tracks at NVC that can be followed on to submit the I-864 and the other for the DS-230.
The I-864 and DS-230 can be downloaded and prepared in advance.
This DS-3032 and I-864 and DS-230 forms are for K3/CR-1 visas right? don't remember reading about these in any K1 related guides. So my basic question is, as a K1 visa applicant, i don't have to deal with any of these forms?
-
I can't say for sure because mine is not even to that point yet but I have also heard from family/friends that it takes about 3/4 months.
Also, a question for you, do you know what kind of documentation the pakistan embassy requires? such police report (from kabul?), affidavit of support documentation (do they require tax returns?), and any other thing I need to keep an eye on?
-
if you read the instructions for I-134, it asks for last year's W2 forms and tax returns. That might help if you couple that with the savings/bonds and the house.
something else that I have heard people do is to transfer the benefitiary's money into the petitioner's bank account and leave it there until the interview comes. You can show that as part of the income as well. Not sure if this will fly with some people here.
I also have a question regarding this and don't mean to jump on your wagon. I do have a job that will get me passed the 125% income above poverty and am paying mortgage for a house. Do i need to list that house? I'd rather not if i don't have to.

Congrats!!
and Yes i agreee.....maybe this is too fast lol....

Congrats!
It is the greatest feeling :-)

Hi everyone,
I just received an email from the USCIS stating "On September 28, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)." Can anyone tell me if this is this my NOA2?
I filed the I-129F ~Aug. 23 and my NOA-1 was issued on Aug. 25, so I was a little surprised by this email (seems early). The USCIS website has my case status as "Post Decision Activity" (it was in "Initial Review"). I'm a little worried that maybe I've just been denied or something, but both the website and the email state "approved" and I don't think there's a reason they would deny me. I haven't received anything in the mail yet (just got the email and text message tonight), so maybe it's just a glitch in their new website? I guess I'll cross my fingers for now.
The VSC has recently shifted a large number of its adjudicators to I-129fs to get "caught up"
Hopefully quite a few of us can ride this wave. Thanks for your thread.
I sure hope so. :-)

The new USCIS website lets you view the number of filings on a month-by-month basis - it even breaks it down by service center. You can compare that info to Igor's List (select All Petitions) and divide to find out what percentage of your month's petitions are represented on VJ. For example, VSC received 2,458 I-129Fs in March. There are 155 March VSC timelines on VJ, which represents just over 6% of the total.

according to this data, since the beginning of this year, they are processing the applications faster than they are receiving them. That is always good.
and for july 85 VJ'ers out of 1859 is right around 5%. The reason I wanted to know this was that given that the VJ'ers are statistically random samples of the total applicants it would be a good indicator of the true processing times.
If VJer's are a statistically random sample of the average applicant population, the total number of applicants is irrelevant to determining if VJ statistics are a good indicator of true processing times. Statistics accuracy is based on sample size but doesn't vary based on the fraction that the sample is of the total population. That is, a sample of 200, for instance, would give statistics with the same accuracy whether the total population was 5,000 or 1,000,000.
sure it does. are you telling me that if the total population was 5000 and VJ applicants only 5 (random applicants) that you would have a good idea of the true processing time? The higher the number of VJ applicants the higher the resolution becomes and the more accurate the result.
