If you haven't heard anything yet, I would give them a call. Mostly just to "nudge" your case for a touch. I was surprised to see that we had gotten a RFE but then oh well. Someone had mentioned the 3 pillars that they are looking for and I am thinking because I didn't outline it in the listing of the cover letter is why we got it. Even though I don't have my hubby on my mortgage, I thought I presented enough evidence with showing all of our forms state the same address for the both of us. I mean, driver's license, bank accounts, auto insurance, life and health ins etc....

This time I wrote out a letter specifying why he wasn't on the mortgage, and again added more bills with both of our names and addresses on there. Hopefully this will fullfill what they are wanting. If not, then I don't know what else to submit.

And_Sam, what are the 3 pillars that you mentioned? I've got my US cell on hold at the moment. .. do you think if I put my Canadian cell # down in the interim that they would use that for texting? I'm just holding everything in abeyance right now. It's not overly stressful, but definitely something that is on my mind.

Unfortunately it is not the norm to see the RFE on the website. It could easily come in the mail without any kind of notifications. Also, as you filed on your own, are you aware that there is a chance for you to be called for an interview?

I'm aware that I could be called in, and if that's the case and I'm away then I'll either have to request that it be rescheduled or withdraw my application. Unfortunately, that's the reality of my situation at the moment. I'm afraid that the RFE may have been lost in the mail and I'm just not sure what to do or when exactly I should trigger any kind of an inquiry.

Hey everyone ... just curious if the RFE shows up on the USCIS site? I'm away (actually out of the USA) for the next 3 months and am temporarily having my mail forwarded. I'm keeping an eye on it on the web site in case the person I'm having it forwarded to somehow misses it and I can nudge them to scan it to me. My case is based on divorce and so I think that I'll likely be one of the last ones to get any kind of notification. However, before I left there was a HUGE mix up from the post office and some of my mail got lost- literally. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The EAC number doesn't work... to be honest I'm a little concerned about this. I had tried to add my case in March and thought possibly that it was just late being logged into the system. Now, 6 months later this is raising a red flag for me.

Should I contact them or just wait it out? I suppose that I could wait and once the VSC filers start getting theirs back address it if I still don't have any communication.

Seems like the CSC is ahead of the game. VSC will catch up eventually, I'm sure! It's saying 8.5 months which puts us somewhere in November/December for any news.

Hoping someone can help me with the online USCIS site. I've tried to enter my "Receipt" number (that starts with 3 letters) and is a total of 13 characters long into my profile for tracking but it keeps telling me that it's not a valid number.

Has anyone else run into this situation?

I would love to be able to keep track of my case file but it won't even acknowledge that I have one!

I'm preparing to file the I-751 (Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence). My husband and I separated the end of March 2010, and are currently in the process of the court dates to obtain our Divorce. The first court date is this Friday where they will set our matter for trial (unfortunately, I'm not sure how long that will be).

My 2-year GC expires Feb 23/2012. I know that I MUST file before this date and am hoping that I will have the divorce certificate by then, but I might not.

I believe that under the "Basis for Petition" I am able to check (d) "I entered into the marriage in good faith, but the marriage was terminated through divorce or annulment." - and include an explanation that I am waiting for the divorce certificate. I understand that they will issue an RFE for the divorce certificate.

The evidence that I plan to submit is as follows:

- joint bank accounts from Suntrust (every 4 months up until termination)

- Copy of lease at apartment with both names on the lease

- Insurance for car showing each other as joint drivers/insured on each others' vehicle

- AAA Cards – joint membership

- Copies of drivers license showing same address

- Tax Return transcripts 2009 & 2010

- Copy of airline tickets from trip to Las Vegas

- Letters from 2-3 friends outlining their experience with us as a couple

Should I include in my cover letter information about the pending divorce? My husband had claimed bankruptcy so we have no joint debt or credit cards and none of the utilities could be put in his name because of his terrible credit. I think I should include that also on my cover letter?

Since I am filing "alone", is the I-751 the only document that I need to submit? I keep reading about the WAIVER but can't seem to locate any document in addition to the 751 which I would fill out.

Any advice or suggestions are welcome.

Interview was today in Memphis...it was great...our officer approved us during the interview! The total face-time was about 10 minutes ~ doesn't mean it wasn't stressful, but at the end of it all the process was relatively straight-forward!

Even though the RFE was not related to the EAD? I would have thought that they were totally separate...maybe I'm grasping at straws here because I really want my EAD as soon as possible!

I received a RFE the other day because I had submitted the wrong Affidavit of Support (I needed to do the 864, not the 134...grrrr)....anyway just curious whether anyone knows if my case will be held in abeyance until I send that form in or whether it will be processed separately and will not delay my EAD?

Just wanted to update that I did a walkin / walk-in biometrics today in Nashville. Not a soul in there except the guard and the person that takes fingerprints. It was very easy, they were professional, efficient and friendly. My biometrics was scheduled for 12/16 but I'm hoping to get my EAD sooner than later so I took the chance to do a walk-in...hopefully it will pay off!

Happy Thanksgiving! We just got biometrics letter today scheduled for December 16th but I'm planning to do a walk in on Monday or Tuesday. Haven't heard whether or not Nashville does them, but I'm hoping they do since I'm really hoping to move the process along to get my EAD so I can work!

Thanks for all the replies everyone...we've managed to get a loan from my parents to help us get by (not really something I want to be doing, but can't risk the repercussions). I am adjusting from an O status which is entirely different and am now lost in the immigration process. Makes me really upset that the USA can an unemployment rate that is over 10% yet for those who want to work and who are being offered jobs can't because of red-tape....common sense is clearly not a requirement in this process!

I have a SSN with DHS auth but I don't work for that company anymore. My hubbie and I only have his income and things are so tight right now that I don't know how we're going to pay rent next month. That leads me to the choice I have to make. I'm looking at getting a part-time cashier job just to get by, it will not be permanent (and is really seasonal help). We have filed all of our AOS docs, EAD, etc...so, the question is this:

Since I have the SSN with the DHS auth and the EAD that I'm waiting for is only a technicality, will it show up on a SSN background check and if not, is it a big deal to get the temporary part time work?

Any help would be appreciated....I just don't know how deeply that the company will dig since it's just a cashier job and not a manager position or any big HR job or whatever...?

What if you already had an EAD from before, and filed a new one? I was employed, have a SSN and an EAD but am no longer there. I need to find part time employment for the holidays to keep us financially afloat. Since I have an SSN can I just apply anywhere else? Although I don't expect any issues with doing that was just curious if anyone else has had an experience with changing employers (or getting new employment)...?

Hopefully it will come in today....I'll be waiting! As for the cheque (or check as they spell it here in the US), we used a bank draft so at this point there's no way to track it. Will just have to wait.

I'm getting a little anxious...mailed my package on 11/06, they received it on 11/09 (verified by USPS online) and I haven't received my NOA1 yet ...it's been over a week... average seemed to be taking less than that. I hope it's a good sign that everything was perfect and they're moving right on to the processing center!

I put it all together with tabs at the bottom, two hole punched, proper payment and all supporting evidence. I pained over the entire package for weeks before sending it in. Now, time seems to be standing still. Waiting is so hard.
