  1. only thing i hate about vietnam is the mosquitoes and the crazy humidity. the flies dont even bother me...err kinda does actually when you're eating pho on the streets and you see flies all over the meats and stuff is pretty gross. haha!

  2. how the heck do i translate the word "hia"? for example: hia oi, hia dang lam gi? or hia co khoe khong? it's a word my wife use to call me. i know it's a formal way of saying brother or husband but seriously if i translate it then it would go like: oh husband, are what are you doing? or are you well husband? that just sounds weird to me. also im starting going to mail my i-130 and how much evidence of a bonafide marriage. i have lots of pictuers, emails and mails. not to mention airplane tickets, receipt from hotels and restuarants.

  3. i was drinking with my dad and he said that every time he goes vietnam...like 2 times a year, he would always put in 5 dollas in the passport to give to the gate guy. you know the one who looks at your passport and them stamp it before you go downstaris to get your luggage. this is in saigon by the way. now im heading there this friday 6/4, and my dad said i should do the same thing. so uhh should i?

  4. im curious of those are in ap in hcmc are of different ethnicity other than vietnamese. circumstancial wise, people i've talked to are having a pretty smooth ride. aka parents of beneficiary and petitioner knows each other back in the old days so they bring the petitioner to vietnam and look for a wife/husband.

  5. i also have another question in regards to this guide. in the section listing all the documents from the beneficiary

    * Beneficiary’s passport biographic page (Photocopy)

The applicant and each applicant that is traveling together with the applicant must submit a photocopy of the biographic data page from the respective valid passport.

Submit a photocopy of the biographic data page of the applicant’s and the applicant’s individual family members’ valid passports.

This is the page that shows the applicant’s name and date and place of birth.

Note: Do NOT send the applicant’s passport(s) to the NVC, just the photocopy of the biographic data page.

my question is...what if my wife do not have a passport? heck, she never left her provience in her whole life for that matter.

  6. No where in any process like k1,k3,CR1 does it say you need a time line. They will just make you do one after the interview if they think some fraud is going on or if the CO feels like it.

are you serious? what a bunch of jerks. this is vietnam we're talking about here. they're so damn strict. not only that, they make you wait for so long just for an oppertunity to get up there and speak to someone. oh yea, the cafe across the street from the vietnam consulate is crazy expensive. 50k for a cup of coffee. ok ok by cup of coffee i mean a quarter full and a lot of ice.

  7. Thank you canadian wife.

What about question 15. We are thinking that you only need to fill this in if you are already working for a company in the USA?! Is that right?

Question 15: Name and address of present employer (if any)

I think this means if your husband is employed, then list it. I don't think it has to do anything with the states. The only reason why I said that is because it is listed on the beneficiary side of the I-130. Of course I could be wrong and a second opinion is always helpful.

  8. Sitting here working on my I-130 for my wife to come to the states I began to think I did my I-130 in Vietnam during my last vacation there.

    1) I went to HCMC and paid them about $30 (they only accept $) and filled out a paper where they asked me if I swear everything I said was the truth. Sat there for over and hour just to say "I swear" and went home.

    2) Went to the clinic and my wife and I got tested. They gave us a few piece of paper to hand in with my passport, her birth certs, and signed a bunch of paperwork.

    3) My uncle who works at the police dept. got two pieces of paper for me to sign for the police. I am guessing it is a police cert/clearance. I don't have a copy for myself.

    4) We both went to our interviews in Soc Trang where they asked us such questions as how, where, where and did anyone forced us to marry, etc. About 16 questions total.

    5) Got dressed up. I wore a suit and she wore a traditional Vietnam dress and we went to the marriage ceremony room where they had us signed some paperwork. They gave us our own copies of marriage cert.

That was that, here I am now back in the states. Anyone else had to do this when they got their marriage cert?

  9. Instead of waiting to get all your questions answered, fill out the forms, mail them to her and then wait to get them back, why don't you have her sign several blank copies and mail them to you right away. By the time you receive them you should be sure of everything, then just fill in the forms and send your petition. Plus, in case you make a mistake somewhere, it is good idea to have an extra copy or two signed by her, and then you can make last minute corrections before you send it of to USCIS.

    Just an idea ...

holy moly! i really never thought of that. you are like a blinding ray of light from heaven.

  10. I am currently in the process of working on the form G-325A. Now, my wife resides in Vietnam and I am filling this out for her and then mailing four copies to her so she can sign. On the top, it asks family name, does that mean my name or her name? Oddly enough, a couple of sections below it asks "Current Husband or Wife, if none, so state) Family Name (For wife, give maiden)"

My intrepetation of this is that when I fill out for her, I will put her name on the very top where it asks for family name, dob, birth place and such. Then I enter my name in the "Current Husband or Wife, if none, so state) Family Name (for wife, give maiden)"

Also, when I am filling out for myself, I have to switch and put my name on the very top and list her as my wife where it as for currently husband or wife. Am I correct?

  11. well back in my of 2008 i went to vietnam and my parents intro her to me. we hit it off and kept on talking when i came back to the states. i have boarding pass, receipts from hotels and restaurants even copies of letters back from 2008. not to mention i call her at least two times a week. isnt that enough? =/
