  1. From what I can tell from the vj time-lines on Ghana there have been only 4 cr1 interviews scheduled in 2010. One in January, one in February, one in March, and one for October. If I can remember correctly, I believe the October interview resulted from an expedited request. Bottom line - it is quite pathetic. This is coming from someone who is just waiting for an NOA2. I figure that my husband won't have an interview until 2012. As you know we have written to everyone we can think of with out any success or encouragement. It's as if no one is listening or cares - so we wait. The good news for you is that you are further along than I am and hopefully will hear something before the end of the year. Apparently, the embassy in Accra is busy with lottery visa interviews that must be completed by the end of September. I guess things will start to happen after that point. We just need everyone to keep their time-lines up to date so that we can understand what is happening.

My prayers go out for you and the rest of us who are waiting in the love line - well, I'm not quite in it yet. I'm still in the hallway waiting for a number. rPeace.

Lori, I have been waiting since December 2, 2009 and still no inteview. I believe there are people who have been waiting since October last year and haven't had an interview yet. Base on the situation on the ground, we should expect an interview in the early part of next year. In fact, this is most painful experience I have ever had in my entire life but the Lord said we count it all joy so I will make the best out of this situation.

  2. For your type of VISA- right now there is no answer- there are many forums about the wait- and no answer....

    Sorry.

I'm refering to people who have just received an appointment after waitng for a longer period. I understand they schedule 1 interview per month for Cr1 applicant. I wanted to know how long it took them to have an interview?

  3. The hard part is not everyone here usually responds......and not eveyone that has applied and waiting in on this site........so still will be so hard to figure out really how long the lists really are......

Sorry to everyone who is waiting and has been for such a long time.......I will be waiting behind most of you anyway........

God Bless and My Prayers are with you all.

Lori, I've been waiting since December, 2009. I know someone who has been waiting since September 2009...

  4. As we experience difficulties in securing interview for our love ones at Ghana embassy, I will edge all of us to claim the above promise made by God. He is the one who can make a way where there seem to be no way. At this point we have exhausted all possible avenues to get prescription to “issue(s)” at the consulate. All our effort doesn’t seem to have any impact and is time for us to bring our petition to a God who has power over every authority... I will continue to keep all of you in my prayers and I know very soon we will witness a breakthrough. Amen!

  5. I dont know- it seems strange and is just aggrivating! We just have to ride this out unfortuatly.Every one we write to just tells us there is delay but arnt doing anything. There is no reason for any of this- other embassys in less devoloped countries function better then Ghana! I hope this doesnt delay all of us- visitor visas can wait in my opinion- i know it sounds bad- but they can apply and have it in less then a few months- we have all been waiting Months and years!

I believe is the leadership that causing this unfortunate situation at the embassy. Since his appointment in 2008 by former President Bush things has never been smooth at the consulate. He there to fight corruption not to streamline relationship. We are paying for what they believe is wrong in Ghana. I'm American citizen and I strongly believe it's sheer injustice for me to be held accountable for someone's wrong deeds..This is really getting scarely but GOD can make a way where there seem to be no way...

  6. I spoke to a representative from the state department and he reiterated that the US Embassy in Ghana has suspended interview on immigrant petition to clear backlog. According to my conversation with the consulate, interviews are still being conducted. I just checked the timeline for the consulate and there is no any upcoming interview for immigrant visa. Could someone please clear this for me? Oh my Lord, please have mercy on us!!!

  7. I don't see how this can be true. An embassy cannot overide US law. If the petitioner is a USC and all criteria are met, an embassy cannot decide they have reached their quota of spouse-based visas.

Now, what may be true is that the embassy is understaffed and physically they can only have so many interviews a day. I don't know if that's the case here, but if you haven't heard anything since being approved in December, your wife should probably contact someone. It might be time to get her senator involved.

They claim they have limited capacity but have the capacity to take interview for non-immigrant. This beat my imigination. All applicants should have fair treatment. Some resources needs to be channel to cr1 applicants also...

  8. Would you be willing to post something on our facebook page (edit your personal information) so that people can see that we are being heard?

I forwarded the letter we suggested to the consulate a couple of days ago. I think that is the letter they are refering to...

  9. We are suggesting that we expand our writing campaign to include the US Ambassador of Ghana and Ghana's Ambassador to the US. Our families and friends in Ghana are needed in this writing campaign. It might be very effective for them, along with the US citizens, to write to the two Ambassadors. Information about both Ambassadors are included on the links below. Any thoughts on this idea?

US Ambassador to Ghana Bio (The Honorable Donald Teitelbaum) http://www.state.gov/r/pa/ei/biog/107800.htm

Ghana Ambassador to US info (His Excellency Daniel Ohene Agyekum)http://www.ghanaembassy.org/

Do you actually have thier contact information?

  10. As part of our effort to raise the awareness of backlogged with visa interview, a concerned group comprising of myself have set-up a page on facebook to circulate this awareness. I encourage everyone of you to join so that together we can reform policy at the consulate.

Go onto face book and search for: American Embassy in Ghana: Help Unite

    families, not break them apart.

  11. Ghanagal - you are hilarious! Haven't given much thought to a name - open for discussions and ideas. I spoke with my husband this morning about the idea and he is so on board. I think that makes 4 of us - you, me, Hebronzy, and I think my girl Midge.mij will want to be involved. I will see you each a personal email later today. When we get this going, we can post our efforts on vj. Any more volunteers? Or any ideas for the volunteers?

I contacted my 2 US senators in my state office and I've placed a call to DOS. All these authorities doesn't see anything wrong with the consulate. It seems the DOS has empowered the consulate to operate the way they see fit and they don't want to meddle in their affairs. In view of this, how are we going to approach this if the authorities themselve support this policy at the consulate? - open for discussion and ideas..

  12. The major reason for this huge backlogged is the multiple interview conducted on different time for one case at the consulate. This doesn’t pave the way for other completed cases to be schedule for an interview because visa applicants are being asked to appear for an interview on several occasions. I totally don’t understand the rational behind this bizarre policy at the consulate. Honestly, most of the issues that triggered this “million time interview” can be resolve at the initial interview. I believe is time for us to step-up and question this kind of policy. The consulate doesn’t feel the pain we are going through so is time for us to raise the awareness to the appropraite authorities. It's soo frustrating and devastating to deal with the consulate. I called the consulate last week and some ananymous person hang-up the phone on me. They are totally swamp and if we don't do anything about this we waiting for years for an appointment.

  13. I strongly support this initiative. The major reason for this huge backlogged is the multiple interview conducted on different time for one case at the consulate. This doesn’t pave the way for other completed cases to be schedule for an interview because visa applicants are being asked to appear for an interview on several occasions. It's sooo frustrating and devastating to deal with Accra consulate. They created this mess...

  14. Hi Dear,

There is absolutely nothing you can to expediate the process. I'm also in the same boat. I've contacted NVC on several occasions and I kept receiving the same "old song" respond. A case that was completed in September 30,2009 is still pending for an interview at the consulate. The only option we have at this point is get the authorities(congressman or senators)involve. I'm sooo devastated and frustrated about this bizzare policy at the consulate. I think we need to fight for a reform at the consulate..

  15. Well...mine was completed in November, 2009...still waiting for interview date...! It's very frustrating, especially considering the rest of the world. Those whose case were completed at the same time with us are probably in their 4-6th month in the States!

    Let's pray!

Hi Dear, I really appreciate your respond. Anyway, do you have any idea why this long wait? Have you contact any authority regarding this bizzare issue at the consulate?
