  1. Hey everyone, quick question regarding fiancé's entering the USA on a K1 visa from the UK and driving licenses!

My fiance has been granted his K1 and is planning to come to the USA shortly :P , he does not currently drive in the UK nor has a drivers license.

We are planning on living in Colorado and I would like to know from other VJ's about how they went about getting drivers licenses/instructional permits from the DMV here.

Do you just need his passport and stamp/I-94?

Does the DMV only issue a instructional permit for the limit of the K1 ie-90 days as he needs to pass his test first? what happens after this, do we have to wait until the AOS has been granted and he gets his I-551 stamp before he can drive again?

I know this varies from state to state so anyone from CO out there let me know.

    Many thanks!!! :D

  2. Hey guys........a bit of a dilemma here......my fiance (the UKC) is having his K-1 interview next week, which is awesome! The not so awesome part: I just got laid off today............ :crying:

So my questions are: Would my co-sponsor have to provide pay stubs in addition to the usual documents for the I-134?? I made enough on my own to support my fiance, but now with this layoff, obviously now I have to show otherwise..........

My second question is--does my co-sponsor have to show that they can support the both of us or just my UKC fiance??

Thanks for all of your help and timely advice! It is much appreciated......

  3. Hi all,

I have a question or two---and it's probably on here, but I can't seem to find it.....I called the DOS today and they said that they've received the electronic copy of our file (we're filing for a K-1 visa) at the Embassy (London)......so does anybody know what that means? How long will it be until they receive the hard copy? And how long after that will they send out Packet 3 to the beneficiary??

Thanks in advance for all your help!!

    :star:

  4. I would give it a couple more days...I ordered 3 transcripts in October, and for some reason only got one of the three that I had requested. So I called the IRS again last week and requested the ones that I needed again and just got them in the mail today.

If I were you, I'd wait until next week before requesting them again or calling customer service....

  5. Hello All, my fiance and I just received notice that our petition has been approved for the K-1 visa!

But now this leads to a whole host of a million questions regarding the post NOA2 steps....which somehow seems more confusing than the initial petition process!

    Two questions:

    1) Is there anywhere on VJ that lists the step by step process from NOA2 approval to interview? I'm confused as to where we go from here and how.....like when my fiance can schedule his medical appointment or when we can start gathering documents such as my employment letter, etc etc.....I don't even know how long it takes to go from NOA2 approval to an interview? Days? Weeks?

    2) I am also trying to clear up the whole discrepency regarding Question 11 on the I-134 for London Embassy filers---what do we put on there exactly?

Again thanks so much for helping me find my way in this great sea of confusion! My head won't stop spinning with all of the things my fiance and I need to get done before we get that visa in hand! B)

Regarding question 2, I put "I intend" and then wrote, "All funds and accommodation needed for the duration of his stay". We just passed our interview on Oct 21.

Regarding question 1, highly suggest the Guides area at the top. It has everything post NOA2 you need. Have your fiance start filling out this paperwork: http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/iv/iv_15.html and requesting his police check. Get your i-134 and supporting documentation to him as soon as possible.

If you filed in California, you can start calling the National Visa Center in 10 days to see what the status of your petition is. 603-334-0700 Hit the prompts to speak to an operator. The automated system doesn't work for K1 applications.

After your petition transits to your embassy, then you can call the Dept of State for status. Once they say "the embassy has sent the P3 packet to your fiance", then you can start sending in the DOS forms you need (check the guides for them) and schedule the medical.

This forum is probably your next stop from here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;#entry3437903

Good luck! Hope that helps some. It's a lot to summarise all in one spot. :)

By the way, the length of the journey varies. Ours lasted 7 months from sending our i129F packet until POE, which will be in 4 days. :)

Just wanted to say thank you to all of those who responded to my query for all of your timely advice!

Ian and Lisa--I'm so happy for you that your POE is coming up so soon! I hope that my fiance and I's will be sooner rather than later....but we here at VJ all know what the waiting game is like......

  7. Hello All! I've been reading this website for quite some time and it has been sooo invaluable to my fiance and I! We just received our NOA2 today, and are now in the process of compiling things for Packet 3.

My question is regarding the I-134 affidavit of support: I (the USC) make $22,800 a year.......is that enough to declare that I can support my fiance financially without having to get a co-sponsor? I can't seem to find the specific dollar amounts anywhere......

Also, I know I have to get the last 3 year's tax transcripts for my fiance to bring to the interview in addition to the above, but if I didn't make anywhere near that amount (I only worked for 3 months here in the US the whole of last year) will that mean anything? All that matters is that I prove that I have a job currently and make the aforementioned amount, correct?

Thanks in advance for your advice on this!
