  1. Hello, I was unaware that my fiance could apply for a temporary Tax ID / SSN once she entered on a K-1 visa. Currently we have submitted the request for the adjustment of status, have completed biometrics and are awaiting the interview. Is a temporary SSN required for the interview? It seems to be for opening a joint bank account. Will this hurt us in the interview if we don't have a joint bank account? Can we still apply for the SSN and receive it in time? We are past the expiration for the K-1 and have been waiting for the interview ~ 3 weeks. Thanks

  2. Hello all, my wife is here on a K-1 visa and we will be adjusting her status shortly. How much time will it save (on average) if I get her a temporary work permit vs. wait until the K-1 is processed / status adjusted for her to work? Are you typically able to work as soon as your status is adjusted? Also, is there any documentation on attending college while adjusting your status on a K-1 visa? Thanks,

  3. Hey guys, thank you for all your past help and suggestions. We have successfully acquired the K-1 visa (my fiancee is from Colombia). In order for her to pass onto the airplane and past customs and immigration in the U.S., all she needs is the K-1 visa packet, her passport, and medical records? Is this correct?

Also, in regards to the marriage certificate, do you know how difficult it is to obtain this (ie for marrying in Ohio)? Is it more of a hassle with the K-1? Are there any web resources for this? Thank you for all your invaluable help and advice.

  4. Hi all, thank you for helping me out with the visa process; this site has been very informative. Anyway, for the I-134, I'm a U.S. citizen by birth, so do I have to include any sort of statement with the I-134, or will the photo-copied passport I included with the I-129F be sufficient? Also, for evidence, I'm including a print out of the web display of my scottrade account (which includes my name and total account value, >$7,000) And also a statement from my employer listing title, status, salary, date of hire, etc. But for the evidence, it says to include "in duplicate". Does this mean the original and a photo-copy is acceptable, or do they both have to be originals (i.e., two signed original statements from my employer)? Also, my dad will be co-sponsoring for the I-134, and he will include a statement from his employer and a statement from his bank. Does this sound like sufficient evidence? Thanks,

  5. Hey all, I received approval notice for my petition a few weeks ago. But I have a question - it says on the NOA that it is valid from 11/17/2009 to 3/17/2009. My fiancee and I are gathering the required forms and documents so that she can send in the petition for her visa (DSP) and get an interview date. What would happen if the interview date is past the approval notice expiration? Is that OK or do we have to file again or something? Thankyou,

    -Andrew

  6. My dad will be co-sponsoring for the 134 as I am just graduating in a couple of weeks with a Masters. In addition to filling out the I-134, should he just include:

-the statement from his bank regarding date account opened, total amount deposited this year, present balance

-statement from employer stating date and nature of employment; salary; temporary or permanent

-serial numbers, denominations of bonds, statements of owners.

Also, is it necessary to include all 3? And do I have to give my current student employment and bank records also? Thanks,

    -Andrew

  7. I'm ready to submit my I-129F package, however the address I listed in the I-129F (my present address in the University dorms) will change within the next 6 months. Do you recommend I change this address in the I-129F forms to, say, my parents address? Or perhaps just give the USCIS a call when my address changes to notify them of my new address? Thanks,

    -Andrew

  8. Hey guys and gals, I'm filling out my G-325A, and it says list employment for the last 5 years. Well for the last 5 years I've been a student so I've had various (4) jobs. Should I list them all (+ address) on 2 G-325A forms? And then do I make 4 copies of each of these? Thanks,

    -Andrew

  9. Hello, I plan to use my passport as evidence of U.S. citizenship. However, for question 10 on the I-129F, it requires to "Give number of certificate, date and place it was issued." in regards to the birth certificate. Is the birth certificate number and place of issue required or should I write in the passport # or just leave that field blank? Also, "14. Address in the United States where your fiancé(e) intends to live." Right now I'm going to school and living in the dorms (graduate school). However, I will be finished and December and should have a job. Should I write in my parents address or?....

Thanks all of you for your help, you've been great!

  10. Hello everybody, thanks for all your help with bringing my Colombian fiancée over to the states. I have a question. My fiancée would like to get married with her family and friends. Is this possible with a K-1 visa? Would it be possible to bring her immediate family over for the marriage, or have a second marriage in Colombia later on? How did people here handle this problem? Thankyou,

    -Andrew
