  1. My husband is currently applying for I30 for both me and son. We are at the point where we had to submit the Affidavit of Support. Sadly my husband got retrenched and didn't get a job until much later. Now we realise that my son's visa application to submit the affidavit of support might have expired. Is there a deadline for it? And if there is, how should we go about to extend it if there is any way to do it?

Please help! We have been doing this for more than a year and badly need to proceed with it.

  2. This is a very common question. The answer is: admittance and duration of stay is up to the border guard at the time of crossing. There is certainly nothing wrong with visiting while this process is going on. However, some guards may assume you have immigrant intent. The best thing to do is carry strong ties to your home country to prove that you will return - also a copy of the visa packet to show is always good

    Good luck

Thank you so much for your reply. What things can I use to show "strong ties with home country"? I am currently a stay home mom and in the process of selling my house, thus I have no prove of employment or house ownership by the time I decide to travel to US. What other things can I bring in order to prove I am not intending to overstay my tourist visa?

  3. My husband is a US citizen. He is applying for I30 immigrant visa for me and my son. Currently, our visa is at the step where my husband have to submit an affidavit of support. Sadly, he was retrenched and nobody is willing to be our guarantor. While waiting for my husband to get another job so we can proceed with the visa, can I enter US and stay for 3 months on tourist visa?

  4. My husband is a US citizen and we were married in Singapore in July 2008 in Singapore. We submitted our I-130 forms on Jul 30 & received NOA receipt on Aug 5. Up until today, the status is still showing as initial review.

Our question is, is there anything we need to do or have to do while we sit here and wait for the I-130 approval?

We do appreciate all sincere answers as we badly want to be back together again.

Thank you in advance for all answers.
