  1. DS-2001? I don't recall ever filling out such a form when going through the K1 process. Why did you fill this out?

DS-2001 is the sheet you must send to embassy notifying them that you are ready for them to schedule interview. its how you get the embassy to start sending you the interview appointment

  2. Question for experts on this thread:

I just went to buy tickets for myself and my wife and stepdaughter to go to Thailand for Songkran 2010. My wife just got a new credit card with 0% interest we used to purchase the tickets. Problem is, we purchased my wifes ticket in her married name and it is her maiden name showing on her passport - so the name on the tickkets and on the passport does not match. It seems to me that I read and or was told that as long as you have a certified copy of your marriage certificate attached to the passport we'll be OK - can anyone advise me about this based on "actual experience" rather than conjecture?

    Thanks!

I was previously a Customer Service Manager for a major US Airline and it has to match your passport if its an international flight. the marriage certificate copy can be used if its a domestic flight. You would be taking more chance especially on the return flight to US due to increased security regulations. It can go as far as when missing out the middle name that was on the passport.

So I would suggest you always use what is on the current passport you are using if it is international, but if the airline has mentioned the certificate then now its up to the airport staff and TSA to honor it.

  3. Well this week my fiancee lost her phone while eating dinner at Kao San Road awww so does that make all my saved phone logs invalid now? she has to get a new number now. She can just explain to the officer at embassy that phone was lost? her original number is on the I-129F and bio forms. and I will end up having to put the new cell number in her packet 3 items when they come.

    anything I should worry about?

  4. Well I was previously in Aircraft maintenance (yes I had an aviation management bachelors prior to that) at the time we were getting married and bringing her to US, she boasted to her family and friends that I was an Engineer and made lots of money (no idea where she was getting this, I was not sending her money and I made it straightforward that I had debt, she didnt or must have not known what debt was???). And things went downhill when she realized none of this was true and she had to work, she was dreaming of a BMW and all kinds of luxuries and very dissappointed that it was not a reality. Well we became incompatible anyway and divorced. (real reason was she was extremely violent with everyone around her in the US including her coworkers and me) Even the police had to come to get her off of me. She had 30 days to leave the country after divorce, but I guess she stayed because it seems she is some accountant for the state government 4 years later and still retains my last name :D I never got anything back from immigration and I had never filed for AOS when she came on her K3, you have 2 years to do it, but it was over in 1 year so I never bothered and did nothing else since we divorced 1 year from entry and rule was 30 days to leave US. But yes my case is very rare and isolated.

  5. Yeah but I happend to go to QBar before, one of my ex gf took me there just for drinks but we both felt it was overpriced and atleast I was lucky to transfer my drink coupons to appetizer coupons, no need for extra drink. But there seems to be a reasonable priced hotel accross the street, Le Fenix. Well I would only pay 15 dollars a night with my airline employee discount, so I often stayed at Le Fenix even I had to go often to Pakkret or other areas of BKK to hangout with my friends. Most of my discounts often were closer to the downtown, yet most of my social life was in the suburbs. but I would also stay with my ex gf at her apartment too.

There are good girls and bad girls everywhere in the world. But I would say I had more joys, pains, and happiness with Thai girls than here in the US :)

My friends would take me to discos like CM2 (so so) RCA Flix (I liked it cause I could go in free) etc... and some nice dinner places like BSC. Never got chance to check Santika before it burned down.

  6. I meant all my experiences were in Thailand thats all. my ex gf and my ex wife and my fiancee all from Thailand. everyone is different, I just put the thailand part as to geographically where it was all happening.

My fiancees father is not so sure of me and he is also a police officer, yet her mom is okay with me.

Umm I have never been to a bar or some redlight place in thailand anyway for all those 40 times I have been in Thailand, maybe occasionally my girl and friends would take me to the disco, my exwife was a graduate from Thammasat University, my ex gfs came from Ramkhamhaeng University, Rangsit University, Silipakorn University, Khon Kaen University, Chiang Mai University, Maejo, University, ABAC etc.

And I hold 2 degrees as well.

  7. I freaked my Fiancee out this week :D She has a Thai license and she can drive trucks and cars in Thailand, but she was very concerned when I told her our car is automatic :D She has never drove an automatic and thought it sounded difficult. She is used to driving manual transmission Isuzu and Nissan pick up trucks. :D

Hell I am not getting her a manual transmission car here, traffic is bad enough and I have not drove a manual in over 10 years and dont feel like going back unless I get an Audi with tiptronic or something :D we can be even. But I am not interested in the Audi unless they bring the A4 TDI Quattro version over.

But my plan is to hand down my current car which is 9 years old to her and let her get used to driving and I wont have to worry much about resale value.

  8. Those bicycle style scooters are technically underbone Motorbikes (not scooters)

There however is a Sym Cub which is cheap and already here and its Taiwanese (SYM is very reputable brand second to Kymco ) fits the similiar 100-150cc range of the Thai underbone motorbikes. A lot of people love it already, since its retro look. can drive it anywhere except a Freeway

    http://www.wired.com/autopia/2009/04/worlds-most-pop/

  9. And despite years of riding a motorbike around Thailand, she just can't seem to get the hang of driving the car. It isn't helped by the fact she's 4'10".

Get her an Aprilia Mana 850. Its a great commuter bike. I use to have one and it has an 839cc along with a CVT transmission. great ride, oh wait a little too high for 4'10"

unless you get the short spring mod to enable lower seat height. :D along with some thick heel riding boots.

she has motorbike experience so she should be fine using a motorcycle for the meantime. and great weather for riding

  10. Well, if any Thai wife does want to meet other Thai women to ease the homesickness (at the very least), then usvisa4thai.com is a good place to do that. FYI

    Sounds okay

Speaking of Thai restaurants :) my ex-wife worked in 4-7 Las Vegas Thai restaurants here and none would truly pass health inspections. So thats a reason why I rarely eat Thai in the US.

If I have no choice Ill suck it up and go to a Lao restaurant for a more Thai street food feel in a hole in the wall despite the stuff that goes on in the kitchen.

  11. I think that's really nice being able to meet some Thai friends. My teerak has no Thai friends. She was told over and over not to make friends once she comes (she said even the TV had warnings?). anyway, she wants a Thai friend...had to go to a restaurant just so she could speak Thai.

I just asked my wife about this. What specifically was she told and what did she see on TV? Kat couldn't recall hearing or seeing anything like this. I'm curious.

Well you have to be very careful of Thai communities in the US especially when she is married to a American. There is a lot of nasty gossip that starts developing in the Thai communities if your spouse decides to mingle with a larger group of Thais, especially those who are "illegal" and those whom found other ways into the US than a US citizen.

The last thing you need is dropping your wife off to apply for work at a Thai restaurant, the can of worms is opened.

  12. Well generally speaking a disabled farang is a NO NO in the eyes of most conservative Thai families, of all my ex-gf or those whose parents I met in Thailand, never found any parents satisfied with me, it was a deal breaker for the girl in the past and she felt she had to go with her parents opinion after meeting. I have had other dramas where the Mother of the girl forced her to pay me back for a family trip I took with them after her Mom and I found out that her daughter had a Thai bf on the side. It was nice of her Mom feeling that her daughter treated me wrong.

I rarely had any experience with Thai fathers because almost all my ex-gf come from broken families, the Dad ran away in most cases

My ex-wife was a special case, the parents were so glad to get her off their hands (no sinsot or wedding). and I realized later that I opened up a pandoras box. :D

Yes this is all about Thailand

  13. Well another catch is Her Mom agrees, her Dad does not.

This also is a good way to avoid sinsot :) she agrees too. just get to do whatever she wants and come be with me by skipping sinsot and avoiding family.

    She is 28 already though.

Well my current job does not allow me to go back like I use to. so I am stuck here in the US unless I wait for my new vacation week to accrue

but that would probably come around the time of her interview.

She would have to 100% quit her job sadly to get me a family visit. She works 7 days a week and on call always, cannot leave the city.

Well she may quit when the interview appointment is scheduled so she can get time to do medical and other things, but she wants to wait till then.

I know its bad that the embassy suggests you not do anything till you have a visa 100%. but her work is preventing her from being able to get a police report, medical, etc.

Calling in sick wont fly too well, she gets reprimanded for that.

And no she does not agree with me sending money to support her as if she has no job, the economy is so bad she wants to keep her job as long as she can till she is 100% certain.

  14. Uh oh...... well I might be in same boat, I have an I-129F sent out, but I just put in copy of my final divorce decree.... (no seals at all) I was divorced in Clark County, Nevada (Las Vegas). did my divorce without lawyer and everything myself. the divorce decree came from a do it yourself kit in the format the county wants, no seals what so ever, Judge just has stamped printed signature on it when it was approved. Pretty cheesy.....

I guess I might be SOL in this situation. I live in CA now and even though I worried more about the decree being more legit at the interview process, so I played to be safe and contacted family court and they instructed me to send a request letter in and a check payable for 1 dollar per page and 3 dollars for certification. so I sent 20 dollars to try to cover two certified copies of my divorce decree (3 pages) I sure hope the certification is some sort of government seal. So I am awating my two certified copies of my divorce decree, and I have NOA1 now, I sure hope maybe I can go without any RFE. all depends on who is the reviewer?

  15. I have been trying to compile my cell phone records, I have printed out my bills up to May, can only go that far, do you think they need years and years of cell phone data?

I have the incoming and outgoing text message records up to May and now am printing each bill I get toward the interview which shows times and messages sent/received.

no voice calls anyway cause I am deaf.

We rarely email each other, (she really doesnt email) and cause she is online everyday and we chat on MSN and use webcam once in a while, but my MSN does not archive chats. I am using windows live messenger unofficially on XP 64bit. I had to modify the program to get it working.

the only thing I am doing is taking desktop screenshots of our video calls.

So the following evidence I most likely will have is just

    PHOTOS TOGETHER

    MSN VIDEO CHAT SCREEN SHOTS

CELL PHONE BILLS that SHOW THE TEXT LOGS since May

SHE WILL HAVE MY PASSPORTS ON HAND

    Will this be enough?

  16. Just wanted to say hi.... We just got our NOA1 and we are really psyched for the long wait.....i mean journey ahead of us. Hope we can learn tonnes from everyone, so thanks to all in advance.

    Joe/Nok

I didnt get my NOA1 yet, but I did see that my check was cashed on the 12th and a WAC number was on the back. (they scan checks now) so I can view online.

I am more psyched out about very few photos together and never met her family despite we have met a lot in Bangkok (her parents live in the provinces) That should be an ok excuse? no time to go to provinces? :P

Well when we get interview, I will book a trip back to see her that week and try to rush some new photos, maybe a few studio shots as well, and regular ones and print them out in time for

the interview plus have her take my passports and I-134 junk

my I-134 is already complete with tax returns back to 2006 and all W2s as well as employee letter, but have to put in the more recent pay checks around that time.

  17. Well obviously just proof of visit to Thailand, this is a fiancee though its not like they expect me to be living with my fiancee though. I just will sit tight

Does anyone know of the updated packet 3 forms you can download? I heard somewhere that the ones on the BKK embassy site are outdated, and heard that some couple actually has a site that shows the more updated forms, so I can make rough drafts early but I can find a link yet.

  18. Part of US Embassy Security Services, they outsource everything including the armed security to a security firm (the marines are part of the true embassy security) but the ones on the roadway, the visa services, the post office, and the other offices accross from the real embassy are outsourced. I think last contract was with SECURICOR. the scanners are just to look for suspicious people who might be standing too long around the embassy and they just document records. Its common stuff that security would conduct as an extra measure

  19. Well I guess I will go that way, dont mind if I cant be in building, but gee its gonna be a bit hard being too close to Wireless road (the scanners, they are plain cloth Thai people that are around 20-30 years old they go snapping photos of you and everything and report back to the compound) :D

But I will bring along my new passport (only has one stamp and was received this february) and my old passport from 2000-2008 which has ahem.... 41 stamps to Thailand :D

  20. Hello All, I just sent out an I-129F :) for my fiancee from Thailand.

This is my 2nd visa journey. I did one before for my ex-wife from Thailand as well, back in 2002 with a K3 and that was perhaps the fastest K3 I bet, I-129F approved in just 2 weeks from mailing it out, then I-130 approved in 3 months after mailing back with approved I-129F but those speedy days are gone. and by the way we divorced completely in 2003 and it was a bad relationship.

this is my first time to do a true K1 visa and it looks more complicated now.

and I guess I needed no evidence since I was married before with the old I-129F, but this time I need relationship proof since its a fianceee this time. I am deaf and I dont use the phone with her, we only chat on MSN and none of the chats are saved and pretty much lost (I constantly have reinstalled my OS a lot and do upgrades) but I take a few screen window snapshots, and we met in person many times, unfortunately the first two times, the photos were lost on my old drive when I lost an Array, and it left me with only 2 photos from my most recent trip in June. and I sent those with the I-129F along with plane ticket copies. oh great I have no idea if thats gonna fly.

Some have well last time I was allowed at the VISA window with my ex-wife for the spouse visa K3 and some say they can call up the USC to the window with I-134 etc during the interview.? Do they still allow that.

I am planning to fly out again once she has a set interview date and go with her to the embassy. Well it would be good proof since they would see me physically and know I dragged myself to Thailand again for her.
