  1. hi guys

i want to know how much i need to show ti sponsor my parents to canada from pakistan and how long it will take?

after applying for them would they be able to visit me as they usually spend 6 months with me every year?

    other thing is

as visit visa say "cannot stay more than six months after which they come to usa to my brother (as weare their only kids and dont want them to be alone back home)

i want to know this 6 month restriction is for usa and canada separately or this restriction is for north america.i mean they can live only for 6 months either in canada or usa and after that they have to leave north america? is this true?

  2. It wouldn't let me edit the above post but I also wanted to say:

I think that you are hoping the officer willl forget about it and not ask you again for your Husband's Canadian tax returns? Did he give you a sheet of paper asking you for certain items to be sent to him?

None of us has a crystal ball, so you will just have to wait and see - if they approve you fine, if they send the request back for further information, I again, strongly suggest you contact a good immigration attorney.

Sending back only part of the information he requested may just leave you sitting and waiting. He may not even respond, just wait for you to send the tax returns.

yes trailmix thats what i am hoping ans praying. on the sheet of paper he requested for us/canadian taxes ,so i sent him us taxes. he explained to me everything that he just need some proof that we will move there he asked me if i have atleast one proof i said no but just applied for apartment he said to send him proper lease.

i was so upset at that time then he said its ok if he is here i have checked everything. and there is nothing wrong with this case just proof of domicile which u should have bring with yourself and now u can send it here.

he held our passports and we sent him everything and acc to heet and his call about taxes he said again us/canadian taxes so sent them us taxes.

do you think i shuold send them can taxes now?

  3. Okay, without getting ad hominem here (it's Christmas, after all), I really don't think you deserve to be helped. Not lying at all is a good LIFE rule, but it's an essential immigration rule. Why in the world would you have lied about him working in Canada? The whole concept of LEGAL immigration is based upon honesty and transparency at every step. Since you've clearly breached that at a very early stage, I don't think you're going to get much sympathy from folks on VisaJourney.

So yes, Trailmix is right. I think your only recourse at this juncture is an immigration attorney. But even if he/she DOES get you out of this situation, it doesn't mean that you deserve legal immigration.

That's my (admittedly strong) opinion. YMMV.

i am not here to get sympathy i needed an advice. and i did lie coz i got confused and scared at that time. i was not clear at that time what should i say. is it a serious thing to work here or not? nothing else. we have gone through alot and didnot want to ruin everything. this is our problem that if someone of us get a GREEN CARD we think we are the only deserve and the other person is not. people makes mistakes but that doesn't mean they dont deserve anything.

leave it on officer what i deserve and merry christmas.

thanks for your opinion but i wanted advice.

  4. Just want to add:

Even if you don't want to discuss this further here, if what I have said above is true and you were not completely honest with the officer - I would strongly suggest that you go and speak with a good immigration attorney, one well versed in U.S. immigration law, to see how you should proceed.

yes just because i said he is not working in canada when he is. and he said if you are not lying show/send me his(my husband's) canadian taxes.he has asked for them twice but i didnot send him taxes. except that i have send him everything lease copy, employer letter everything.now waiting for his answer but scared if he will again ask for taxes what should i do?

i know he can sponsor me as he frequently visits there just could not wrok as if we need him anytime he can come he lost his 2 jobs in usa just because of our problems (health related). after that he didnot applied for job there. when he cam here still he had a rental place there and he paid rent without living there.canadain jobs are so unreliable after a year he left the 1 bedroom apt in usa and completely shifted here until we get visa but he visited often(sometimes once a month or twice a month for shopping sometimes for paying bills or taxes etc etc. he has never been interested in living here but because of us he came to wait with us for visa. but we dont know how to show intention that we have suffered alot here and want to move asap.

  5. hi there!

my husband was a permanent resident in usa and canada. he got canadian residency before usa but came a couple of times after that and lived and worked in usa. when we got married he sponsored me from usa and as canadian sponsorship is much quick so he applied from canada as well so we can live atleast close to eachother and he can visit here more often.i had an infant at that time.

just after 4 months of my arrival we were informed that i have severe complications in pregnancy and he left everything in usa and came here to live with me and support me. that was a tough time for both of us.i had doctors appointments weekly ultrasound appts and i was hospitalized a couple of times.my husband helped me and took care of my older child as well as mine during my second pregnancy. after birth of my child he got operated and now he has hospital foolow up appointments.

as we were getting short in money he looked for job but could not get one, after a year or so he got a cashier job but we were happy that atleast we would be able to save hat he had in usa accounts.

my case was approved in sept 2008 but we recieved the packages etc their mails after 6 months. then last year my husband became us citizen. my interview was in sept 2009 in montreal. he asked me some questions and then he said that he believes my husband has been living with me so i need proof of domicilehe asked me how i got here i told him my husband is a PR here. he asked if he is working here and i was so scared i replied no. he said he want me to show him his canadian taxes. he aid its up to us hether we want to declare his presence in canada if we want to declare thats ok hust send them proof that we are intended to move there if we dont want to declare again thats fine just send them proof that he was there anything from doctors appointments, bills etc anything.

i came back sent whatever we had as my husband visits there even for shopping. but they are asking taxes for the yrs in which he was here and working here thats shown in his taxes and we are reluctant to sent them canadian taxese have sent them info that he has applied for an apartment, car insurance, driving license, voters registration, shopping slips etc etc but no can taxes.

after 5 weeks of these proof i got their call that they want proper lease papers and employment letter if there is and again canadian taxes and citizenship proof.

we sent them lease papers, letter that shows he will work in 3 weeks, his citizenship proof but again we didnot send them taxes. now we are worried if they again asked for taxes what should we do, either to send them taxes with explanations of his reasons staying here with us or ...... please advice u guys are very experienced and know each and everything.

  6. hi to all!

    1. my mother came here in canada on visit visa from pakistan. she had 1 year visa on her passport march 2007-mar2008).she lived here for 8 months then went to usa (got visa so went for shopping) then again came back here in canada in . on P.O.E ( they came by road) she was told that visa was for 1 year but at the p.o.e she was authorized to live here for 6 months. she didnot know that none of us do , as they dont have any kind of I-94 on the passport. we checked the passport we couldnot find anything saying she has to spend 6 months and then to reapply for extension of her stay. the officer said its a rule u have to satay not more than 6 months.we said we didnot know. we told him that she is going back to her country in feb . so the officer said if she is really going back then its ok and let her enter. she went back as scheduled.

now i am pregnant and need her to assist me in child care she is in usa with my brother. i am worrying if she apply for visa she might be rejected on the reason of overstay. please if anyone knows anything in this regard let me know. there is a question in application form that have u stayed more than 6 months in any country. please help .

    2. my father is applying from pakistan again in this question that (in past 5 years have u or member accompanying u has lived in any country for more than 6 months except the country of citizenship please mention) what should he write in that as he himself has never lived in any country for more than 6 months and my mother is not accompanying her as she is in usa. does he have to write "no". if he puts NO and later on they say he has lied as my mother has stayed for 6 months. please help

  7. hi to all vj members

my interview is on monday in montreal and i am very nervous plz pray for me.

other thing is that i forgot to take a copy of my husband's 2008 tax return. my husband had submitted one with his aos but i don't have it. i dont know what will happen. please pray for me.

He already submitted it to NVC with his Affidavit of Support? If so, they will have it at the interview. Everything you have sent to date will be at the consulate now. Not sure where you read that you need to take another copy?

By all means if it makes you feel better you can take an additional copy, but it's really not necessary.

that was in the interview letter to bring a copy of recent tax return.

to all others my husband is with me.by mistake i took 2005 tax return now regretting .just praying they don't ask for it.

  8. So I'm a total forum leech who asks a million questions and everyone is always so helpful so here's my turn to try to make myself useful. I had my medical done at the Woking Clinic in Vancouver today so I'm going to whip up a quick review of how it all went...

I arrived at the clinic about 10 minutes "early" at 6:20 and was told to grab a number and have a seat and wait. There were 18 people that had arrived before me (I know because I was number 19 ^.^) And I scanned but didn't recognize anyone from VJ. Anyhow.. at exactly 6:30 one of the extremely friendly nurses at the front desk had us all line up in numerical order and handed us each a consent form and a medical history sheet to fill out. Upon turning them in, they collected our documents and verified birthdays and case numbers. Then we were sent into another area of the building to get our bloodwork done. They were calling in 2 or 3 people at a time - also in numerical order- and I was called in around 7:05. The lab techs were also friendly and efficient and they open the clinic early on Wednesdays just for us immigration people. After I had my blood taken, I went back to the main waiting room in front of the clinic and waited for my number to be called to have my chest xray done. I didn't like this part one bit! We were asked to change into xray - smock type things that were very breezy and left your back exposed even when properly tied up. No one else seemed to mind but I didn't feel terribly comfortable standing in a lineup with my nips poking through the front of my smock (it was cold!). :o

Anyway, waited in line for that for about 5 minutes and had my xray done. Basically, you just go into a room with an xray tech, he asks you to put your chest against a screen, has you push your elbows forward and snaps the xray. Cake. Then back to the change room where my bra and tshirt and sweater were waiting for me!

I finished my xrays a little after 7:40 and was sent back to the main waiting room... to wait. And wait. I was called into the doctors office just a little past 9:40 and was given something akin to a bath towel sized napkin and told to undress down to my panties and wrap the paper sheet around me. I wasn't expecting this! I was thinking a little breathing with the stethoscope up my shirt, some Q&A and maybe a quick peek in my ears... I was wrong! So I'm all sitting in my undies, desperately holding the monster napkin around me and the Doc walks in with one of the female nurses. (I remember hearing that when a male doctor is examining a patient, a female nurse has to be present in the room but this is the first time I have been exposed to it) The doctor introduced himself (Bill? Bob? I forget) and was super friendly and made pleasant small talk through the whole awkward ordeal... making it a little less awkward. He asked me about my fiance and where we were going to be living, what I do for work, when was the wedding etc. The nurse (Lauren, I think?) was also really nice and chatty. As far as the exam goes, he did look in my ears and mouth, checked my neck, listened to my chest, asked me about some of my medical history and checked my stomach. Then it was done and I was told I could put my clothes back on and head back to the reception area.

The same nurse that was in the room during the physical exam weighed me and checked my height and also did a quick vision test.. and then that was it! I ended up leaving the office at exactly 11:00 am and was told to come back at 2 and pick up my results. (which were negative for all bad stuff, by the way  )

Overall, it really wasn't that bad. As I mentioned, the staff are all so great- they are personable and I really liked how they made an effort to address everyone by name. I don't know how they all manage to be so upbeat at 6:30 in the morning but I am glad they are because it really made the whole experience more comfortable for me.

a few tips: don't try to jump ahead of people in line. As I witnessed today, even if you do manage to sneak in and get your blood work or xray done before your number is called, you still end up waiting until the doctor calls you in and that's done numerically, based on the number you were given when you arrived. Nice Try.

There is a Blenz Coffee just outside the building and to the right - they provided me with a cheap breakfast this morning.

Have all your paperwork ready! They appreciate it and it prevents you from being sent back and losing your spot in line.

So that's it. I hope this helps someone, somewhere out there in VJ land. Thanks again to everyone who has been so patient with me and all my questions <3

    Next stop: Interview Sept 14th!

i had my medical on the same day and same place.my interview is on 21st so please also write what you gonna find there. wish u good luck
