  1. Interview scheduled for 8:30. Arrived 45 minutes early and was called after 10 minutes wait. Entire process took 15 minutes. Interviewer asked 4 questions and took our family pictures for his records.

    1) Are you in this country legally?

    2) Have you ever been deported from the US?

    3) Do you have any affiliation with a terrorist group?

    4) Have you ever committed murder?

Thank you - you are approved and will get your green card in 2 to 4 weeks.

We got to keep the rest of the 2 inch binder we had prepared.

Looking back it has been a long, confusing and frustrating journey. My advise is to exercise great self control, read everything very carefully and ask questions here even when they seem stupid.

    Good Luck Everyone

  2. Thanks in advance to all. We just got the NOA for our interview on 5 July in Tampa Florida and we have several questions/concerns. We submitted our AOS application in mid February and it seems to have taken an unusal journey from what we have read here. Or maybe we are just becoming cynical after all these months of uncertanity. The below explains it in order.

    1. 2/14/11 sent I-485 to Chicago Lock Box

    2. 3/15/11 received reciept NOA from National Benifits Center stating they had received it on 2/22.

    3. 3/23/11 received NOA from National Benifits Center stating they had transferred application to California for processing.

    4. 4/5/11 recieved NOA for Biometrics in Tampa Fl - completed Biometrics on 5/3/11

    5. 5/17/11 received NOA from California stating that they had transferred it back to the National Benifits Center because they

    had jurisdiction over the case?

    6. Received an NOA today from National Benifits Center setting an interview appointment for 5 July in Tampa.

    Q. Can anybody share if all these transfers are normal?

    Q. The notice provided a list of items to bring and one of them is joint bank accounts. Bank of America will not allow us to

add my wife to my account because they say it is illegal unless she has a SSAN and Green Card. Social Security will not give

her a SSAN without a Green Card. Does anyone know where we could open a joint account? She does have an ITIN from where we

    filed joint taxes this year.

Thanks greatly to anyone who takes the time to read this.

  3. Hi, good day to all!

I also got some questions similar to the one above. We already got our visas, for me and my daughter. The next step is the seminar, right? Do I have to schedule myself for the seminar? Also, do I have to bring my daughter to attend the seminar? Thanks.

  4. This is not a bash anyone thread.. It is a genuine question if missing something in the culture. I am embarrassed to even ask this.

I give my fiancée 300 american dollars for support each month. It is never enough though. I realize 300 a month is not a great deal, but should be enough to live on or am I way off here? It is starting to really hurt our relationship at this point because within 15 days she has gone through the 300 this month, and asking for more even though have asked her to budget money since I am sadly not a rich man. Would someone please illuminate the situation? :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:

I have seen this situation many times since my first trip to the Philippines in 1971. What you have to understand is that she probably has a very strong sense of responsibility for her family. Further she probably has never had any training at budgeting or saving for the next day. If you love her you are going to have to be patient and teach her. I would suggest you send her smaller amounts, maybe weekly as a start.

Some replies indicate that you may be getting scammed and that is more than possible. Many older foreigners are being scammed all over SE Asia. Some even have shirts they wear that say "I Love WU".

    Good Luck

  5. Hello,

I have my K1 visa interview in Manila on the 23 and I am trying to fill out the on-line visa application form. I have followed all the instructions in completing it, including all the corrections it flagged. Unfortunately, when I click "Continue" at the bottom nothing happens. If I understood the instructions it is suppose to be formatted with a bar code at this time so that I can print it?

    Can anyone please help,

    Thanks,

    Claire

  6. Hello April Folks,

Congratulations to all those who have received the NOA2. For those still waiting, my heart and hopes go out to you for a speedy and joyous end to your torture. I've never actually been tortured but the wait between NOA1 and NOA2 has to qualify as mental torture. The night I noticed a touch and then got the email shortly after was one of the most emotional moments of my long life. Our Story so far:

    I-129F sent - 4/11/09

    NOA1 received - 4/23/09

    NOA2 email - 27 August

NVC Letter - 9 September (dated 3 September)

10 September - Called The Embassy In Manila, they wanted to set the interview for 16 September. We needed time for the medical so its set for 23 September. Claire and Alexis will be at St. Lukes on the 15th.

I have read every guide here and any posts I can find on the subject but I'm still confused - maybe its just the stress of the moment and not wanting to make any mistakes.

Can you guys double check me please?

I-134 Affidavit of Support - Just need 1 copy signed by me with all supporting information attached?

DS 156 Visa Application - Just need 1 copy for Claire?

DS 156K - Need 2 copies for Claire and 2 Copies for Alexis?

DS 157 - Need 2 copies for Claire and 2 Copies for Alexis?

Application Fees - $131 each paid at Banco De Oro prior to the interview - reciept is stamped on the DS-156K?

Thanks everyone and please wish us luck,

  7. Congrats to the recent approvals!

Anyone have an idea of how long it is taking Vermont to send files to NVC? I just called and ours has not arrived yet ... the call center person said to check back in two to four weeks, but it could take up to ninety days to transfer the file. I'm hoping it only takes a week or so.

    Chris

Got the NOA2 Email from Vermont on 27 August. Got the NVC letter yesterday dated for 3 September. Called Manila last night and they already received the package from NVC. They scheduled Claire's interview for 23 September.

Everyone just hang in there, after NOA 2 everything seems to go really fast.

  8. The child should have a right to dual citizenship. It has a right to citizenship in the Philippines by jus soli, or having been born there. It has the right to US citizenship by jus sanguinis, or having a US citizen parent. In the event a Philippine citizen acquires citizenship in another country by naturalization then they would have to apply to reacquire their Philippine citizenship under R.A. 9225, but that doesn't apply when the citizenship is acquired by birth. Both the Philippines and the US will recognize the dual citizenship.

Yes, the consulate will probably deny a visa for the child. A US citizen does not qualify for a visa because they don't need one.

Have the child's birth abroad registered at the consulate, and get her a US passport.

Thank you; Yes I am aware of her right to Dual Citizenship. If it is required to register her birth with the consulate and get a US Passport, how do we do that? What documentation is required? Do I need to be there in order to get all this accomplished? Thank you again for your time and sound advise.

  9. Hello All,

My fiance and I just received the NOA-2 hard copy approval from Vermont yesterday. On the I-129-F we submitted our 4 year old daughter's name as going to accompany her to the US. I identified myself as the father and my name is on her birth certificate which was also submitted. She has a Philippine passport and that was by choice. At the time we were not sure if we would want to live in the US or PH and we are still considering retirement in the PH in a few years. I read a guys post in here the other day that his fiance's K1 was approved but the K2 for their child was denied because the child me have claim to US citizenship. I tried to email him for information but he did not reply.

Does anyone have experience with this? We would prefer that our daughter maintain her PH citizenship until her and her mother can make a decision about that togher at a later date.

By the way I want to congratulate everyone that has received approval in the last few days. We both took a break from VJ on 8/27 when we got the famous and much sought after email.

  10. Yes when I checked it at first I thought I was seeing things,I wped my eyes because I thought i still had sand in them from surfing and when i looked again it read file updated 08/27/09. Lets hope this means we are getting aproved soon,PLEASE GOD LET THEM APROVE US!!

Yes I know just how you are feeling at this moment, I was afraid to open the email until I had said the same prayer. Keep the faith and all will go in your favor. Later tonight or tomorrow you will be celibrating too.

  11. Was in my office today at 2 PM and decided to check our status on-line. I was shocked to see today in the last updated, had to rub my eyes and then make sure I was not seeing things. The status was the same as it had been for almost 5 months though. You all have to know that I have checked the site every 10 minutes for the past 6 hours. I was just setting here watching TV when I got an email beep. I looked at the title line but was afraid to open it. I'm a big tough guy that has seen a lot in life but I have to confess that I burst into tears of relief and joy reading the below. I will call Claire now and wake her up with the news. I wish the rest of you this type of joy soon.
