  1. Hey Secret agent Finn! How are you?! Glad to see you fianally have your Finn man home!

David was losing his mind being home. He's working terrible hours 4p-2am. I miss him.

I havent been on much. trying to catch up. I dont understand why people want to close this thread. It is where I go to find you guys. The new thread is all new folks I dont know!

Hello David's Girl!!!! Wow, I bet you miss him! I don't know if my hubby's going to look for a job or what. I kind of like coming home to a clean house! ha! Things are very good! We've had no problems adjusting to living together, and he gets along great with my daughter! That's the most important thing. He's so easy to be around...he's so agreeable and so easygoing! I'm very happy!

We have to keep this thread alive!!!!! Tell David hi from the secret agent!

  2. Finn!! How are ya?? I've been hanging around waiting for my hubster to get here! He got his visa

the day after I left. Figures, LOL. Anyways we first got his ticket for the 19th of March but had to

postpone it a month. So now hopefully he will be here on the 16th of April!!

Glad to see your husband is now with you!!!

Hi And Sam! Congrats on your visa! My hubby couldn't come over right away either-he had to quit his job! Things are great and I'm so glad he's finally here! It's been almost two weeks and I think he's getting bored being a "house husband!" Keep me posted!!!!

My hubby was approved at his interview on March 1st and we moved him down from Canada this past Monday. What fun that was!

Hope things went well for Ms.Sheka. I saw her interview was coming up and wanted to check in to see what was going on. I'm still around, but spend alot of time in the Canada forum.

    Hope all is well!

    congratulations <img src="http://www.visajourney.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/good.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="good.gif" />

Thanks Twisted! Congrats to you too! Isn't it great to finally have them home with us???

  4. Hi everyone! Ms. Sheka, good luck on the interview! I just checked your timeline and your interview is TODAY! Yay!

I haven't been on in awhile so it's hard to catch up. Hope everyone's doing well! I finally brought my hubby home last week! I flew over to get him, and he was asked no questions coming through his POE (which was our city-Seattle). He managed to go through this entire process with zero questions (including his visa interview)! It's great to finally have him here!!!

  5. I'm almost 46, and do you know how many people ask me this question ALL THE TIME? I want to slap them! My daughter's graduating from high school! My coworker just asked me today if we were going to have a baby. #######? I told him I didn't really feel like spending all my free time in a fertility clinic...then I just said I couldn't have children anyway. ha! I think that'll be my answer from now on. I'm going to enjoy my time alone with my hubby! I mean, I've waited for him for 22 years...I'm not crazy!

  6. Mark, you know I'm living vicariously through you today! Well, that's if you post after noon...ha!

And Sam, have a safe trip and kick butt in the interview!

Me? Well, I leave in eight days to go get the Finn Man! Here's a cultural difference between Finns and me...they hate clutter. They don't keep "stuff." They are super neat people. You can only imagine how much work I have yet to do to my house...and to my car! ha!

  7. According to pub 519, I can count her as a resident for tax filing, which will be to my benefit (since she earned way below the allowed foreign-earned income exemption), so I just get the additional allowance. Pub 519 only talks about the ability to treat the spouse of a citizen or PR in this way, it omits other dependents, so I can't treat my stepson (which would be another allowance, but would add child support complications that I would rather worry about next year). So, I am waiting for the SSN. I should have it in plenty of time. I will have all the stuff done in TurboTax and will be able to push the button the moment the number is in.

But I am not versed in tax law, so follow my lead at your own risk.

From what I have read, you can file married filing separately, in any event.

    Mark :)

I guess I should read pub 519...when I can't get to sleep. ha! So we have to put their income on our taxes? I'm going to play around with turbotax tomorrow and see what happens if I do married filed separately or jointly (if it lets me go back and change, which I think it does)...then wait until my Finn gets his SSN (which will be before 4/15). So confusing!

Speaking of sleep Mark, I bet you can't sleep tonight!!!!! Yay!!!!

  8. Hour count has already begun (86, if you were wondering). I am so pumped :) Yipppeeeee!!!

    Mark :)

Add two weeks to that Mark, and you have my count!!!!

Hey, btw, how are you and everyone else filing your taxes? I'm so confused...I don't know if we should wait until they get their SSNs (if they move here before the deadline), or if you can even file jointly if they didn't live in the US last year! Makes my head spin.

  9. he is leaving delhi on march 1, with a layover in bahrain and london. will be here on march 2nd. yes, everywhere i read he did not need the transit visa. so excited about that. it was only 40,000 miles and 107.80 (taxes and processing). whereas if we would have paid for one way ticket, they are just ridiculous right now. soooooooooooo excited

You have me beat by one day Twisted!!!!!

It looks like we will be able to work out the details pretty soon. Stay tuned :)

I'm the first with the visa and the last to get my hubby here. Real life sucks! Mark, we'll be back on 3/3 so keep that in mind!

  10. Hello Gang!

I'm sitting at Logan airport in Boston using the free wifi waiting for Diane to finish work to pick me up. I have just had my visa stamped and I am officially a US resident. The whole process took literally 5 mins. Nothing to it. Exactly 7 months to the day since we got married we can start being a real married couple.

    :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

Wow Scot, I'm so excited for you both! Yay! Keep us posted! How close are you two to DC? I'll be coming out that way probably at the end of summer.

And in two weeks, I fly off to get my hubby-he enters on 3/3! He wanted to go home to Finland again before he moved here...so that's where he is now...such a good wife I am! Or a crazy agreeable one...

Happy, happy day!! A week from today it will be my turn :)

    Mark

Yay Mark! You won our contest! hehee Hope you're doing well! I look forward to our double date sometime!!!

  11. Congratulations! I bet you are all so excited!

David got the visa and will be here the 8th. I think he going to get a return ticket even if we dont use the other end because it is half the cost.

I can't wait! I feel like a little kid on Christmas eve!

I know the feeling! I leave in three weeks to see my hubby and I'm already like that! Hey, have you checked Iceland Air? I have no clue if they fly to the East Coast, but I got my hubby a one-way ticket for $500 from London to Seattle. And we're on the same flight of course! Tricky but I managed it.

I have a eight-hour layover in London in three weeks, and a college friend who lives there is going to pick me up and take me around. I've been there once (for two weeks with my daughter and our friends), but any suggestions you have for me to do? She suggested Windsor and Eton (I can't remember where Eton is!).

Edited so say: I meant to email you this instead but I'll just leave it here!

  12. I haven't read all the responses so I'm probably repeating everyone, but I called the IRS yesterday and was told to filed Married but Separately. We married last July, he got his visa in December, but he hasn't moved to the US yet.

Okay, now I'm reading some the responses and it makes my head spin! I didn't realize it would make a difference with the refund or anything. Guess I need to play around with TurboTax!

  13. Having been through 1 CRBA and another coming up soon (I also have a 3month old and 17month old in the philippines) USEM will require proof that you were together at the time of conception of your 3month old. If you were living with her at the time and can prove it by sending notorized copies of your US Passport then a DNA test should not be required. If you were in the US by the time she got pregnant than there will be a problem at the embassy. We are just waiting on the NSO for our daughter to begin the CRBA again...

    Just my 2 centavos

He said the three-month old isn't his son. He wasn't there when the son was conceived! Well, at least I hope not.

  14. Guess who got their interview scheduled today!

ahem... ME ME ME ME ME MEEEEEE!!!!

Sorry, I'm just a bit excited! I went from crying to shaking to disbelief to shaking again... OMG!

I happened to be online chatting to the hubby when the email came over! How cool was that?

Oh, so the interview is on March 1! YAY :dance:    :dancing: :joy: :dancing: :joy: :dancing: :joy:

Yay Red! I'm so happy for you!

  15. God knows. I'd hope they'd pick up speed after the holidays. At least some September filers are getting approved.

Fingers crossed. Today is Day 114. I just want to bang my head against the wall.

FinnLove, I haven't received my NOA2 in the time it took your husband to get his visa.

    Friggin' hell.

Well, that totally sucks! I don't get it. I hope things start moving for you Sachinky...

  16. How did you manage to get your return to coincide with his one-way? That was the problem I couldn't solve...

Very soon now... Of course, by the time Finn Man gets here, my wife and I will be an old married couple :)

    Mark

That blows! I hope you have a speedy resolution to the RFE.

    Mark

Well Mark, it took a bit of juggling but I managed! I still had to get a ticket from London to Malta (for me roundtrip) and a one-way for him from Malta to London. In London we catch our Iceland Air flight to Iceland, and the POE is home in Seattle. We even have seats together! I had two windows up and was trying to do it almost simultaneously. Nerve wracking but it worked! I've taken so many trips that I'm becoming an expert...He'd be here sooner (his last day of work is in a little less than two weeks), but he really wanted to visit home in Finland one more time before he moved to the US. I had to give him that, plus I need the extra time to remodel the house!!!

About luggage, you have to collect it wherever you clear Customs. It's easy to recheck like Christeen I think said somewhere. It's usually right outside the door.
