Hi yes my wife is a US citizen. I am Canadian/Bermudian. We have been in Bermuda over 6 months, but she is still waiting to get a police clearance letter to file for SOB papers. Will that prevent us from going to fast route at the consulate?
Is your wife a USCitizen, with residence in Bermuda for 6 months prior to today? IF SO, she qualifies to file an I-130 in Bermuda, US Embassy, culminating in a IR-1/CR-1 visa. Figure about a 3 month to 4 month turn around, from initial filing, to 'granting visa'. Usually, an IR-1/CR-1 visa holder can work about 2 weeks after arrival, must muck about and get a SSN from the SSA. (I assume this is what you mean when you write 'DCV' - we call if 'DCF' here)
K-3 visa holders have no 'automatic work authorization'.
'fastest' IMO, would be the TN, but not sure about the exact process.
I'd forget about the H1-B, there are yearly caps, different than the TN.
*** for wider exposure, moving to IR-1/CR-1 visa forum, for now ***

Hi there,
My wife and I got marrried in April. We live in Bermuda. I just got a job in the US and I am trying to figure out the fastest way to get into the US with authorization to work. Should I ask my employer to file an H1B priority processing and then apply for a change of status? I have Canadian citizenship, so could I use the TN visa? Or could I come in as a visitor and start working?
Any tips on the fastest way to get into the US legally?
Thanks for your help.

Hi there -
Hoping someone can help me out here. We received our NOA 1 in mid April. My fiance is a US Citizen, I am living/studying in New Zealand. In November my school is up and I want to travel home to Bermuda. Can I change the location for my interview to Bermuda at this stage of the game? I don't want to stick around in New Zealand for an extended period of time...
Also, is there any other way we can do this beside waiting for he K-1? How about a change of status? Or something else?
Thanks for your help!

Hi,
My fiance and I have applied for the K-1 visa. We are at the Vermont Service Center and hardcopy NOA1 was received in mid April. I am currently in school in New Zealand and my fiance is the US citizen and living in New York.
My school is finishing up in November and and I want to go home to Bermuda. I also have Canadian citizenship (don't know if that helps at all). Is it possible for me to change my address and the consulate I get interviewed at from New Zealand to Bermuda? I don't want to wait around here to be interviewed into December.
Also could we just scrap the K1 visa and try doing a change of status from a visitor visa? Is there any easier way to make this work?
Any help is much appreciated!
Thanks,

Hi,
Could someone help me out with a few answers!
My husband and I are filing a DCF I-130. Once that is complete I don;t quite understand how things will work. My husband (the immigrant) has a job offer in the US. Will he be able to work right away if he already has a SSN from previous time spent in the States or does he have to wait for the official green card in the mail?
Also, with the I-864, if both of us are currently out of the country, could his job offer count towards supporting us? Or will we have to use savings/assets to cover the acceptable support levels. If I have a job offer in the US, could we use that to cover the acceptable levels of income for the I-864?
Thanks for your help!
