  1. My Green Card expires in Oct 2007. I would be sending in my I-751 in early July normally. I am going to the Uk for a month in the middle of July - mid Aug. and I thought it would be better to send in the I-751 when I get back form the UK, in mid Aug, this would be about 6weeks before the 90 day window closes. Only because they could send me a biometrics appt. for during the time I am away or they may write to me and I wouldnt be there. Do you think that I am doing the right thing or would you file in July before I go.

  2. I have just read that they wont stamp your passport for about a year after I-751 submitted, is that

    true?

So people travel with just a NOA and expired Green Card. Yet I heard Nebraska ask you to return your expired Green Card, so I would be travelling with just a NOA.

I am paranoid that they wont let me back in the US next year when I travel.

Travelling with your expired green card and your NOA extension letter should not be a problem at all. I just came back from a vacation in Scotland (my home country!) and had no problems at all upon re-entry in Houston, using my expired green card and NOA extension letter.

I think that if your I-751 processing takes longer than your 1 year extension letter is valid for, then they will stamp your passport, but it is unlikely that this will happen. Don't worry!

Thanks you have put my mind at rest! I hope Nebraska dont ask for my expired green card

  3. Also.............I am sending copies of bills one for each year as a cross section 2005, 2006, 2007. How many bank and credit card statements should I send?

As in one for each year I meant all Bills for one month in each year.
  4. I am looking at completing the I-751. When it says list your children, I presume I have to list my husbands children (my step-daughters) and my own daughter from a previous marriage and that this section does not apply to children of "this" marraige only?

I looked at my passport and I do not have a I-551 stamp in it, I understand that I have to send a copy of the page with the stamp on it. I never got a I-551 stamp so I am presuming that this isnt a problem.

I also have to send a copy of the I-797 Approval notice. My I-797 is a "Notice Of Action" The welcome to America Letter. Is this what is required? I also have a I-797D which states my application has been approved and my Green Card was attached to it.

    Thanks

  5. When submitting evidence with 175-1 e.g. Utility Bills & Bank Statements, will copies be acceptable? What period of time must these cover, from date of marriage? As it may be a long period to cover is it acceptable to send a cross section of these documents e.g. Bills for every other month rather than every month?

I must say that this site has been so valuable to me from the date I applied for my K1

  6. I have my tempory Green Card in my married name and my passport is in my previous name. I have travelled with my marriage certificate and things went ok. I think it would go smoother if I had my passport stamped in my married name. I understand that you get a stamp from the consulate. Can anyone give me some more info on this and how I go about it. Would it be better to get my whole passport changed? Mine is a british one. Can anyone point me to the appropriate website?

  7. Hi Shadow

I feel the same as you, I always get worried that they wont let me back in the US. I have a post similar to yours on the previous page.

I am going to the UK in July. My tickets and passport are in my previous name and my Green Card is in my new name. I am taking my marriage certificate.

I didnt have any problems when I travelled under my Advance Parole last year and this was in my new name. They looked me up on the computer and didnt even look at my marriage certificate.

I suppose it would be expected that after a year and a half of marriage ones passport would be amended. Ha ha! I am loathe to let my precious passport out of my sight.

Anyway I am presuming there will be no problems as other people on this site seem to have travelled without any bad experiences. I suppose at the worse I could be taken aside to another room while they looked at my info. on the computer and maybe question me. Thats no problem as I have been through this before.

    Good Luck Happy Travelling

  8. When I travelled with my Advance Parole it was in my married name. My Passport and tickets were in my old name. I didnt have any trouble with the airline and I am using the same one again. They looked at my AP quite casually on leaving the UK. I guess at the POE they can look on the computer anyway and check your status, I am sure previous name details are shown there.

I am worried about letting my Passport out of my hands for renewal incase I have to travel in an emergency (I have an elderly mother).

Also does it matter that the new one wouldnt show my dates of entry to the US etc and my K1 visa?
