  1. Hi there,

Based on my own experience, I will say that it helps somehow, not like a big help but they can send in follow-request and in a certain way 'pressure' the USCIS officer to do some work. Though, please bear in mind that it must be 'after a certain time period' of wait. When I was filing for K1, I waited for around 8 months and heard nothing back, besides kept being screwed over by the officers who gave different answers and unlogical response.

Just be patient. There are a lot of people out there who have been waiting forever.

    Good Luck.

  3. i think you will have nothing to worry about. I am from Malaysia and my fiance (Husband right now) is still a college student and working part time. We have his father as a co-sponsor and we got the approval anyways. Besides, he is like 3 years younger than me. It just that it took us a long time to get the K1 and the interviewer at the embassy was a lil bit cranky so she was not that friendly. You can go read my review of embassy if you want to. But I think both of you will be ok! Don't worry! Good Luck!!

  4. Hi Everybody,

I tried searching through the forums since hours ago but couldn't see any related post so I think I will have to create a new post and ask yours opinion.

So, when filling in I-765, the right hand section of the form, there is this Question asking - " Which USCIS Office?" and also a blank for "Date", I wonder what should I write there? I refered to the sample forms at VJ and realised that those places were left blank. So, I should do the same? Or since I will be staying and file application from California so I should fill in CA instead? How about the date?

I am sorry if this been asked before! Please advise.

  5. We got a lawyer to check through our forms and related documents last time and we received a RFE because we didn't include the passport stamp for proof of meeting in 2 years. We asked the lawyer before n he said it was optional, not compulsary so we didn't attach that. The RFE delayed our application, i think around 2 months. It was really terrible and later I read about how many of the other members who got lawyer's help seemed to have alot of problems; their applications were delayed as well. So, seriously, I think Visajourney is the best lawyer you can ever get, monitor the process yourself.

If you wanna get a lawyer, make sure you get a really 'good' one.

    Good Luck!!

    warmest regards,

  6. :star:

we sent out the K1 petition at the 3rd July 2009 and then after that been through a very very depressing process of waiting and delays. We got congressman and lawyer involved for a lot of times, throughout this whole process because for some reasons, our petition kept being delayed and left on the shelf. Nobody liked it, I guess. But finally, after going through all these, finally we got the interview date on 1st April, 2010! Yeah, April fool! The interviewer was not really that friendly, she seemed to have a bad day so was kinda sarcastic in a sense. Though, what matter the most was, we made it! We got approved and received K1 visa on 2nd April, 2010. Finally....

Seriously, I hope that, the next coming AOS won't be this bad. I pray hard!

So for all of you out there, who are waiting, Best of the luck!

    warmest regards,

    Season.

  7. Thanks Jewel,

Don't worry, he will get a job soon! At least you two are finally together now and can deal with the problem together. :) Nice!!

    Thanks Malarie,

Well, yeah.. the wait sucks, sucks sooooo badddd.. But at least your SO had the interview already! and it was a good one! So, congratulation for the coming reunion. :)

    Best of the luck!!

  8. Wow! You must have had incredible patience and faith to have come this far and now I hope nothing but the best for you and your loved one.

Good luck for the interview :)

    Anwesha

Thanks, Anwesha! It's a long journey, and I am just doing step 1, then it took me almost a year! Sheesh! i can't imagine what is going to happen later, at AOS and what not! crazy. But, I know that there are alot of other people out there who have waited longer than me, so I guess I have to be thankful!

Thanks a lot Anwesha! Good Luck to you, too! :) you are sweet.

  9. Hi, probably nobody will care to read this post but I just want to update something! It's been a long time since I last posted anything here. I was struggling with the K1 visa thing, I waited for around 5 months to get approval then got stucked at USCIS for another two months, they didn't send the case to NVC but claimed they did. So, we were jerking around like a fool for a longgg timee. We filed for service requests, got congressman involved for a few times but things didn't work, still, Then at last we got a lawyer; he wrote letter to NVC, urging them to send message to USCIS. At last, finally, after two months of calling NVC and USCIS, the approved petition being sent!

I received my package 3 ONLY two weeks ago and have just received my package 4, about the interview date which is goign to fall at 1st April, 2010. April Fool! jeeze!! hope that it's not going to turn out to be some kind of joke! Wowww.. what a longggg journey........ You all are united with your beloved ones since long time agooo... I got NOA1 on 7th July, now only getting package 4... *sigh.. hopefully, things would be alright!

I wish all of you the best!! :) Good luck.

    warmest regards,

  10. Hi Farah,

I am sorry for what you have been through. This is really a difficult situation to deal with but I don't think you will be in trouble if they do call cops or something bad like that on you because there's no way for them to get evidence. Like what everybody have mentioned, you really need to move as far as you could and as soon as possible. The best way is to keep a distance, this will be the best solution.

But, it's nice that your husband is totally standing at your side. So good. no way for you to fix the relationship, will need to wait till she realised that she was actually wrong in doing all those stuff to you, providing that this day will come. Keeping a distance, meeting less and ltos of gifts would be the best way to maintain relationship with in-laws, i guess.

I hope that things will get better soon. *pray.

p/s: I find the comments about 'asian food' and 'asian stuff' to be really humiliating and offensive. My 'in-law to be' once mentioned about how 'poisonous' chinese food can be, right in front of my face (she didn't really mean to hurt me or humiliate me, just her opinion and she didn't even aware of that), but I took the offense and still not happy about it whenever I think about it. *sigh.

    warmest regards,

  11. Oh - and according to the supervisor - once you're approved, it takes 60 days for USCIS to send your stuff to NVC...

    R E A L L Y ? ? !

It took us around 5 months to get NOA2 then more than 2 months for the case to be forwarded to NVC, yes, JUST FORWARDING, but took more than 2 months. we got congressman involved for numerous times and got lawyer to help as well.

But, there are a lot of people who have a smooth n fast journey, another member whom I know of got her NOA2 in a month, then case forwarded in 2 days. So, it's all your luck!

    So, all the best!

    warmest regards,

  12. Back awhile the USCIS sent many files to permanent storage instead of NVC... Have you received a service request? Do you know if they have looked in Perm storage?

How to request for that? I am not sure how to check coz everytime we called they just claimed that they are absolutely sure that they have the case forwarded already and just a moment ago, my fiance contacted NVC and NVC literally called USCIS liar.

Please tell me how can i file for that service request to check for the permanent storage.

    Thanks a lot!

  13. So, after waiting for around 5 months, finally we received our approval for K1 back in 23 November 2009. But, up until now, the case hasn't receieved by NVC yet. The worst thing is, USCIS claimed they sent it already but NVC claimed that USCIS hasn't forward it. So, they kept pushing the responsibility around. We called n called n called and got congressman to involve AGAIN. But, still, nothing really helps. We kept calling USCIS and one of the officers claimed that our case 'skipped' through NVC process and was being forwarded directly to consular, whcih was impossible. We believe that he was jsut reading from the NOA2 notice which stated that "case will be forwarded to embassy....". He knew nothing and was trying to get rid of us.

So, we ended up calling and emailing embassy at kuala lumpur, but they said they receive absolutely nothing. neither NVC nor USCIS able to provide any shipping record or date. So, judging on the situation right now, I am very very VERY sure that, our petition is lost after the approval, since quite a few people had similar experience before.

My fiance is going to consult lawyer on this coming Saturday. Seriously, I don't think a lawyer can help anyways, that's will be our last struggle, i guess.

I am wondering if there's any other thing that we can do? Or any ways to OFFICALLY prove that our case is LOST so that we can actually move on, refile or go plan on somethign else. This is really a bad situation and none of us want to keep being jerking around like a fool anymore.

    please advise! Thanks!

  15. No touches or anything. My congressman's office was even told to wait until the 5 month timeframe was up. They have 2 days until that gets here. I'm not sure what to do next.

    Hi there,

I am sorry to hear that. You know what? I really think that all of the people in USCIS and NVC and whatever related departments are going on leave or in the complete holiday mood right now, so thats the reason for us to hear nothing at all. My case been approved but so far, like a month already, NVC still claim that they havent receive it. Probabaly, case lost or whatever worse that might happen...

try contacting congressman more and calling USCIS daily. I wish you all the best. Good luck.

  16. you will have to include your passpot stamp, with your arrival date to US clearly shown. You will need to prove that you met her within 2 years so the date of ur arival in US is very important (since you were the one who travelled and stayed in the US). Besides, if you entered using F1 student visa before, submit a copy as well as the date and address can be found at the F1 visa, it's a good evidence.

I got an RFE for didn't include whatever I have mentioned above. So, please take note!

  17. We received approval on 23 November 2009. However, until today, NVC hasn't receive our case yet (we thought all I129 cases will go through NVC/Department of State). We called for two weeks continously and NVC asked us to contact back USCIS. We did, the officer from USCIS claimed that our case skipped the NVC stage and was forwarded 'directly' to consular at Kuala Lumpur. They asked us to check with the embassy.

Is it EVEN possible??! I seriously dont think so and believe that the USCIS officer just try to keep us away from bothering them by reading out from the notice of action! All cases go through NVC, right? i checked through the forums and realise that there's a possibility that our case is 'lost'! God no, not after waiting for such a long perios of timeeee..

jeeze. I tried contacting consular and they asked us to email instead of calling, so I did, just wait...

    this is torturing...

  18. hi everyone, I have a quick Question about NVC now. So i got my approval on 23 Nov but until now, NVC claims that they havent receive the case n not in the system yet. They say sometimes it may take up to 30 days for the case to be in the system. is that true? I am worry that we might be in AP then, but then NVC said that we are not in the AP, just NVC stage can take long time as well.

So, wat am i supposed to do now? contact congressman again?

Please advise... argggg.... so took around 5 months to wait for NOA2, now NVC again...... I am really not happyyyy..

    please help.

    thanks a lot!

  19. We filed in June with CSC and the I-129f was received June 24, 2009... Apparently it is still under initial review??? WHY IS IT TAKING SO LONG? WHAT IS GOING ON? When I called the USCIS they said it was received June 24 and is still processing... I called on November 25th which was when it fell outside of the 5- month processing time estimation and they said that the CSC was still processing cases received June 16th so they were behind but I am looking at everything on this site now... wishing I hadn't gotten a lawyer and realizing that something just isnt right?

    Any Advice? COmments Questions

contact congressman, tell him/her your situation and ask for his help or the person-in-charge's help to send in service request. That's how most of the people speed up the process. I waited for quite a while ( even tho shorter time compare to yours) and had the person from congressman office to check for us. After that, we receive the approval.

So, keep trying. Lawyer doesnt help at all, unless you get a really good one, else they are more likely to delay the process, i am speakign from experience.

    good luck.

  20. thanks Star for your advise. Good luck! :)

I am wondering about the certification and notirization stuff. Checked through the forums and everybody have different says. So, for the copies of documents that I am going to send in or bring for interview with embassy, do I need to certify them piece by piece, to prove that those are true copies? Like those pages of passport, my previous visa records, proofs n what not.

How about the copies of sponsor tax return and I-134 forms? need to be notorized if they are just some photocopies documents? or we have to hand in Only original documents.

I am sorry but I am trying to prepare for the next step.

    thanks all!

  21. So I have just checked through VJ website and looked at the sample of NOA2 copy. I compare with mine and I have spotted the difference. The rest of the copy is more or less the same but mine was written with another paragraph at the page, saying : " the above peition has been approved and has been forwarded to the listed consular. Please contact the consular with any visa issuance, or if you like them to forward it to a different consulate..."

I wonder what this means? So they have changed the pattern of NOA2? When I was reading from the sample of NOA2 here, it stated that case being forwarded to NVC, not consular, but the one I received stated that case being sent to consular, rather than NVC. It might be a lil bit stupid to ask this, but I just want to make sure that things are alright. How about yours NOA2?

    Please advise, thanks!

  22. hey all!

did you guys receive 2 NOA2s? when i checked my mail today, i received 2 NOA2s from USCIS in 2 separate envelopes..

its I-797 and I-797C.. they are completely similar.. do you guys think it's just a copy? just wondering..

and also, do you send the ORIGINAL NOA2 to your love one or a copy of it?

    thanks!

Same thing happened to me, too. Weird. I think should be fine. hmm, don't know. yeah, ORIGINAL copy need to be sent to your beloved one, but need to make a copy n keep it urself. Now, I think maybe we don't need to make another copy since we were given 2?!
