  1. My best friend once told my husband she was gonna grab his fanny. He was mortified and took a lot of explaining to my friend who couldn't figure out why he was so offended...especially since her parents were in the room. It was fantastic :)

  2. I wanted to break down a few points that you made that are unsubstantiated.

It does not provide them 'free' processing or 'free' benefits. They would still have to pay the costs involved - and for certain circumstances will most likely also be required to pay penalties in addition to the costs, the same as anyone else requesting a benefit.

We do not know that at this time.

Amnesty would merely grant those who currently do not have the right to apply for an immigration benefit, the opportunity to request an immigration benefit. It won't be given to them free of cost and they, like everyone else, will pay a fee for the service and any user fees in order to obtain any benefits for which they may now qualify.

Please provide sources. This hasn't been determined yet.

Nothing has been taken away from you, nor anything given to someone else at a reduced or cheaper cost than you are paying.

How do you know that yet? If I've paid taxes and said taxes, whether state or federal supply waivers, then yes, I AM Paying.

Amnesty means that those who have been hovering around the garbage bins in the back yard trying to scrounge something to eat will now be allowed to order from the menu - and pay for that order.

Not sure where you got your meaning but -verb (used with object), am·nes·tied, am·nes·ty·ing.
4.to grant amnesty to; pardon. Law. an act of forgiveness for past offenses, especially to a class of persons as a whole.
3.a forgetting or overlooking of any past offense.
  3. I agree with the above.. I'm in Albany, N.Y, The Boston market pays much higher usually due to the cost of living.. that said, as others have stated, non profits generally pay below scale. If you need the income, I'd take the job while continuing to apply to other places. I would say for an account manager in Boston, fortune 500 company, I'd be looking at a ballpark of 40k with minimal experience. Check glassdoor.com for the salary ranges and companies hiring account managers in your area also.

  4. Perhaps, or maybe a bit premature on both of our thoughts:

The bill calls for immigrants to pay both a fee and a fine. In a recent speech Mr. Obama used the word “penalty” to describe the fine illegal immigrants must pay. Fees, on the other hand, are meant to help cover the cost of administering an amnesty.

As to the fees, the bill does not outline what the fees would be – and there are waivers. The bill simply notes that illegal immigrants aged 16 and older who want legal status will have to pay a fee “in an amount determined by [DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano].” While it is unclear how much the fee would be, the bill says it should be enough to cover processing the applications. But in the next section, the bill gives Ms. Napolitano the power to limit the fee and to exempt “classes of individuals” altogether. With such broad authority granted by Congress, it is unclear whether this fee will even apply to most amnesty applicants.

Regardless, I'll be quite annoyed if those fines and fees don't add up to at least the amount of fees we've paid to do this the legal way.

    Just my 2 cents.

  5. As I sit here completing my final package for my husbands N-400.. I have to wonder.. if the government gives illegal immigrants amnesty.. am I allowed to request a refund for all the money spent from the fiance application forward? Obviously, that request would be denied.. and you you are unable to sue the federal Government by law. Anyone else think about this? How do you feel about it?

  6. I've revised my list based on everyones suggestions above... I think it's beefed up quite a bit :)

I also highlighted the utility/rent payments and payroll direct deposits on all of the bank statements

    1. Photocopy of Steven’s green card .

    2. Two affidavits by U.S. citizen relatives, attesting to our relationship and marriage.

    3. Copy of our 2010/2011 Joint income tax returns (form 1040) showing joint filing

    4. Photocopy of driver license’s with joint address

    5. Photocopy of Medical/Dental Certificate of Coverage showing joint coverage on my company health/dental plan

    6. Employment Confirmation statement from 2011 listing Joint payroll deductions for Medical/Dental /Vision/Supplemental Life insurance coverage

    7. Print out of my Work Profile listing Steven as Emergency Contact

    8. Photocopy of Renters Insurance Declaration listing both of us on a shared policy

    9. Photocopy Automobile Insurance Declaration showing both of us on a shared policy

    10. Photocopy of Fidelity Beneficiary Summary showing Steven is the sole named beneficiary for my 401k,individual and brokerage accounts

    11. Joint Credit Union Checking & Savings statements from 1/2011-6/2012

    12. Dental bills reflecting joint responsibility from 2010-2012

    13. Copies of BJ Club Membership reflecting 2009-present

    14. Photocopies of various cards from Birthdays, Anniversary & Holidays from both sets of in laws

  7. I think the items look good but you need to cover the entire two years. I didn't send bank statements from every quarter---only the very beginning, midway and the most recent. Alternately you can get someone from the credit union to write a letter saying Mr/Mrs "Jones" have a joint account which they opened [date]. I would add some photos covering the two years that show you with family or in everyday life as opposed all looking like you posed. Got any with different hairdos so it doesn't look like you took them all the same day for immigration.

Do you have joint credit cards? I blocked out the middle numbers and photocopied the cards.

For the record we got no RFE and I sent

--only page 1 (showing our names)of bank statements

--only page 1 (showing our names and joint filing)of tax transcripts

This isn't about proving income and W2s, but that you have these things jointly.

    We did NOT have

    --house deed in both names

    --utilities in both names

    --the same last name

--beneficiary status on 401k, life insurance, or anything like that

--coverage by a joint medical plan

    --kids

And they still approved us. I think they are actually pretty good at what they do and can sense a real couple without 10 pounds of paper to go through. Just my opinion.

Thanks, I'm going to add more bank statements :)

  8. Tax transcripts are what you sent into the IRS and thus are very hard to fake. The USCIS accepts them as is. For copies of your tax returns you need to include a complete tax return with W-2s and 1099, etc. Miss an important schedule or supporting document you get an RFE for it. With a tax transcript the information is all there and less chance to get an RFE. So that is why it is recommended to use tax transcripts.

    Good luck,

    Dave

Thanks for the reply Dave. Luckily I have pretty simple returns and always include w-2s etc. This explains why I didnt get an RFE with the K1.

Again thanks for taking the time to reply, I've seen the recommendations and always wondered why.

Also, checking the VSC TAT; seems super long.. upwards of 6 months..anyone else concerned on that? Yikes!

  9. I am in the middle of filing bankruptcy myself. I wanted to get this done and taken care of before I marry my fiance so that it isn't an issue we have to deal with once we are married.

My bankruptcy attorney told me (because this was my #1 question going through the process of getting my fiance here) that bankruptcy is a federally backed process. There are NOT any federal programs that can hold it against you. Therefore, they cannot deny you do it this AS LONG AS you make the minimum amount of money OR get a co-sponsor. That being said, if it doesn't effect my K1 it shouldn't effect your AOS.

Good luck and hope this helps! ;)

I filed while AOS was going on and I can honestly say it didnt affect anything for my spouse. I was proactive in establishing his credit i.e secured card etc. He has good credit now alone (bout a yr later) and once the 2 yr mark is up on my bankruptcy we will establish joint credit hopefully.

  10. Hi,

I would recommend that you add state taxes for 2010 2011 and that you also should include more bank statements. Perhaps one statement per quarter for each of your joint accounts. Good Luck :)

Thanks for taking the time to reply :) I've requested a statement from the creit union stating that the joint chking/savings have been established since 2010 :) Great idea and thanks again!

  11. You want to show evidence of a comingled life during the entirety of your marriage, not just the last few months.

Thanks, I got that insight about 40 mins ago and ripped off copies of Club Membership cards 2010-current.. dental bills same dentist 2010 -current

    anniversary/birthday and easter card copies.

Steve joked about taking a screenshot print of our Facebook pages listing status/family members.. anyone ever thought about that?

I didnt consider it credible but hey what do I know.

Since I telecommute and have since 2010... my company pays my internet, cell etc. The other utilities are in my name simply b/c they've been that way forever.

Thanks for all of the insight!

  12. it could use alittle more.copy of your permanent resident front and back, some utility bills, rent receipts, tax returns are good, tax transcripts are much better, some pictures togather, some with family, and friends, copies of any trips togather,a few cards xmas, birthday, wedding, mail addressed to both of you.you can get your landlord to write a letter for you that you live there.

The rent receipts etc show in the bank statements, I didnt include anything related to passports etc b/c that doesn't establish proof we live together/have a genuine marriage.. should I? I guess I better read up on this some more :)

    Thanks!

Send some pictures with your husband, relatives and friends. If you travelled with husband send copy of the hotel invoice, boarding pass. Passport stamp showing trip abroad together. If you shop online send some invoices showing all stuff you bought were delivered in your house.Do you have some utilities bills such as cable/internet/water/phone etc, send as well.

All of my utilities have been in my name since I've lived in the same place. Thanks.. You've given me some things to think about!

  13. Hi Everyone! Boy time flies.. I feel like I just sent off the AOS packet not too long ago... Well I'm getting the ROC prepared and want to keep my no RFE streak going, so I've listed below my evidence so far. Can anyone tell me if I should include anything else? The only concern I have is lack of lease agreement, but all the documents have our address correctly listed. I've lived here before meeting my husband (2005) and go month to month with my landlord.

Please lend your thoughts & good luck to everyone else filing =)

  14. Thanks you. I do love Skype just because it keeps all of ours conversations but the quality of the call is normally not good. I do tend to download a bit, I guess I need to clean up my computer a bit. I didn't think that that was what was interfering with the call because it was happening on his end too. Thank you so much.
