  1. Hi! We also applied for AOS the first week of November too. Sebastian had his biometrics appointment in early December and just received his Advance Parole in the mail (Jan 7). They scheduled our AOS interview February 16. At this time we also received an RFE for his EAD (we signed on the preparer line by mistake. Don't know how I let that slide by darnit...), so we sent back the correctly signed document immediately. Don't think we'll hear anything on that prior to the interview though.

  2. just got and email saying my fiance's petition for visa was approved now what happens what do i do we do next i filed on jan 12 so i think thats pretty good on time so far

We just got the email today too!! Congratulations! Yes, they seem to be making pretty good time with the petitions. I found this K1 Visa flowchart on this site and it displays all the steps of the visa process. It should answer some questions about what is coming up next....

  3. Brazil's northeast is a beautiful place, and fairly inexpensive for him. (I don't know what it costs to get to Colombia, but it's cost between $500 and $800 for me to fly there from O'Hare.)

As I recall, when we looked at places to travel, the cheapest place for us to go that wasn't in Brazil was Europe. It was quiet odd, but the places where it was really cheap for me to fly (in South America) was very expensive for him or vice versa. We had talked about going to Buenos Aires or Chile instead of Recife, but it was going to cost almost double the airfare between our flights... but both of us flying to Italy would have cost roughly the same (but would have been a little more expensive, living-expense wise).

Wow, $500-800 is not bad. I am definitely going to look up flights to Brazil. Ohhh, and I didn't even think about looking at Europe. I will have to do that. I just wonder how easy it is for my fiance to get a tourist visa there? I'll do some more research. Thanks so much for the reply :)

  4. Hi everyone. I am just beginning the k1 visa process and this website has been so helpful :) I am from the US and my fiance is from Colombia. We met in Jamaica and visited each other 3 times while he was working there, and I have been to Colombia a few times to visit. We both love traveling, so we are trying to decide where we could go next while we wait for the visa to get approved (hopefully :)). Does anyone have any suggestions of vacation spots that are relatively inexpensive and also where a Colombian can go with a passport (or where it is easy to get a tourist visa?) Any personal experience or recommendations would be helpful. We were hoping to find some places where we could meet half way, that way we could see each other more often. Thanks for your help!
