  1. Anyone has their interview scheduled on December 2009 at chennai embassy.. ?

    Hello Ansubinu,

What is your interview letter say. What are the documents need to take during the interview.

I think you need to go to VFS office before 10 days of the interview date.

What about the medical exam look like there is a new Appllo heart center lab for medicam exam...

could you please explain in deatail...

  2. Once you get your interview letter from NVC by email there will be a checklist in there in which you will have to go to VFS and submit the required documents to them. For us it was the Passport PCC. We will also be submitting the medical report there as well. You will go there 10 days before interview and submit the required documents and pay the courier fee.

Thank you very much for your reply.

Please post the Interview Q and experiance here once you done.

    Good luck

"Before coming for your visa interview the following documents should be presented at your nearest VFS office.VFS will give you a receipt for all documents left with it.At the time you present your documents you must also pay courier fee Rs.387/- per applicant, by cash.

All documents must be presented at your nearest VFS office.

No later then 15 working days and No less then 10 days prior to you interview date.

    Thanks

  4. Ok, now I'm genuinely confused.

My wife's passport is in her maiden name. All of the paperwork I've submitted--birth certificate, marriage certificate, passport bio--has all been in her maiden name. However, we both want her last name to be changed to mine when she arrives in America, hence when I filled out her information, I used my last name, and listed her maiden name as an alternate name. All of the information I read suggested this was fine.

Now I'm hearing that this will cause problems for her visa? I already sent off my DS-230 packet; what do I need to do to get her greencard issued with her married name, and not her maiden? Is this going to spark an RFE?

You have to have her passport changed... She goes through her country's system to get a new passport issued with her married name (if that is the name you wish to use when entering the USA)... The visa will be issued for her in her married name, she MUST have a passport that matches that name!!! Also, if her passport does not match the name she is using for the airline, then she cannot fly... You have to ACTUALLY change her name in her country before they will issue official documents in another name...

So there is no confusion... YOU WIFE MUST OFFICIALLY CHANGE HER NAME AND HAVE HER PASSPORT ISSUED IN THAT NAME...

Agreed!!!! You shouldn't have put your last name on the application if it wasn't her LEGAL name. NVC wants you to use legal name for application. Putting down your last name if it hadn't been changed will cause problems since passport will show maiden name and application shows married name (but not legally changed)
