  1. Hi everyone,

I was wondering in regards to the interview - do I need to give my mom the original of my name change document if I changed my name at naturalization? I initially sent in a copy of the document when I filed a petition. This document is not on the list of documents that need to be submitted to the NVC, I was just wondering if it would be required at the interview.

    Thanks.

  2. Hello,

One quick question just to make sure I understand it correctly. I am in the process of submitting the DS-230's for both of my parents that live in El Salvador. Our official language is Spanish. I do not have to translate their birth certificates, marriage certificates or police certificates because they are in Spanish, correct?

Taken from the U.S. Department of State website:

    "Translation Requirements

All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations"

It just sounds too easy to be true... Usually they require every single document that is not in English to be translated. Can somebody please confirm?

    THANK YOU!

    Bunnyta

I called the NVC to ask about the translations and was told that I do not need to translate anything if the documents are in the language where the visa is issued. I was kind of surprised myself, maybe I didn't get it right? . If somebody could just share if they had to translate any documents, that would be greately appreciated.

  3. Guys do you know when an affidavit of support gets entered into the system? I sent mine 2 weeks ago and I still don't get a message that the NVC received it when I check the automated response system. Should there be a message that they received it or only after it gets reviewed?

Also , could anyone tell me - did you need to translate the documents for your parents? Did you do the translation yourself or does the NVC want it to be a certified translation by somebody else?

    Thank you.

  4. No, pay the bill. Wait for it to clear. Print out the barcoded cover sheet. And send in your DS230 package.

No need to wait for NVC to send you any thing.

    Thanks Sachinky,

I also wanted to know - for documents not in Engilsh - can I translate them myself or does it need to be a certified translator? Do I need to have my signature notarized on each document if I can do the translation myself?

    Thanks.

  5. No they don't send any invoice, pay it straight away. When you will have the cover page, you can send a package of IV documents (DS-230 etc.).

Today I received my passport with visa and the envelope :)

    Thank you guys,

So if I understood it right after I pay the IV bill the NVC will email me further instructions to submit other docs in about a week or so?

    Thanks.

  6. Sachinky,

It is required for parents cases at both the stages and at I-130 stage you need a copy of BC and need to send ORIGINAL or CERTIFIED copy(issued from the same authority) with DS-230. Check the link below and also NVC issues RFE if you dont send in ORIGINALS with DS-230.

    Thanks, Raj

    Thank you Raj.

I am just curious did all of you send your original Birth certificate when filing for parents? I just feel realy uncomfortable sending the only copy that I have. When can I get it back and what if it gets lost? Sorry for being paranoid, but... anyways,I just want to know if everyone sent in the original or maybe there's somebody who submitted a certidied copy done here?

    Thanks

  7. Guys,

when it comes to petitioner's birth certificate, do I have to send an original? What is a certified copy? If I translate my birth certificate myself and notoraze it here - will this be suficcient or will they only take an original or a copy from the issuing entity? I would prefer not to send the original, since it's the only copy I have and I cannot get a certified copy from where it was issued.

  8. I was worried about the same thing, so I am bringing my sister's info along as a co-sponser when hubby has his interview.

May I ask did you actually lose your job? In this case do you just wait for the interview to bring the co-sponsor's docs?

I'm just thinking if I was to be laid off do I need to send the co-sponsor's docs to the NVC after sumbitting the original I-864 or would I just need to wait for the interview to give the co-sponsor's docs to my mom?

  9. Guys,

    I have a quick question.

I've submitted the affidavit of support for my mom, with my last paystabs, W-2, letter of employement etc.

My question is - what if I were to lose my job while the case is still pending approval. What happens?

Do I need to find a co-sponsor and give my mom his/her papers to the interview? Or would I need to do anything now at the NVC stage?

How does it work in this case? My company laid off a few people today and I'm just getting concerned.

    Thanks!

  10. If you are not including your husband's income, you'd just use your income from the W2.

You CAN still use the 2008 taxes because the deadline hasn't passed yet. Be warned, NVC may ask for current employment letter or 6 months of paystubs in lieu of those tax returns.

If your AOS is going in post-April 15 you will need your 2009 returns.

This clears everything out. Thanks sachinky!

  11. Hi everyone,

I have a quick question, would appreciate if somebody could help me out.

In the form I-864 it asks me to put the information from the most recent tax year. I've not filed 2009 tax return yet, can I put 2008's information as the most recent or do I have to file 2009 first?

I'm also the only sponsor, but I file joint returns with my husband.I'm not including my husband's income to qualify as a sponsor. Do I still need put our total income from the joint returns in the tax information line for the recent 3 years or just include my income from W-2?

    Thanks!

  12. Diamond,

You dont have to send(snail mail) signed DS-3032 to NVC instead you can email them using this template...I dont know about others but for my parents i did not use NOA2 anywhere......and not even at the time of Interview.

    http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Email_DS-3032_form

If you would like snail mail them, then what you can do is print the one that you emailed and write NVC case number on the top and snail mail it.....

    Good Luck! Thanks, Raj

    Hi Raj,

the reason I want to send it by snail mail is that I need to fix an error in my mom's name and I'll be also sending the NVC the proof of the correct spelling of her name in the same package. I want to make sure that the name error is fixed in the online system as soon as they recieve the forms before I proceed with other steps in the process.

  13. Hi guys,

I have a little question, may be it's a silly quetsion but I'd appreciate if somebody could answer.

In regards to the choice of agent form. Do they need it to be the original or can my mom fax the signed form to me? In this case it's going to be a copy of the form. Will they accept it or does she have to mail me the original form by regular mail?

Also, since my NOA2 is lost in the mail, I would like to know, will this form be needed further in the process, for e.g. will my mom need to bring the NOA2 to her interview?

    Thanks.

  14. Hi everyone,

The case for my mom has been approved as an online system says. The notice of approval was mailed 12 days ago and I still have not received it.

I know I need to register email addresses and send some forms to the NVC, as well as pay the processing fees. But I'm not sure what to do now if my approval notice is lost somewhere in the mail. Tried calling the NVC at the number provided here on the forum - busy all the time.

    Please help.

I don't know what to do.
