Hi Richard, congratulations! Has your green cards arrived yet?
My mother entered US last Friday. Hopefully she will be receiving her welcome letter and SSN as quickly as yours.
Hi everyoneJust to say that today, 13 days after entry, our Welcome to America letter arrived.
In the same mail was our SSN letter!
I checked the USCIS website and our Greencards have been ordered.
What a fantastic start to the New Year.

i just called China to inquire my case and was told guangzhou hasn't received my case yet...
My case was sent out by NVC at the end of of September and it has been almost 3 months. The rep there told me it is common to wait this long but I am a little worried and impatient. Can anybody with experience or knowledge tell me if it is normal or not?
My case is IR5 (parents of US citizen).

If you are in normal process (not electronic processing), the wait is normal. The package might be stuck at Guangzhou custom for inspection. It sometimes takes more than 3 months to be cleared.

For people who sponsor relatives from China, I strongly urge you opt-in electronic processing, which was super fast - in our case: 6 weeks for NVC to complete the case and schedule the interview.

CONGRATULATIONS luckyyy!! How did you find out? Email, AVR or call to NVC?
I called and spoke to an operator this morning and she told me that the case has been completed today. Then I checked my email and found out that the Email notification was there waiting for me to read.
AVR is still behind though. So as tay pointed out, it's better to talk to an operator to find out the real status of the case.

I spoke with the NVC and they told me I need a German Police check despite being told twice by the US Embassy in London that it was covered by my RAF record of service.
I have just printed off the documents and have now to take these to the local Police Station for Authorisation. Then a DHL package to Germany.
Add to that stress we now have the threat of UK Postal Strikes.
Richard... SO sorry! That is incredibly frustrating. I hope you are able to get the certificate quickly and that things move forward fast. I know you don't want to be in temporary housing very long!!
I am very nervous that we will have something missing. With M&D living in so many different places I expect they will want something we haven't provided even though we have already sent 10 police certificates with the original DS-230.
Hi ptrober, I would suggest you speak to an NVC operator to find it out. I found out the RFE one day before we received it - an NVC operator told me that we have missing information and she told me that it's the petitioner's birth certificate.

Ouch Luckyyy. Sad to see that you got an RFE. I hope it does not slow you down too much.
We have yet to hear anything regarding our DS230 so we hope that no news is good news.

Thanks, Richard. I called NVC and spoke to an operator after we sent in the petitioner's birth certificate (can't believe that i missed that!). I was told that we got everything else covered. I have a feeling that one of us (you, ptrober or me) will get case completed at NVC within the week or next week at the latest. Keep our fingers crossed!

Just a quick update...
Both my parents got their Greencards in the mail yesterday. Pleased to say they had no errors on them. They also got their SSN so thay are all done with immigration until its time to apply for citizenship...

We got RFE today
and we just sent the required documents today. So I guess we will be expecting the case complete in the next couple of weeks, hopefully! We got the invoice identification numbers on the fee bills in mail (before we gave NVC our email addresses). But I guess maybe you can try to talk to an operator to find out if the numbers can be given over the phone.
Mom's Case reached nvc and case # was assigned! :-)i gave them our emails, but forgot to ask the invoice id number? Will it IIN be in the bill email or should i call back? Is it created on case acceptance date or on bill issue date?

Yes, the same here. NVC AVR said something (probably updated last night) like "The NVC received your documents on 9/9/2009 and please allow 6 to 8 weeks for the NVC to review these documents and notify you of the outcome of the review".
Well, hopefully it won't be "6 to 8 weeks" long.

Richard and ptrober, any progress on your cases?I sent my DS230 in today by express mail. That is all they are waiting on. They told me that my AOS was approved (it took about 4 business days after they received it). Given how quickly they processed the AOS, I am hoping that I may be finished at the NVC by the end of next week.
Hi Luckyyy. The NVC Automated service acknowledged that the DS230 package has arrived. Now, like PTROBER it is just a question of waiting......

NVC AVR is befind so I spoke to an operator and confirmed the receipt of the AOS and IV documents - they were just entered to the system today! She said it takes 4-6 weeks for NVC to review them. Hopefully it won't be that long.
happy to let you know my mom's case has been approved and a notice of approval has been sent. I sent the RFE 8/31 and was received 9/03 and finally tonight got the email! 5 days of waiting and prayers answered! now i can process my parent's case together

Tay, did the London consulate stamp on your parents' passports? I've heard that this stamp on the passport together with the stamp that the immigration office puts on the passport at POE in US, both of them are on the same page and they together are treated as the temporary green card before the real one arrives. Is this the case?
Yeah, it's said that it usually takes 2 weeks to receive the welcome letter and another 2 weeks to receive the actual card.BTW, someone on the forum said (can't find the original post, so maybe on another forum - been to too many
) that once the applicant enters US, we can use USCIS's Case Status Service Online again to check the status of the green card. Is this the case?My Parents just got their "Welcome to America" letter yesterday. so their Greencards should be here very soon.. They too checked the box on the DS230 but they have not recieved any SSN card. We went to the local SSA office and completed the SS5 form, they used their passport and their birth certificate and were told they should have their SSN within a few weeks. That was on Friday of last week.Yes the reciept number on the Welcome letter allows you to check the status on USCIS website, I added both the numbers last night and the info says case papers received from POE and "Welcome Notice" sent, case is pending at the Texas service center. You should hear from us within the next 30 days...

We sent AOS documents 2 days ago. Still nothing at NVC AVR. So I talked to an operator and she said they haven't received them yet and it's because they are processing things in the order of receipt.
I guess I will give it another day or two.

BTW, how did you find out that "I-864 Acknowledged at NVC"? did you hear it from the AVR or did you have to speak to an officer?

I mailed the choice of agent last thrusday and NVC received and generated the IV fee BILL yesterday....I will send the form when the payment showns as paid which woulbe be in couple days....I mailed the I 864 last week, too but they havent processed it yet.....

Same news as Nancy. IV Bills were generated overnight which I have just paid. The NVC Automated service still has the same message about awaiting DS3032.
But things do seem to be moving.
Now if they could just process the payment before the holiday weekend.....!

Yeah, it's said that it usually takes 2 weeks to receive the welcome letter and another 2 weeks to receive the actual card.
BTW, someone on the forum said (can't find the original post, so maybe on another forum - been to too many
) that once the applicant enters US, we can use USCIS's Case Status Service Online again to check the status of the green card. Is this the case?My Parents just got their "Welcome to America" letter yesterday. so their Greencards should be here very soon.. They too checked the box on the DS230 but they have not recieved any SSN card. We went to the local SSA office and completed the SS5 form, they used their passport and their birth certificate and were told they should have their SSN within a few weeks. That was on Friday of last week. -
Hello guys, if you sent emails to NVC, how long does it usually take for them to get back to you? The auto response said "please allow 10 business days for a response".
"10 business days" is slow!Should I call NVC to make sure that they receive everything and ask them what is the estimated processing time?

Yes, this is her first time coming to the US. Both of us have been super excited for the last few days.
