  1. Dear VJ Friends,

I have petitions for my in-laws that are at NVC. I am at the stage where I submitted all the supporting documents along with the Visa application forms.

I checked the status of the case via the AVR and it indicated that I have missing or incomplete info. I spoke to an operator and was told that both the marriage certificates for my in-laws as well as for my wife and I were missing. I was quite stunned as I know I submitted these docs. I even checked my files at home like a madman thinking there was a small chance that I might have forgetten. I didn't have them in my files, in my car, office or anywhere else in my house.

I know I included them in the envelope. I also mentioned that I submitted both applications in the same envelope.

I was told the case would be sent to a supervisor and it would take 10-15 days. It has been 10 days and I still haven't heard anything. I am starting to get very concerned as these documents were quite hard to come by and they are all originals. And I KNOW I sent it to NVC. The marriage certificates were original from the issuing authorithy with the government seals. The english transalations were also from the issuing authority along with the government seal and translator's seal/certification.

I just don't know how NVC can claim that they are missing. Its not like the letter said that something was wrong with the documents. It took NVC only 5 days to review our cases and to send the email requesting missing docs. Yet for a re-review with the supervision, It has been 10 business days.

Has anyone else had this problem with NVC with regards to so-called missing documents? I figured the process with NVC would be a breeze since they are collecting all original docs beforehand thereby saving the overseas consulate a lot of time. I just can't figure out why NVC is claiming missing documents unless someone tampered with my mail which I highly doubt. I'm so worried and confused. If anyone can shed some light with a similar expereience, please do share you story and offer some guidance. I pray everyone else can get through this process smoothly. Thank you so much and God Bless.

    Worried and Confused

Yes. We did. NVC told us that we did not send them original marriage certificate. I called them up. They sent the application to supervisor and almost 14 days later they approved our application.

Hope same thing happens to you as well and your case gets approved soon.

  2. I have paid AOS fee to NVC and I think now I need to send I-864 and employment letter/pay stubs very soon. Currently I am living outside US with my wife. I have received an offer letter from a startup company in US for some online work, which I can do while staying outside US. Can I show the offer letter from that company ( I don't have any pay stubs yet). Will the pay stubs and employment letter be required later also

Also my wife needs to send the "Choice of Agent" form from outside US. Can she send it using any courier service or NVC only accepts regular post ??

For the first part I do not have any helpful information. But as long as you make above the guideline from 865p, you will be fine. And job letter and pay stubs are not mandatory (I did not send any pay stubs, I did send employment letter though.) but it helps if you can manage to send them.

For the choice of agent.... She can just send an email to NVC providing all the information from the form. She can just type in all the information in the e-mail. NVC accepts it. My wife did it and she did not have any issues. She already got her visa.

  3. Hi!

I am awaiting Packet 3 from the embassy. I figure I have 1.5-2 months before interview. Should I change my passport to reflect spouse name? Thus far, all my forms have been in my maiden name.

    Thanks!

    Dude

    It depends.

The ppl at the Passport office (at the time of PCC) made my wife change her passport and add my name for spouse. But her name is same as before marriage (same middlename).

I have a friend who is a guy; he did not have to do anything. Not even adding his wife's name to his passport as spouse.

none of them had any issues at the US embassy.

    Hope this helps.

  4. Hi,

My wife lives in Surat. Is it possible for her to get the PCC before receiving the call letter from NVC? And is it the requirement to add spouse's name on her passport in order to get PCC?

I am very confused and frustated! :help:

    Dude

Getting PCC before the interview letter is hit or miss, meaning that sometimes you can getaway with showing just NOA2 letter (they think it's same in some cases, I guess it depends on the person in the office). And sometimes they ask for real interview letter.

You can try to get it with NOA2.

My wife just got the CR1 visa. We did not add my name (for spouse) in her passport. The ppl at the Passport office made her add my name.

But her middle name is still same.

I don't think the US Embassy will bug you for the spouse name in the passport.

One more thing. I have a friend who is a guy. He did not change his name nor did he add her wife's name as spouse in his passport, and he did not have any issue.

    Hope this helps you.

I am going through same thing. And here is the wisdom from my experience.

You do not need to send Local PCC with DS 230 form. (If you want, send copy of it). But DO NOT send original.

The passport office will ask for original and will not grant you the PCC from passport office. And you will not be able to get second PCC from local police office within 6 months. And that will cause issues ( I just made mistake of sending original of Local PCC and going throuh hell to fix it).

Having said that. You should start working on getting both PCCs for later time.

Thanks for the advice, will they accept a copy of the Local PCC?

NVC does not need PCC from local Police. But as you can never be too careful, you might want to send a copy. BUT keep in mind that you WILL need the original for Passport office. without original from local police, the passport office will not issue you certificate.

Just a heads-up: NVC will most likely send you RFE for PCC. You can jsut send them an e-mail stating that you will bring it with you for interview. and they will be fine with it. Then once you get your interview letter, you will have to submit the PCC from passport office along with few more documents to local VFS.

    Cheers,
