  1. As far as the 401K it should qualify since it is an asset that can be turned into cash within one year. I listed my Roth and they had no problem with it. I do not know what to tell you about the taxes issue. Finally, yes if you make the 125% without the assets it should be fine not list them and skip the area that it tells you to. We used a co-sponsor and he did just that and our packet went through without any issues.

  2. The thing is the states can fuss as much as they want, it will not matter. Here in Kansas they tried to pass an amendment to our constitution to prevent the adoption if it passed. They neglected to look at the supremacy clause in the US Constitution that insures federal law trumps state law. So it seems to be Congress people (men/women) fluffing feathers so that they appear to be doing something in an election year.

  3. As more time goes on, I'm beginning to think the best idea IS to email the DS3032 in letter format as soon as you get your case# via the AVR.

We sent an email in letter format on the 27th of Feb, using the format listed in one of the Wiki's. I do not remember which Wiki sorry, I have gone through so much stuff that I lose track where it is anymore. Point is, I called the NVC yesterday with a lot of questions, emailing the DS-3032 was one of them, and the agent told me that emailing was fine, but since they were shut down during the storm they are backed up and the emails are answered in the order they receive them.

  4. Hi! and Welcome to the March NVC thread. Do you have a case number yet? Best to start a timeline now. We can get you goin from that point. If you dont have a case number yet, call the NVC and get it. Next give them email addresses so you can get off the snail mail trail and receive communication via email. That is the first step!

Also, as you can see from a lot of our timelines, things move very quick. Mine entered the system First part of February, and Im pretty much complete (aside from my possible RFE  )

Thank you for the warm welcome. We do have a case number and both the $70 and the $400 have been paid and are "IN PROGRESS" on the State Dept. site. I know this is going to most likely sound stupid but I have been updating the timeline on the side but I have been unable to get it to display like the rest of the members seem to be able too. Those tickers look pretty handy too.

  5. Is it ok for me to complete the g-325a form for my fiancee, email it to her to print and sign. Then she scans it and sends it back to me via email and I print it out?

Since it says on the cover letter and form fc-029 that photo copies are acceptable.

I used a copy emailed back to me signed by my wife there and i did not have any issues. It went through the CA service center fine.

  6. Hi there,

I am sorry for the confusion. I made a mistake about the insurance. What I meant to say was that I would like to add her to my insurance policy as the beneficiary. I believe I am able to add anybody as the beneficiary but I will have to consult with my HR department from work to make sure. How about the joint bank account and adding her name to my apartment lease contract? Are those a good or bad thing to do?

I am also in the process of getting ready to send in my I-130, but I was able to add my wife to my checking account without her being in the country or having a SSN or ITIN. I bank with USAA so they might have some sort of stream lining, but all they requested was to have her sign the signature card and send in a completed IRS form W-8BEN. We left the tax id number blank and she was added within 3 days of the fax being received. She did include her foreign tax id number where required.
