  1. i just called Customer Service for USCIS and they said that they are just starting with paperwork accepted in JUNE! This is ridiculous, because just as one of the ladies above said, looking at the timelines, it is obvious that those for California Service Center, if you turned the first packet in August, you are receiving the second notification. It frustrates & worries me that the USCIS said they are going through JUNE right now! AHHH

but I have received my first notification back on Sept 21st and I'm praying that we'll receive some notice for christmas! but until then...just waiting patiently. Thank you for the information. I will have my fiance call the embassy in San Jose, Costa Rica and ask what or where the paperwork can be found to at least start looking into where and how we can get the paperwork, because I have a feeling it will be pretty chaotic when it finally gets to Costa Rica.

Would I just go onto Costa Rica embassy website or go through USCIS? Any helpful advice?

  2. Hey all

First, I sent in my I129 Packet on September & I have received no touches on the case updates online & we haven't received our second notification yet. I sent it to California Service Center & I'm just wondering how everyone else is doing with their second notification?????? (if you went through CSC) Is this just a waiting thing or should I be worried?

Secondly, once we get our second notification, is there any paperwork that we should have ready? Just wondering about the next steps!

    Please help us out! Thanks!

  3. i have another concern with my K1 application. i'm worried that they might think my pictures were not taken within 2 yrs of meeting my fiance. what happened was i was so happy to be with my fiance that i didn't even think of setting my digital cam to have dates on the pictures we were taking. it totally slipped my mind. and now i'm concerned that this might be a problem. all i did was i wrote the dates on the back of the pictures. is anyone in the same situation as i am or has someone gone through the same situation? help =(

a lot of us are in the same situation. i didn't think 2 years ago that i would be needed pictures with dates on them. they will understand. just make sure that any information you place in "your story" of how you met or of the relationship match up with the photos. For example if you have a picture that is the day you met, make sure it matches or the day you got proposed, make sure it matches. common sense, but don't make up dates!

  4. Just a quick question,

I am filing for the I-129F For the K1 Fiancee Visa. I need to provide them with details of our meeting along with proof or documents of relationship. I have a number of pictures to send, however some of them are my only copies which I would not want to lose. Is it ok if I photo copy some instead of sending my single original copies? Or should I only send originals?

    Thanks so much

I understand your concern, but I would recommend they be printed. For example my photos were all on my computer so I just had them printed through Walgreens. I wouldn't recommend copying them on a copy machine or something like that, so go to Walgreens or a photo shop and scan the picture and reprint a new one. That would be the best, and you get to keep the photos because you will also need those for your interview, but they will be getting a photo that isn't just copied!

  5. I'm at the Fedex Store right now & I've tried all day to send my first packet. Fedex nor UPS sends to a PO box, so what the heck am I supposed to do?

Does anyone have a quick address for the California Service Center that is a street address?

I seriously want to cry right now. I drove around for 30 minutes looking for this store & now I can't even send it :-(

    HELP

  6. quick question.

I'm sending my packet out this next week as soon as I get the original signed documents from my fiance.

what type of folder or binder should I send everything out? where did you get it?

should the check just go with the cover letter?

I am sending 2 pages with G-324a, not the 4 because of the update....but the second page is just instructions, do I still include that in the packet?

do you have the pictures like two on a page & a short description or date or how did you do it? How many pictures are recommended? 6???

can I make copies of receipts, stubs, etc. and place them all on one page or should I have each receipt individually on one page?

    Any other suggestions????

    Thanks,

    Robyn

opps. can I make copies of my passport & put two pages on one page as well??

  7. sending in the I-129F package...

but still have a few questions:

There are a couple spots on both the G-325A & I-129F where they give 2 rows for answers (i.e Former spouses' names, fiance's children's names) and those answers are either "none" or "n/a" should I fill in all the rows so there are no blank boxes or is that just repetitive and annoying?

For the G325A My employment names with addresses do not fit in that tiny box, so would I place "see supplement sheet" in each box or just the first one, implying that all answers for the question is on a separate page. Because it is the G325A there are no numbers or what to indicate that on the supplement sheet, should I just write: G325A supplement sheet: Applicant's employment last five years.

Because I lived at an University within the past five years my residency is jacked up because while living in the University, I was still registered at my parents house in another state. On top of that for one summer I went to Costa Rica for 3 months. Even if my residency was outside the US, should I include that. Should I have the family vow that I was staying with them for the 3 months in CR?

Right now this is how I have my residence period:

    University Address USA 08-08 present

Costa Rica Address CR 05-08 08-08

    University Address USA 08-07 05-08

    Parents Address USA 05-07 08-07

    University Address USA 08-06 05-06

    Parents Address USA 05-00 08-06

2000 was when my parents and i moved to that address....should I just go until 2005 since that was five years ago?

Once again for this question I will have to use a supplement sheet because there are only five boxes, but I need 6 boxes, if I include CR address. If I use the supplement sheet, should I just write it like I talked about for the employment question above, because it's also part of the G325A?

  8. I know most of the peoople here are looking for information, but I'm assuming many of you have been through some family barriers in the midst of getting married.

I just really could use some support right now through everything that has been going on with the VISA process, wedding plans, work, etc. without the person that I love, I think we all know that is so stressful in itself. Then comes the family's opinions & friends that have never met your fiance, who just don't know how to handle the situation. I feel like sometime I fight for our relationship more than live it.

Right now my family is asking that we move the wedding back until June 2011, because they want us to experience more of life together & of course they want time to get to know him more. It's a legimate concern, but on Danny's part he has been doing everything he possible could do to try & form relationships with my family through webcams, emails, phone calls. His english isn't fluent but over & over he tries to talk with them & they finally decided to come down with me in March to meet him & his family face to face.

I understand that time will always tell & bring more security to the relationship or more confirmation, but Danny & I already have enought confirmation & security about getting married & for once I want to do something that is truly from my heart, but my family's opinions definitely do affect me. I want nothing more than for my parents & sister to enjoy & participate in my wedding planning with a pure heart & pure excitement & I wish for nothing other than on the day of my wedding that there would be no doubts in anyone's mind & my father would be completely confident to hand me over to the man of my dreams.

I just don't know how to make my family feel secure if they haven't met him yet...any thoughts?

  9. Like us all I want to avoid any RFEs so any suggestions about using the short examples given for the Cover Letter & Intent to Marry Letter?

Has anyone actually used those examples for the I-129F package? I just feel like it isn't very much, but it is very short & straight to the point & maybe that's what the embassy wants. I don't know.

    any thoughts?

I'd like to add to your question actually.

I think the format is good, but my fiancée

sent me her letter and it was addressed

    as follows:

    [she left out her address]

    "To the United States Government"

    [she left out the date]

    (body text of letter)

The letter that I prepared followed the example as follows:

    [My address]

    USCIS

    Vermont Service Center

    Attn: I-129F

    75 Lower Welden Street

    St. Albans, VT 05479-0001

    08/10/2009

    Dear Sir or Madam:

I, [My name], do hereby state that I am legally ready, willing and able to marry [Her name] and intend to do so within 90 days of her arrival into the US using a nonimmigrant K-1 visa.

So basically her letter was missing her address,

the full address of the service center and the date.

Should I ask her to make a more complete one before I send in the I-129F?

    I think it wouldn't hurt.

Also, if she prepares another letter, can she send me a SCANNED copy with her signature on it,

instead of a copy sent by snail mail, as she did with the first one?

    :help: :help: :help:

you might want to post a forum so more people address the issue, but I think it depends on who is petitioning. If you are the one petitioning it should be your information: address & yes I would recommend have the service center address & date. If you do have her signature, I believe everything needs to have ORIGINAL signatures, so it would have to be snail mail. double check & if i'm wrong please someone correct me!

  10. I included another letter stating how me and my fiance met, and just about our future plans etc.. I heard its a good idea as it shows your sincerety in the relationship. I know pictures say 1000 words as well. It's up to you if you just want to include the intent to marry. Actually, I don't fear RFE's anymore because if you get one just in a manner of weeks you are approved. At least you hear from them.

well the letter of how we met, plans, pictures, etc is all part of the massive package I'll be sending!!!! Good point about the RFEs, but we're hoping to complete this process & have his visa before March 13, so I fear delays, but definitely trust in God's control & timing :-)

Take a read through the links in my signature. The adjuticators don't want to sift through lbs of paperwork to find what they need to see, striaght to the point and well organized is always a good thing.

    where's your signature?

second of all: I just looked out my local office(saint paul) & service center(nebraska). Just to clarify, I use my St. Paul location for interview needs, but as far as sending my I129F package I would send that to Nebraska? Are any of the service centers faster than others? haha JUST WONDERING!

  12. Only certain things are in ALL CAPS. Last name for one. Read the instructions carefully and you will see.

Either put None or N/A - they are seperate meaning words, so choose carefully.

Fill in the questions with the data requested.

I don't like abbreviations on government forms, however, common ones, like Ln. or Drv. should be ok.

You should put the address where you are living - when you file the I-129F.

Read the instructions, if it doesn't fit (for any box/question) - attach a supplemental sheet, listing the form, question, and answer.

    What is a supplemental sheet?

  13. Should everything be in ALL CAPS?

For the questionst that don't pertain to me or my fiance, should we at least indicate that they don't apply with either a " - " or "n/a" or "none" or do we just leave them blank?

There are some places on the forms that ask "city & country....of birth, of birth & residence for parents, etc"...should I include the state or are they really only wanting the city & USA?

Is it ok to appreviate addresses with "Dr., Ln., Ave., etc."

Right now I am in my last year in school, so should I put that to be my main address on the I-129F, or should I put my parent's address?

For question 18 on the I-129F, do we really have to write in the TINY TINY box or can we just say, see attachment, pg -- and guide them to see our original statements of how we met?

  14. I'm a beginner with the whole process & more so this amazing website. My fiance, Danny & I got engaged this past month when I was visiting him in Costa Rica. Upon return, all the information that we've been collecting over the past 6 months came in handy & now we are hoping God opens more doors in this process. Danny & I are hoping he'll be able to come back to the US with me & my parents in mid March when we return from our Spring Break Vaca. Shortly after our return we plan on getting married here with family & close friends. Immediately we will send in the permission to travel, to work & the paperwork for permanent resident. We are planning on getting married again in Costa Rica on June 12th, 2010, having our honeymoon in Costa Rica & then returning to MN for a decent period of time.

    All questions are in BOLD!

I was told that it takes approx 5 months to receive the appointment for K-1 (obviously depending on the country & their schedule) Does anyone know specifics according to Costa Rica from their end & ours?

I was also told that it takes about a month to receive permission to work & travel after you get married. Will Danny be able to leave the country & come back in June, if we get married & send in the papers in March?

My fiance, Danny & I are hoping to have the I129 Packet sent in within the next 2-3 weeks & I really want to double check not only our plans, but what I have understood from talking with people, lots of reading, etc. is listed below:

All documents MUST have original signature & dates (no fax, copies, etc are accepted?)

Documents should be typed, not filled out in pen? Should letters be double spaced or does it matter?

Make 2 copies of every form & everything should be in ENGLISH!???!

a check for $455 made out to USCIS

1 Cover Letter (me stating that I am petitioning for a k-1 for my fiance Danny)

    1 Table of Contents

1 I-129F document(both of us fill out our info, but ONLY my signature is needed)

1 Declaration of encounter (one page story of how we met with both our signatures & dates) Is this only how we met the FIRST TIME?

2 Intent to Marry (one page statements that we will marry...can it be the same statements or would you recommend them stated things differently....well do we even need 2 statements or can it be one statement with both our signatures & dates?)

Proof of having met (airline tickets, 2-5 colored pictures, conversations, phone bills, passport stamps, etc gas stubs???, appointments???)

1 G325A (for US citizen) How come all the documents say its 4 pages, but its only 2, it that right???

1 passport style picture (for US citizen)

    1 G325A (for foreign fiance)

1 passport style picture (for foreign fiance)

1 Birth Certificate (ONLY for US citizen?)

any divorce documents or legal name change documents or court/police records(for both US & foreign)

So I should send all these documents together by UPS to the closest Service Center, which in my case since I live in MN, it would be Missouri?

After the package is sent I should start to work on I-134 which both me & my fiance need to fill out or just me?

Thanks! I think that is all the information or questions for now!

    Robyn
