  1. So I'm trying to get this affadavit of support ready to go and I'm really confused by question 8. I've researched it extensively and I get different answers.

I am divorced and I have a 7 year-old daughter. I pay child support. Some folks say that I only need to answer this question if I claim someone as a dependant on my taxes. Others say that even though I do not claim her on my taxes, since I pay child support I should indicate that she's "partially" dependant.

I have no idea how to answer. Both answers make sense. It's hard to believe I can't just call someone and ask them to clarify.

Here's what I've got so far:

    1. The I-134 filed out, (aside from question 8) signed and dated.

    2. Letter from employer stating my position and that it's permanent, start date, and salary on the organization's letterhead.

    3. The 3 most recent earnings statements/pay stubs. Since I'm not self employed and my last tax return does not reflect my current amount of income, I see no reason to include any tax forms.

Does this sound about right? I have no desire to get an RFE.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  2. Something you should know about islam...unwed mothers is not a common thing there. And when it happens its like a HUGE disgrace to the family. I'm sorry that this is happening to you and I'm certainly not trying to make you feel worse but I'm not buying his story and I feel bad that he is doing this to you. Better now than when he got here though. I know this doesnt make you feel any better and if there is anything we can do to help...please feel free to send us a private message. As I said, my husband is from Morocco and if there are any unanswered questions you may have about culture and "the norm" there, we certainly would love to help you. Take care.

lol @ this truly hilarious cultural, factual insight. i don't even know where to begin...

You should stop before you begin. It's just like pre-1950s America. Luckily, the church crowd lost plenty of ground over the years and we don't have to live like that anymore in this country.

It's funny how comedy can reveal deep truths about a sad segment of our society. For example: http://www.theonion.com/content/news/area_...ate_defender_of

Good luck. You have much to overcome with which your pistol cannot help you.

  3. I went through and refilled everything out in IE just to make sure that we hadn't accidentally filled some of it out in firefox, but it still doesn't work.

He didn't include a photo, but I read on here that some people didn't and it still worked. Maybe that's the problem???

Try with a picture, even if it's just blank white - has he exploded yet?

Hmmm, Isn't that too personal a question?

No, this isn't OT, it's the Canada forum, we can use all words in the English language without suspecting innuendo.

    Refreshing isn't it?

To be a prude-ish bore? No, not at all. Victorian-era England, perhaps, but not refreshing. Innuendo is fun.

  4. I think he's partially right. Right Wingers, in general, are not the ones you'll find in libraries or universities reading volumes of academic books. They like their TV and their cheap beer...and news shows that will take complex issues and dumb them down to emotional soundbites so it's clear which team to root for and which one to boo at.

Of course - right-wingers are all idiots

This is a hilarious caricature of the right-wing Wal-Mart set. Sadly, it's pretty accurate of the people I meet here in Texas. Especially about the god stuff. The remarks near the end about health care is supposed to make the left-leaning child look like and idiot, too.

  5. I received a text and e-mail from USCIS in Vermont. It reads, in part:

"Current Status: Response to request for evidence received, and case processing has resumed.

On November 12, 2009, we received your response to our request for evidence. This case is being processed at our VERMONT SERVICE CENTER location."

Excellent. As it was merely a box I forgot to check, maybe they'll be done quite quickly. Sadly, from the trends on this site it looks like I might have at least a month to go until NOA2. Hopefully not, though.

  6. Okay, so I received my RFE letter today. The text and email claims it went out on the 3rd of Novemeber, but I'm just receiving it on the 9th. I guess even the mail moves more slowly when it's official government business. Alas. So back to the RFE. I feel really stupid. Apparently I forgot to answer Page 3 Part C. Other Information Question 2 of Form I-129F. All I had to do was indicate "no" and sign it. Wow. I checked my copy and sure enough - I didn't mark it. If they are able to end texts and emails I wish they'd sent me this letter as an attachment. I could've printed it out and mailed it the same day as opposed to having to wait a full week to get it in the mail. In other kick-myself-in-the-#### news, if I'd checked that box I would probably be receiving my NOA2 in the mail today instead of a freaking RFE. I did it to myself. I guess it's possible to be so caught up in the details that you actually miss one. At least it was an easy fix. I've updated my timeline to show that I mailed my RFE back today. The letter says I can expect to wait 14 days AFTER they receive it. Perhaps as long as 60 days. That doesn't seem to be the trend, but I am not known for my luck. ONWARD AND HOPEFULLY UPWARD!

  7. I didn't receive any texts or e-mails notifying me of the "touches"...

    HOWEVER -

I did receive a text this morning telling me my case had been updated and it instructed me to get online for details. I was excited because I was certain it was NOA2 time. Guess what? IT WAS A FUGGIN' RFE!!! I packed that thing with everything they asked for and more. It makes no sense. Ugh. Now I have to wait for at least 3 to 4 days to get the notification in the mail so I can see what they mistakenly believe I'm missing. Fab. Oh well, even with the likely month-long delay this will cause I suppose I shouldn't complain. It seems to be going very fast. Neverthless, I call BUGGERY!!!

I am guessing it is not a mistake. It is very easy to supply what you think they want, but in fact be in error. Unless dealing with a known difficult consulate where frontloading can offer some advantage at the consulate level (South Korea is not) I am a minimalist at heart. "Everything they asked for and more" often results in "more of everything except what they ask for". More of anything has absolutely no benefit at USCIS and focusing attention on unneeded things can take attention away from what is needed. Also, no amount of unneeded documents papers, emails, phone bills, photos, etc. will make up for one missing document which is required.

Let us know what happens. Good luck

I suppose I was unclear. I sent them only what they asked for, I just sent a lot of it. For example, when it says I can send a copy of my BC or a copy of every page of my passport, I sent both. That's what I meant by "more". I was so amazingly ####### about the details. I'm sure they are not mistaken, but i cannot imagine what the problem could be. I'll certainly supply an update. Perhaps tomorrow I'll receive the letter. Good luck, indeed.

  9. The Godless Left

I like to say anything that P$$es them off.

I hate to break it to you, but Jesus was a socialist. He said, "You're rich? Sell your stuff and give it to the poor." This is the polar opposite of capitalism, genius. Jesus would also would advocate spending time and "educating" those who have not received the "truth", not pissing them off and alienating them. Maybe if the more vocal christians didn't tend to be a-holes who seem to unaware of what the bible actually teaches the left wouldn't have a any firepower. The federal government was designed by the constitution to be neutral so that people in this country could be free to believe what they want without fear. Now we have to worry about people who believe the end of the world is coming being in charge of our nuclear stockpile. Religious preference in a personal matter, not a government matter. There's more to life than breathing exclusively through your mouth and listening to Nickelback.

Incidentally, I tend to fall on the conservative side of the spectrum, so I'm not some Obama follower. I'm not a democrat, but I find it totally impossible to be a republican.

  10. I like that picture of Jimmy Carter saying, "Finally, I won't be the worst president in history". He should send Bush a thank you card for that. Religious zealots have no business running this country unless they can follow the constitution and keep from legislating morality. The last thing we need is the pseudo-christian version of the Taliban here telling women how to dress. JEEBUS H. CRIST
