just to let others know i am in the u.s.a with my sister and CSPA was approved...it was so easy that i couldn't believe it that the visa has been approved....this is my detailed visa interview experience...
in the morning at 7.00am we fell in the immigration line outside the u.s embassy at mumbai with my sister..we were given a 221g on 18th june when my parents had their interview for me n my sister and so we were there on the 12th july.
then at 7.10 we went inside and then i was the first in line for male and my sister was in the lines for females...got a wooden token after my security was done and when i went inside i was told to wait in front of window number 8 coz i had a 221g...rest of the other who went for the 1st time for immigrant visa had to stand in front of window 3 for their fingerprints...
now we waited for some 30minutes n then we were called by n indian parsi lady at windo 8 where she took our DS-230 photo passport copy n rest of all the documents and we were asked some questions...then she said that "they have to be sworn today coz of their CSPA"...then we were told to sit and wait for the interview and then she said that if remind the CO for your fingerprints, coz if you dont get it done then u'l have to be called back from gujarat.
then we waited for 2hours and around 9.30am we were made to sign a letter on window 10 which stated that if we get married before we apply at the port of entry then our green cards are gone...and then since i am between 18 n 25yrs i need to sign with SPECIAL SERVICE SYSTEM ARMED FORCES within 30days of entering in the u.s.a and if i dont then i'l just have to pay fine of around 250000$ n imprisonment of 5yrs and also my naturalization will be in jeopardy..so i signed it and that was done...then we again waited for 2 hours.
at around 11.40am they called us at window 16 and then a YOUNG C.O who was an indian american lady(pretty girl) and then she asked us a few questions that 1)who stays in u.s.a?
2)what does your father do?
3)then she asked my sister that where did u stay in u.s.a?what do you study?do you stay with your aunt(petitioner)?
4)then she asked me that what do you do right now?then she saw my sisters student visa and said if she enters at POE then its gona create a problem then she asked a senior CO and then cancelled her student visa and then told us that our visa are approved and that we'l get the visa via courier in a few days.
thats it we waited till 5 in the evening at vfs and we got the passport same day at vfs
usually for immigrant visa all the passports are stamped at same day at mumbai consulate if there are no hassles..but one another thing take a copy of ur VFS RECEIPT WITH ORIGINAL AND A PHOTO IDENTITY(PASSPORT)...thats it at the port of entry we were done in like 1 hour...no questions asked and no formalities done...fingerprints done, picture taken and then passports endorsed..
on the visa u do get your green card number until you get your smart card..

hey sachi i went with my parents for the interview and guess wat?? they asked me to get my medicals done and get back to embassy any working day at 7.30am in the morning after paying the vfs courier fee and i also need to fill in ds230 and all necessary documents and take them with me but there is a little problem...
my sister who is in the USA right now for her student visa. the CO asked my dad to call her to india and also asked to pay the VISA FEE, get MEDICALS done and collect PASSPORT POLICE CERTIFICATE,BIRTH CERTI..she is having a legal student visa status but i am tensed coz i think that the embassy is framing here to deny her entry to u.s.a.. when we filled the student visa application for her, there was a question in that which said "has a petition been kept on your behalf?" to which we replied NO because technically the petition is not on her behalf coz my aunt did petition my mom and not my sister ..so the petition is not on her behalf.
my mom and dad were done with the interview on 18th,oath taken,ds230-part 2 signed and the CO mentioned on 221g letter that ME & SISTER NEEDS TO ATTEND THE INTERVIEW AND GET BIOMETRICS DONE ANYDAY..and that we need to take the passport for our parents for stamping the visa on the day we appear for the interview because parents visa wasnt stamped on the day of interview...
now my sister is coming back to india and she has a legal student visa status with no crime and no fraud...would have any impact on the visa??as far as my case is concerned i am done with the visa thing...
please help me coz i feel my sister is in trouble because if she returns to india the embassy wont allow her to enter again..she is maintaining a legal status right now...no problems with that..

hey SEAN JOHN congrats for the partial approval...please check the embassy website about the email address..i guess its CHENNAIIV@STATE.GOV instead of CHENNAIUV@STATE.GOV.. if you sent it on the wrong email address then you wont get an autoresponse from them..best of luck..

my bad...you just made it..now the only thing you gotta do is to fill up ds230 within 1 year after the priority date becomes current. if you haven't been contacted by the nvc yet, inform your mom to contct them and tell them about your situation..or else contact your local u.s embassy directly and they would advise you on what you should do..hope this helps..

congrats to all of you who got their approvals...its only 2 weeks for me now...hope everything goes on smoothly..i am gettting nervous bigtime...

hi everyone. i need your help.
i was petitioned by my mon under F2a or unmarried child under 21 years old. she is a permanent resident in the US.
does CSPA apply to me?
im already 22 years old.
DOB: Oct. 27, 1988
date petition filed: Sept. 19, 2007
Date petition approved: May, 15,2008
my petition became current this month.
im so worried that CSPA may not apply to me.
Please help me guys. Thank you so much!
i am sorry for giving you this info that CSPA won't apply to you coz when the priority date becomes current you will be able to deduct around 9 months from your age and that would be your CSPA age for immigration purpose...and that would be more then 21 years so it won't help you...your petition would be transferred to f2b

best of luck to all of us guys..june is finally here...on monday it might be a holiday becoz of memorial day so the drama unfolds from tuesday,1st june...let the party begin...
-
i'l still go on myself and then if they deny me the visa then i'l surely contact atty.eugene..i have all papers ready with me so no problems on that front...lets see how it goes on the day of interview..but i haven't done my medical as yet coz in india you cannot do your medical unless your name is mentioned on the appointment letter.in my case my name isn't mentioned but we already paid the fees so hope the CO asks me to get my medicals done and then approve my visa after calculating my age..

congrats to everyone who are scheduled for an interview in july, hang in there...people from india, since mumbai consulate is very busy, they usually assign the interview date in last week of month, only few applicants receive it in 2nd week...and about chennai they usually give it in 2nd week and delhi is a mystery...

you will be eligible to immigrate with your parents at the same time when they are interview provided you gave the right information to the forum..just dont forget to fill up DS-230 form within 1 year of the priority date of your F4 petition becoming current. the rest will be handled by CO..so just chill and wait for the pd to become current for your parents and when the nvc starts sending you the papers for parents, inform them about your cspa case they would make the calculations only when your pd becomes current..
-
check the state dept website..it says that if you are not presently living in uae and you are a citizen of some other country then you don't need a pcc from uae..i have read the reciprocity table on state dept website...hope it helps
