  1. Hello to all....

It's been a really long time since I've been here a lot of new faces. It's been three years since me and my Australian boyfriend have been talking. It has come time where I will be able to finally afford to fly there in the spring  However, I would like to know if anyone can help point me in the right direction for an airline ticket. It seems they are costing anywhere from $1300.00 all the way up towards $2500.00+... And as we all know this entire journey is expensive enough. So please any information on where I can find a moderatly cheap plane ticket would be nice. I would like to not have too many layover since I will be flying alone.

Thank you.. I hope everyone is doing well in their journey's

    Cheese and Kisses

In my experience... try getting some prices from some agents rather than online, sometimes they have very good deals. I know I've found a 2300 round trip ticket at 900.00 by talking to an agent in chicago.

Thats what he means in all likelihood. Also try www.sidestep.com i use it and find some decent deals occasionally

When you say agent you do you mean through a travel agency?

Kicking myself for not going the DCF route, I did not even think about it :bonk: But I am at NVC now and hoping it will go smoothly. But I cannot seem to find any reviews of the Consulate in Milan and the process there, but I am hoping it is similar to the Naples as that office seems to be pretty good :D

Milan? As I understood, ONLY the naples consulate handles immigration.. In fact at the interview there were people from all over italy (and outside italy) including the north (like us) who had to go all the way down there... As I said in the other post.. i would still consider canceling the other I-130 if possible and going the DCF route.. so quick and painless.. no checking websites about status and twiddling thumbs.. it was literally like a 1-2-3 done! Additionally when you file DCF their is apparently some leniency with regards to income paper work.. that worked out nicely for us.. They counted 'future earned income' even though the instructions say they do not..

For some reason I thought that he could go to the consulate in Milan (which is where I went to do the paperwork for our marriage in Italy 6 years ago)... But it is only in Naples where it is processed....

Right now, can't cancel anyting, while we were debating the I-130 got approved and we are at NVC now, but hoping that runs smoothly. I am so happy to hear that they are not too strict, my husband is going alone since I have to work, but he is a bit of a nervous person with interviews. I am not worried since we have been married for 6+ years, but it is nice to think that it won't be such a terrible ordeal....

When do you come over? And did I read you are coming on a Transatlantic cruise??? How cool is that!!! In Style!!! B)

Hi. Yes, it would be nice if there was another consulate besides Naples that did these interviews,, ah well. So what youre saying is you cannot or will not cancel the I-130 that is at NVC.. Ok, that is your choice and I hope it comes along in time.. His interview should be fine, even if he's nervous I take it. Will you join him?

Im leaving next month by myself, then i'll be back in italy in december and come back with my wife and child.

Thats not me who is taking the transatlantic cruise.. that's Inter, another fella who has his interview pretty soon here.

    ciao ciao

  3. Hi everyone,

we did direct consular filing from El Salvador and my husband and I entered the US on a CR1 visa in February. His Visa expired, but he wants to go home for the holidays. He has a green card and we wonder if that and the stamp I 551 will be enough for re entry.

What will he need to re enter the US? I am concerned that he will have problems coming back. Thanks for your help.

If he has a green card.. this means he need not worry about visas.. he's done.. he's free to move about.

  4. Okay, now I do have some questions!!! The I-130 clearly states that if the forms are not in English that you have to have them translated! I'm very surprised you were approved and you had documents that were not in English! Good for you! Did any one else have this experience? Do I really not have to translate everything?

And the problem with the police cert is that we need one from the UK as well and you can only get one of those by paying with a UK money order and I'm having difficulty finding out how I can get one of those outside of the UK. I've asked on the UK forum and no answers so far and the UK consulate is not answering their phone either.

The italian consulate asked for documents to be in english OR italian. we didnt get this news until after we received the packets

Yeah, i think they are much more lenient on paperwork, etc when filing in low immigration countries. We filed in Denmark and they did not ask for a single shred of proof of our relationship, and only asked us two questions, and that wasn't even at the interview, it was unofficially when we filed our I-130, LOL As for the income paperwork, same here, I just wrote on my I-864 what I would be making at my new job in the states and came prepared with a letter from the employer, but they didn't even ask to see the letter, or any proof of future income, only the tax return for the previous year.

Yes, it seems, just from the nightmarish scenarios Ive read on here, that its apples and oranges from high and low immigration countries.. Like the one where the jamaican guy said he smoked marijuana 2 years ago and got denied.. they didnt ask my wife anything of the sort.. it doesnt seem really fair, but i guess thats just how it goes. Im not about to complain about our situation, but they really should at least try standardize the procedure.

  7. AWSOME!!!! Thanks for the Info.... We need to wait for the package from the embassy to schedule this right??

He will do the medical at Istituto Varelli in Naples.. Where the interview will eventually be.. It's really too bad you didnt think of DCF sooner as it took me and my wife 7 weeks total from sending the I-130 to Rome.. I think it would still be quicker if you canceled your application with UCSIS in the states and go the DCF route, but that's just me.

  8. Hi, my husband and I have been married and living together in the UK for 5 years. He is British and I am American. We want to move back to the USA and I have started to gather all of the forms etc for the process.

I am now very confused. I have the I-130 form filled out but there are no instructions for the Biographic Information form. Where it says this form is submitted in connection with an applicaiton for Naturalization Status as permanent resident or other -Which do I tick for myself and which do I tick for my husband?

Also on the I-130 forms it wants any other names you have been known by. My husband was adopted at birth but his birth certificate lists his birth mothers last name. Do I need to include this?

Once all of this if filed here in London what happens next...

I would really appriciate some feedback - as I am sure all of you know this is a frustrating experience...

    Thanks!!!!

Just take a deep breath.. read visajourney lots.. be thankful you are filing directly through the consulate as it is much less painful than filing through the US/national visa center, etc... Read the overview that is the sticky post at the top of the DCF forum... it helped us get my wifes visa in 7 weeks total!

    good luck

  9. I agree with Malrothien, these type of comments are totally unnecessary. Individuals have many reasons to be living and working in countries other than their countries of origin that have nothing to do with US immigration, and the OPs motivation is not open to speculation. It is a requirement of US immigration that individuals present police certificates from the countries in which they have lived and worked for more than 6 months since the age of 16, otherwise the OP would not be experiencing this particular situation. So, if you have nothing useful to add to the discussion then do not say anything rather than making comments like this.

Good luck to the OP on your interview and I hope that the Consulate is satisfied with the documentation that you have.

Affirmative.. will refrain from the opinion pieces next time.

  10. Just as a I figured, it took you less than two months to run through the process

but you're in here whining about ppl being impatient

Ours was quick, we filed DCF but that isnt really the point. I'm not really whining about people being impatient. It's more of a principle thing and I feel that many people take for granted what they are actually getting out of this deal. Just because we didnt wait and get impatient doesnt mean that I cant have feelings on the subject.

  11. Please stop telling this person to be patient unless you have been through this kind of thing YOURSELF. Has your wife tried to get Senators and Congressmen involved? That would be my suggestion if you have not already done so. There is really no reason a security check should take this long. Good luck and I hope you get things resolved soon.

Why shouldnt they take their time on a security check? Perhaps they are being as thorough as they need to be to exclude the possibility that a fanatic might enter the country. And before anyone jumps in and says that that is a racist comment or something because they are from the middle east. I'd say no, it isnt. The middle east does in fact have a high number of extremists, many of whom have the same names (i.e. ahmed, mohammed, etc) who openly profess their hatred of the united states and secondly, I am an Egyptian-american, so....

seriously though.. why do so many people complain about how long this process takes? These people might be granting you residence in THEIR country. Why do so many talk and post like this is something that is owed to them?

i don't think its a matter of thinking its owed to them

i beleive most ppl genuinely miss their loved ones

and when you couple that with the financial stress of the process, it makes ppl frustrated

interestingly i see you have no timeline, why don't you create one?

My timeline is in my signature for all to see

  13. Not out of date at all with that, but you are spot on - things have changed in Eastern Europe for the better. No more lines for basic foodstuffs for example (not for 15-20 years). Grocery stores, and in fact lots of shops, in Odessa are really upscale - you can get nearly anything you can buy in America (except peanut butter  ). Poland is a notable exception to the "I'm happy at home" rule, as there is a huge migration west underway from Poland to the UK, and there has been a very large diaspora of Polish in America for generations. Hey, the Poles have to make room for all those Romanians and Slovenians moving west into the better paying parts of the Schengen zone right?

The reason you don't see Americans and Brits immigrating to Eastern Europe is income, simply put. If I could maintain a similar living standard in Ukraine, I would try it. I don't say that out loud, because my wife would be packed before the words left my mouth. American women do dig foreign guys too - check out the MENA forum - you will find one or two around  In this day and age, I just don't buy that the fantasy lure of America's gold-paved streets holds water anywhere any more.

Romanians and Slovenians in the same sentence? I'm pretty sure Slovenians are not emigrating like Romanians, in fact they have quite a nice standard of living over there and seem to be quite content with their little, yet outrageously beautiful country.

  14. I am planning to head back to the states before her.. We have the interview next week and we're hoping things go well (we filed DCF). I'm not exactly sure, but dont they send her visa to our mailing address in the US after entering? The thing is, she was thinking to come visit for a week or so in November.. Would she have to remain there after entering, or could she come back to Italy with no problem. I really have no idea how that works.. Any ideas?

  15. Anywho...another question. I know that I have to provide financial documentation to show that I can support him in the US. Is he required to submit this type of documentation as well? I can't seem to find a checklist for the entire process...only for the I-130.

    Thanks...

When you get to the Affidavit of Support (I-864) you'll need to give info of your income only (unless your SO has US generated income), but only if it will continue in the US :) You'll also need your 1040 and W2 from 2008 (providing 2006 & 2007 is optional) to show that you filed taxes last year.

Yes please, for the love of God, make sure you have filed your taxes, dont mess up like me ;)
