  1. So my husband got the IR-1 Visa and arrived in the US on the 28th of January!!! Now we are trying to get him a SS Card. I read online that he should wait ten days before going to the Social Security office to request the card and that he needs documents proving his status here and age. What exactly can he bring with him? How long does it take? Any suggestions or tips???

    Thank you!

  2. So we are 2 weeks away from the interview and we have records of all but one of the vaccines. My husband didn't get the Varicella vaccine when younger and actually had chicken pox in high school. What can we do to prove this??? I don't want to have him get the shot if its not necessary.

    Advice???

    Thanks!!!

  3. Hello again everyone!!! So we are about a month away from the interview but I want to get all the documents ready now to make sure that we are not missing anything. What exactly do I have to bring to the interview? I email the embassy and they just sent me a document and said to look at that, but it didn't have anything really! I am preparing everything that we have already sent in but not sure what to bring.

What do I need to bring???

    Thanks!

  4. So we have the interview on the 19th of January and the medical exam on the 18th. From all the reviews of the Consulate, I see that the visa is given to you on the day of the interview. But I did see on the US Dept of State website, that we should allow 3 days for the entire interview process. I am trying to book a hotel but not sure for how many nights to book for....should I stay the night of the 19th or plan on leaving that night by train? Any suggestions?

    Thanks

  6. Hey everyone

So I am in the last stages at the NVC and had some questions. SO, when I send the DS-230 do I need to included photocopies as well as the original documents?? Or do I just send the originals? Also, I read on the NVC website that at the interview I need to bring original copies of everything that I sent in with the DS-230, so do I need to request 2 original copies of everything? Also, they want a copy of the Affadavit of Support, should I print out another original with the petitioner's signature or just a copy??

    Thank you so much

  7. So we are at the point in which we have to send copies of the birth certificate, the certificate from the police, etc My husband doesn't have his original birth certificate and went today to ask for a copy and was told that it would take 45WORKING DAYS!!!!! Does anyone know of another way to get it faster??? How could it take so long to receive a copy of a birth certificate???

    ANY HELP PLEASE!!!!

  8. SO I am now at the stage in which I have to send the Affidavit of Support! I don't work whatsoever, as my husband supports me, so naturally I need a co-sponsor. My sister will co-sponsor my husband. My questions are:

She does not live in the same state as I do, is that a problem???

How much does she have to make to sponsor him??

What does she have to claim as her household size(she is single with no children)???

    THANK YOU!!!!

  9. Our NOA2 has just been accepted and now we are awaiting notification that the NVC has our case! I have read about the process online but I wanted to know if there are any tips anyone could give us!!! Any information would be greatly appreciated! Good luck to everyone on your journey to receive your visas!

    Thank you

  10. So I am beginning the paperwork to bring my husband to the US with me. I am filling out the G-325A form for myself and my husband but have hit a wall. My husband was raised by his father and step mother, he has no ties to his mother at all. His father passed away so we don't have a way to contact the mother for information. On his birth certificate we have her name but as for the birthdate, I have no way to find out when she was born. What do I put on the G325A form????? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  11. So I am an American that is married to an Italian. I, to be honest, am living in Italy but without an documents and have been for the last 2 years. I am now trying to bring my husband to the US. I started to read the instruction on how to file the petition for my husband but have hit a dead end. For the document, we have to provide documents that bona fides the marriage....this is where we are having problems. We are living with his mother, so there is no lease. We don't own anything together or have any joint back accounts. I am not sure what I can do. In the US, I own a car and have a bank account but that is all. He doesn't own anything here in Italy and doesn't even have a bank account.

What are my options??? Please help!
